  1. $13 - http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=4200&title=auxillary-tail-light-harness-for-royal-star-venture&cat=35
  2. $120 from Larry is a great deal.
  3. Do you have Larry's adapter? (CarbonOne)
  4. If you push down on the release pedal and hold it down it starts quick for maybe an inch or two, then glides down slowly.
  5. Put a can of Seafoam in the gas and run it. If you are able to run it then fuel is moving. If it bogs down at certain rpm then probably a clogged needle. I know it is a lot of Seafoam but the cost of Seafoam is small if it fixes your issue.
  6. Miles... so a linked system uses different calipers depending on which brake you apply? That they way linked systems are designed? So if I want maximum braking... hit and hold both?
  7. I picked one up when it was on sale last year. Not overly impressed. Been a few times trying to lift the bike that it didn't go up. Think the release sticks a bit and prevents raising the lift. Fit doesn't seem too great... lot of play in things. Tolerances could be better.
  8. Anyone in the 613 area code that can give him a call?
  9. Note the OP's join date - May 2012. Picture was posted in June 2012.
  10. Definitely point out the "unknowns" or visible aspects (age of tires more than 5-7 years?)... if carbs had to be rebuilt what else needs work from sitting? Although... if the dealer recommended rebuilding/cleaning the carbs they probably also suggested other work for what might have been affected by sitting. For the sake of $300... it would still be a good deal.
  11. Miles.... same bike but option for linked or non-linked ABS.... which would you choose and why?
  12. For those with or experience with ABS.. given the example above, how would ABS react on gravel? Is ABS "above" linked brakes?
  13. There have been times when I've locked up the rear... and managed to let off enough to stop the skid and control steering. I like having control... but if ABS acts "invisibly" on the bike... it would eliminate having to guess at how hard you can hit the brakes without locking it up. I wouldn't want to feel it pulsing like you can on a car.
  14. When I read the packages in the store I didn't see AGM on the Jr... it did mention "only for lead/acid". The Plus specifically indicates AGM on the package. That's what I based my purchase on... plus the wiring to connect permanently to the battery. I see on the Canadian Tire (CT) description of the Plus says : "Perfect for charging and maintaining all 12V lead-acid batteries including AGM and gel cell" and the Jr says : "Perfect for maintaining all 12V lead-acid batteries including AGM and gel cell" Plus is on sale at CT for $50. http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/4/Auto/3/Batteries/BatteryChargers/PRD~0111941P/Battery+Tender+Plus,+1.25A+Charger%2BMaintainer.jsp?locale=en The Jr. is on sale for $30
  15. One of the Consumer Reports link says.... For most riders, avoiding lockups of the front or rear would certainly reduce accidents. For 1st Gen'ers though... why de-link the brakes? Are linked brakes less beneficial than ABS?
  16. I don't believe the Junior supports AGM batteries. Canadian Tire has the Plus at 25% off and DEFINITELY supports AGM batteries.
  17. Here is a link to the Consumer Reports page - http://news.consumerreports.org/cars/2013/03/motorcycle-reliability-survey-shows-what-goes-wrong.html http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/magazine/2013/05/most-reliable-motorcycles/index.htm List of 2012 bikes with ABS - Yamaha has 2. http://news.consumerreports.org/cars/2012/04/guide-to-the-2012-motorcycles-and-scooters-with-abs.html ABS article - http://news.consumerreports.org/cars/2012/04/the-most-valuable-motorcycle-feature-antilock-brakes.html (required by all bikes in Europe by 2016)
  18. I'm surprised by the low percentage of Yamaha owners that would buy again. Perhaps because for the past few years they haven't been doing much of a refresh on their bikes? The point of ABS saving lives I'm not sure about. I don't like anti-lock on cars (or traction control)... not sure about on the bike having never ridden a bike with ABS. But if Yamaha is looking to compete in more areas... they better be keeping up with their competition.
  19. ... antenna is on the wrong side .
  20. The attached link shows what is covered under Ontario Health Services - http://www.health.gov.on.ca/en/public/publications/ohip/services.aspx Basically... doesn't cost me anything out of pocket for hospital or Dr. visits other than what may be from payroll taxes. Some things there is a co-pay (such as ambulance)... but in my case would be covered by health benefits from work.
  21. This discussion is making me feel a lot better about what we pay in Ontario.
  22. Out of curiosity I looked it up... The renewal few includes an "insurance contribution" which covers bodily injury and consequences. Being a "no fault" insurance plan, it compensates victims of accidents for bodily injury sustained whether at fault or not. For a SPORT bike over 401cc... the insurance contribution is a flat fee of $1,070 (plus a $4.25 "charge" - probably an admin fee). The tag portion is $42.50. For a cruiser over 401cc the insurance contribution is $557.53 The insurance contribution does NOT cover damage to vehicles so drivers need to have property damage insurance thru an insurance company. I don't know what their rates are for this. For cars ... insurance contribution is $128, vehicle registration (tag) is $111, plus a transit contribution of between $30 (people on the island of Montreal pay an additional $45).... plus whatever you pay your insurance company for property damage/collision.
  23. If you are looking to light up the rear of your bike... I went with Custom Dynamics 100 LED brake light and converted my rear signals to run/turn/brake lights (from Custom Dynamics). I don't find the trunk wing to give that much light but looks nice on the trunk. Passing lights of course... with spacer.... look at the H7616 bulbs. Brightest passing lights I've seen ! I just added passenger highway pegs (Diamon R)and carb covers over the winter (member vendor). So much you can add to personalize your ride ! Enjoy the shopping ! (don't know why you took the horn off the handle bars ! That made it unique !!)
