  1. You can get OEM Yamaha parts that would be a huge upgrade to the stock parts you have. The parts you need can be had in one package http://www.yamaha-motor.ca/products/products.php?model=4202&class=1&group=M|&LANG=en
  2. Problem with going to a forum "for" the bike is the opinions are all slanted "for" the bike. Like buying electronics and reading purchaser's reviews - people justify what they bought. I'm sure there are people on the Wing or HD site that went there from the Venture and say their new bike is better. Hard to get an open opinion other than reading the "problems" posted for each brand/model.
  3. I think people add to the tongue on the flat bed trailer that they add a car topper to. For the Tag Along, I've never experienced swaying and have added a cooler rack to it and still no issues.
  4. Carl is in deep thought... trying to decide which 1st Gen to keep.
  5. A Ferrari making that noise? NOT A CHANCE ! (F1 starts tonight with the Austrailian Qualifying tonight at 2am EST... I'll be watching !) That sound clip was originally posted as being from an Indian (dot not feather) made HD.
  6. Based on recommendations on the Harbor Freight Tag-along...see my post on what I did with mine. http://venturerider.org/forum/showpost.php?p=707123&postcount=12
  7. Looking very good (the bike that is !)
  8. Just a thought... want to make up the harness? I'd take one.
  9. Ask and ye shall receive ! Talk about service !
  10. Never understood that. Would be nice to be able to operate them if bike is off and parked on the side of the road. This would be a good project to figure out.
  11. MarCarl put me onto this stuff. Great lubricant. On sale at TSC for $9.99 ($5 off) - March 15th - 21st http://www.fluid-film.com/
  12. Don - at least that trailer has room for spare plastic parts ! Pulling an ice cream wagon would be a good idea for some of our members - Tom ?
  13. Glad to hear things are improving for you. If the weather is good when you do the M&E... might be able to come down and join in. 3 1/2 hours from us.
  14. Basic tools : allen keys (metric and imperial) flash light screw driver (with multiple bits to reduce room) wrenches (with sizes used on the bike - 9mm, 10mm, 12mm....) vise grips (only for emergencies) needle nose pliers linesmans pliers (can be used as a hammer too ) magnetic pick-up (for screws that drop somewhere in the fairing) tie wraps/velcro zero loss air pump (30psi for front, 60psi for rear) electrical tape Other items : fuses headlight bulb (for long trips) passing light bulb (for long trips) tire patch kit (plugs) air compressor (don't use accessory outlet in fairing. Add accessory outlet under drivers seat)
  15. Riders Plus. Think on my '09 RSV I pay $1,000 a year with full coverage. I switched a couple years ago because they saved me $400 / year over Cooperators who have my car and house insurance. As with most companies you can do an online quote.
  16. =IF(A2="",0,1) This results in... if A2 is NULL, true result is 0, if false result is 1 See sample spread sheet and if I'm off base with what you are trying to do, let me know. What you could do is insert columns C and D and then hide them, putting your results in a cell that isn't hidden.
  17. Okay..... I'm up to the challenge. Post your file that you want to work with. Need a little more explanation on what you are trying to do. If I understand correctly... you want to know how many cells in column 1 have an entry in it (not NULL - value X), how many cells in column 2 have an entry in it (again, not NULL- value Y), and subtract Y from X. This part confuses me - "combine the totals for 4 ranges of cells"
  18. Hoping for a speedy recovery !
  19. Harbor Freight has the "Tag Along" on sale now for $410 but in magazines there are usually 20% off coupons. A number of us have that one and for general usage it is great. I wouldn't have a problem taking it on a long trip. Do a search for "Tag Along" and you'll find a post I did regarding minor things you should do to it when you buy one. (eg, better grease in wheel bearings). http://www.harborfreight.com/600-lb-capacity-78-inch-tag-along-trailer-66771.html. Very similar to the PiggyBacker but 1/3rd of the price - but you get what you pay for. http://piggybacker.com/Piggybacker/PiggyBacker_Cargo_Trailer.html With any trailer on a bike you need to be extra careful of the tongue weight. 25-35lbs is good so balance your load appropriately. Stay within the load limit of the trailer and you won't even notice it is there. If you overload it, it will push a little bit around corners, take longer to brake. To light on the tongue weight and the tongue will want to lift on braking (lightening the downforce on the rear tire as you brake). Too heavy will "lighten" the front wheel (and add wear to the rear tire). Keep in mind that a trailer is wider than the bike. Remember to take this into account when riding (leave a little more room between you and the lanes on the road so the trailer doesn't go over)
  20. Good post Miles. As Miles said... if the bike is well cared for and "clean", 80,000 miles isn't that bad. You could use the mileage as a bargaining point and reduce the price. Depends on how much they are asking for it. For example... if the price was $4,000.... an easy decision. If $9,000... well....
  21. Save you some time.... if you click on the Search on the bar at the top of the screen you can do a Google search of the VentureRider site. Type in "camper trailer" and the button for VentureRider.org and then Search. Several hits on campers. If you use the Search feature for some things like "oil", brake pads, tires.... you'll have plenty to read ! This thread mentions a few different brands - http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=23730
  22. Saturday May 25th is the MarCarl VentureIn in Brantford, Ontario. If you come back thru Ontario you should stop in. Lot of local members as well as some from Upper NY State and Michigan are there. http://venturerider.org/forum/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=328&day=2013-5-25&c=1 7 hour ride from Montreal to Brantford - http://mapq.st/ZFrJnB. Depending on your timing, you could stop on your way to Montreal or on your way back. You could come thru the Detroit or Buffalo area.
  23. I'm not worried about the summer. Over the winter the bike can sit 4-5 months. I usually start it once a month and run it for 20 minutes (revving it occasionally) to keep the fuel moving. It's during the winter I wonder if a charger would be beneficial.
  24. Whatever you don't take orders for now you could probably easily sell at MD or at the International. Same with the flags.
  25. Too bad you couldn't route it to the gps. The screen would need to be waterproof.
