  1. Is that where the pond monster comes from during MD ?
  2. Thing is we all pick up bad habits and no matter how many safe miles you've ridden, practical experience.... if you pick up even one thing that keeps you safe, your life is worth 2 days.
  3. But... saves you having to buy them and put them on. Adding chrome isn't cheap. If it was a bare bike for $5,000... then add the chrome that is on it... costs you more out of pocket. $5,000 would be a good price.
  4. Don't think the mileage would be a concern. From the pic it looks to have some additional chrome (trunk rack, saddle bag rails, passing lights, rad cover, carb covers and twinkie covers). Windshield has been cut down so see if he has the stock one as well. Looks like a vr.org member in Okanagan Falls has an '05 Midnight for sale for $10,000 with 87k km. http://bc.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-motorcycles-touring-2005-Yamaha-Royal-Star-Midnight-Venture-W0QQAdIdZ461902808
  5. On my '09 I don't have the whine (knock on wood). I've been using the Mobil 1 synthetic that is recommended. I'm about to switch to the Rotella T6 due to cost issues. Some say it makes a difference what engine oil you use and I'm a little leary about changing but at almost 1/2 the cost, I'll try the T6. Because it is a wet clutch you have to watch out for friction modifiers. Do a search and you'll see the details on it.
  6. Miles... you'll hear lots of Canadian too, eh !
  7. http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/Revealed-Toyota-i-Road-concept-2013-03-05 http://media.toyota.ca/pr/tci/en/tmc-to-premiere-toyota-i-road-243961.aspx
  8. Thanks for the update. Glad he continues to improve.
  9. Just thought it was neat, and with the TTXGP post... electric bikes are coming BUT they (and cars) have a long way to go to be practical.
  10. Electric bikes are coming ! http://www.wired.com/autopia/2013/03/ttxgp-fim/
  11. Not a touring bike.... but pretty cool http://www.wired.com/autopia/2013/03/toyota-i-road/
  12. I had called NAPA as well and got their price of $130. For Battery Wholesale it is DEKA.
  13. Called East Penn... they quoted $160 but when I asked about local retailers in Kitchener they suggested Battery Wholesale. Their retail price is $115. Thanks for the input !
  14. Our condolences on your loss. Don & Nancy
  15. My battery after taking it off charge shows 11.56V. I use a Yamaha Star charger - 1.8 "power" amps, constant current. From what I've seen the recommended is a DEKA AGM drycell ETX20L. NAPA has the ETX20L on sale for $130. Anyone in Ontario recommend somewhere that is less $ ?
  16. Happy Birthday !!!!
  17. Take it slow and easy ! Riding season is coming up soon.
  18. Okay.... no more comments about censorship or whether a question like this can be posted. I'm sure the moderators are watching for the conversation to go south but stick to the question posted and there won't be any issues.
  19. Think the one I bought was $40 (in Canada). Lot cheaper than the Mobil 1 though (4 litres cost about $70 here)
  20. I'm sure many have seen my posts on previously (deleted) threads - I support controls. However... we've seen threads on many topics regarding what non-motorcycle items to buy - tv's, (waterproof) cell phones, garage construction, angry boyfriends (need an update on this come to think of it). To me, the OP posted a valid question simply asking for opinions on what to buy, not to discuss pro's/con's of guns. If this comes to a vote.... I see no problem with this thread and doubt the moderators would delete it simply because it is a valid question on what to buy. If we start deleting everything non-motorcycle related, then 1/2 the threads would be gone. To the OP... nothing wrong with your question and keep us posted on what you buy.
  21. Congratulations ! You made it !
  22. Quick call to Yamaha Customer Service will give you an answer Congratulations on the bike !
  23. usually the dealer will give you a cheap plastic plate holder. Definitely better options out there!
  24. The rubber piece attached to the bottom of the trunk peels off and you can move it so it fits in the new location of the mounting frame. That's what I did.
  25. Use our helmet locks all the time.
