    They are saying because it has extendable pedals (for pedaling)... it could be classed as a bicycle. I've seen bicycles with e-motors but nothing to this extreme. I have to agree this is an e-motorcycle.... not bicycle. Kind of a cross between a moped and a sport bike. Still.... 80mph on something that weighs 120lbs with a 200 mile distance? ... Mfr says in the article : "When the juice runs out, use a coin to turn the fasteners and pop out the pedals from behind the fairings to go on human power. Regarding the X5′s street legality, Hanebrink says, “the benefit of a legal electric bicycle is, of course, that it does not require registration, drivers license, or special motorcycle permit, etc. and can be operated where motorcycles are not permitted.” Does the DMV (MTO in Ontario) have a point where they classify it as an e-motorcycle vs e-bicycle? I don't know but might be interesting to find out.

    Reading some old articles on clutch whine and basket changes... bored at work so out of curiosity I looked to see what pricing is. Thought it was interesting that the "I" basket applies to ATV's, boats, lawnmowers, as well as the Venture and RSTD. 4XY-16150-09-00 ("I" basket") PRIMARY DRIVEN GEAR $331 @ boats.net $302 @ partspak.com $285 @ boatpartguys.com $342 @ yocracing.com (Yamaha of Cucamonga) $299 @ lawnmowerpros.com "H" basket was 26H-16150-00-I0 Makes sense they'd use it in multiple applications but quite the variance in pricing. I didn't list the higher prices I saw ($385, suggested list $405).... but $100 difference in price between top and bottom. When looking for parts by Yamaha part numbers.... extend your search past bike shops and you might save some $$$$. Unless you have lots to throw around (in that case throw some my way !)

    I've never done one but I think on a 2 wheeler it is best to have the bike on the side stand so it leans to the left... that way you don't lose oil after draining it. On a trike I believe people have suggested raising the right rear wheel to get an angle on the bike.

    5 years from original date of purchase and transfers with ownership of the bike. Your dealer might push it thru as warranty even if you are just past the 5 years. Try talking nicely to the dealer and ask them to try warranty thru Yamaha. When was the original date of purchase on your bike? Did you have the dealer check?

    When you get married (and divorced), have children... you always remember the first Christmas after such an event. One of my favourite Christmas' was the last one before my Mother passed away (she passed in Feb 1999). The entire family was at my parents house and included my parents, brothers, sister, neices, nephews.... 30 of us all together which isn't possible that often. We took pictures of the entire group together and was the last year with my Mother.

    Bike looks good in the pictures. I see the guy selling has only been a member since March of this year. If you can't make it to S.C... could ask another member to check it out for you. ectswjoe, Mike G in SC, Sleeperhawk... are in S.C.. Not volunteering them but I wouldn't doubt they'd be willing to check it out for you. They might be able to tell you what it is worth and if it is a good buy. Be simple enough to transfer ownership without going there and money transfer gets you the bike. Hope this helps !

    Just wanted to see if anyone else is planning on heading West after the 2013 International. I know Leo3Wheel (Leo, NJ - '09 Hannigan) is planning on heading West as well, possibly Carbon-One (Larry, Michigan - '09 Hannigan) too. For us, we don't have a firm route yet. Only destination we have to make is Jack Fish Lake, Saskatchewan on the 15th of August. Between the International and August 15 we are free spirits. We aren't looking for mileage and would prefer to "smell the flowers" along the way, see the sights, probably camping for the most part. Anyone else considering a Western vacation (or headed West to get home) after the International? If anyone is headed West... post your general plans or destination and lets see if we can piece something together. Or if you live West of the International and want visitors....

    I ran a lottery pool at work for a couple years. Hassle is usually the weekly collection of funds. In a group you have to be careful if someone who regularily joins misses paying when you hit the winners.... then past group members come out of the woodwork. Pick up a group form at one of the ticket retailers or look online. They give tips on how to manage a group. For "legal" reasons... you need to come up with and post the group's rules and membership for each draw. Best to get people to agree to the rules once you post them (even online someone saying they agree in the thread) so someone can't argue after the fact if they miss out on winnings. One thing to consider is that if you have list of regular players... keep emails if someone drops out. If someone misses a payment don't consider them out of the group until you get an email or post from them. Cover their payment to a point or set amount in the rules (could say if someone gets beyond a certain point where they haven't paid they are considered to be out of the group - but it has to be stated in the rules posted). Not sure how members outside of the U.S. would complicate things - taxes. Might say something in the lottery rules about only being U.S. residents so don't complicate things where it could cause problems collecting. I know it sounds extreme for such a small thing... but if you hit "the big one"... do you really want a big pay-out held up in the courts?

    If you are in the 5,000-7,000 range for a trip I'd agree that changing the oil and filter before you go and running it until you got home would be fine. 5,000-6,000 miles on regular oil wouldn't be a problem. 6,000-7,000 would be better to run synthetic (my opinion on synthetics). I run synthetic all the time in my Venture and car.

    After posting about Mad Maps on the Garmin... .I started looking at the Rte 66 download. Its like the Mad Maps.... you download it to the Garmin from the Internet and it shows up in the "Extras" folder. Don't think you need a card.
