Techron just made me a believer!!!!!!!!!!
XV1100SE replied to usedcyclesales's topic in Watering Hole
B12 ? So should I add "iron" instead of safety chrome? Put in Viagra if I drop the bike and need help "getting it up" ? On a serious note... I put Sea-foam in the tank every couple months (maybe 1/3 of a can). Some would say it is too much but so far it works for me. For Winter storage I run the tank down into reserve, put 1/2 a can in the tank and then fill with gas. Run it on reserve for a 10-20 mile ride to pull the mix thru the reserve tank and carbs and then park it for the winter. I use major brand gas stations and always regular unleaded. -
I need your opinions

You can ignore Charlie... he doesn't ride a Venture. I agree with MikeWa. I'm 6', 200lbs, wife is 5'3", 125lbs.... the 2nd Gen ('99 to current) is a smooth ride, no wind buffeting, lots of power if you have rpm up (drop a gear for some fun). For your comfort, get a drivers back rest (couple to choose from, I have the Utopia). For passenger comfort, because your wife will find the back seat so comfortable she'll fall asleep, get her some armrests (Carbon One - Larry - makes great stuff, you'll also want his lift adapter with legs). Adding the arm rests you can/should move the trunk back about an inch which also moves the passenger back rest back an inch giving her even more room. Going to a touring bike, you'll want to get head sets. I know some people enjoy the peace and quiet but being able to talk to your passenger is great. Having the cb for group rides is convenient. If you add a gps with Buddy Rich cable allows you to sync with your phone to make/receive calls. When looking for a bike, consider the original purchase date if you go used. The 5 year warranty starts from original purchase date and is transferable. Also read the "known issues" so you know what to look for if you go used - http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1067 -
Please post GOOD pictures with your items for sale
XV1100SE replied to Miles's topic in Watering Hole
You've posted good information which makes life easier for the seller and the buyer. Clear pictures of any damage/blemishes is as important as showing the good parts so there are no surprises, especially if the buyer is travelling a great distance expecting one thing and finding another ("hidden" or undocumented issues). I believe getting good quality pictures of a 1st Gen is more difficult than a 2nd Gen since on a 1st Gen the parts are faded, hanging loose/crooked from the cracks. Think the best light for most of them was almost 30 years ago. (sorry.... couldn't resist. Held back this long ! ) -
In Canada helmets are a requirement. When I've gone thru States where it is optional I've always worn mine and always will.

XV1100SE replied to usedcyclesales's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
THERE'S your WHINE !!!! Don't jinx it by complaining about not having a whine.... other than the one coming from YOU ! My '09 RSV doesn't whine either.... and hoping to keep it that way ! -
You've been gone so long you must have forgotten. 15th still requires pictures !

Sounds like the tv would be a good trade on a 1st Gen !

Hope the replacement goes well and to a speedy recovery !

Okay... but remember you asked for it ! To all members.... Charlie wants you to visit him. Open bar, lots of food... even ice cream (but stay away from the yellow snow). http://www.sudburytourism.ca/

Think the gauntlet has been thrown down. This could be entertaining on a cold winter night !

WTF ! You don't like products described as "Way Too Functional"? Now that is Way Too Funny !!! With Sugru you'll be saying to yourself "What To Fix?" Never used Sugru before. Sounds Way Too French to me !
-
That sounds like a great idea ! That way anyone on a Venture that you come across in your travels can check theirs too since you'll have the meter with you !

Riding season better start soon !

Don't think it does. I bought the iSimple adapter when they first came out and it is great to use with an iPhone or iPod. Set playlist, plug it in, then control from the handle bar controller. See my write up on the iSimple device at http://www.venturerider.org/modules/News/showarticle.php?t=66070&op=nextnewest . After I picked up a Zumo 660, I stopped using the iPod and now just have a micro-SD card loaded with music in the GPS. This way I can listen to music and for those times I want the GPS for directions I get both. If you use the iSimple device you set the handle bar control Accessory. For the GPS you set it to Aux. Using the Buddy Rich cable you can connect the GPS to your cell phone via bluetooth and use your cell phone thru the GPS. Just seems to be a more complete solution. If you get a GPS and then want to listen to music from the iPod and directions from the GPS you can't do both at the same time.
