  1. That's what I would do.
  2. What you are both missing is that when Yamaha upgraded to the 2009.... they made the Candy Red/Raven faster ! Has the speed of both the red and black combined, making it twice as fast as just black by itself ! Now that that has been settled once and for all...Kevin... let me be the first to say congratulations. Don't think you'll let the '08 pass you by. Good condition, fair price.
  3. Maybe when the new updated RSV is announced this Fall (oops... too late to suggest this since April Fool's day is past)
  4. Now now boys... stick to the topic of the thread ! Pros and cons of fixed vs fork mounted fairings.
  5. Welcome to the site. Several members in your State so you'll have a few people to ride with or help with maintenance. Lots of tips on the site and helpful members. As for things to check on the bike.... this thread is pretty comprehensive of the few issues you should look for : http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1067 As has been mentioned, see if you can get service records to see how well kept the bike has been. Check to see if the rear shock is or has been leaking. If you give the bike a good run, listen for the clutch whine. Keep in mind that being a 2008, you are probably still covered under the 5 year warranty so if anything does come up it would be looked after by the dealer. 5 year warranty is based on date the bike was first purchased. As for top heavy, you might feel it during slow speeds but when you start moving you won't think it is heavy. I worry more about trying to back up a hill than I do the balance of the bike. You get used to it. Remember, it isn't a crotch rocket.
  6. My understanding.... Frame mounted fairing : - less affected by winds turning the front wheel Fork mounted fairing : - headlight points in direction you are turning
  7. Happy (belated) birthday !
  8. 2013 RSV S - $19,999 in Canada, $20,590 in the U.S. iSimple in Canada (Yamaha) - 1BM-H722E-V0-00 - $239.95 In U.S. (Yamaha)$233.95 (get a 15% (?) discount from Pioneer Motorsport) *** might be superceeded to 1BM-H81C0-V2-00 Boats.net has it for $153.34 http://www.boats.net/parts/detail/yamaha/Y-1BM-H722E-V0-00.html Partzilla.com is $141.54 .... plus cost of an iPod... around the same price as in the U.S.
  9. Check out Rumbling Pride http://rumblingpride.com/ I arranged with them for a 20% discount on orders for us. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showpost.php?p=707487&postcount=14
  10. Glad it came with the bike for you ! You'll enjoy the ride and the tunes !
  11. Congratulations ! Sounds like a cushy job. BTW... what work are you SUPPOSED to do ???
  12. I measured voltage on mine when my bike wouldn't start and had something like 11.4v. Less than that might not be enough to do anything.
  13. Mark - to add bike info to your header.... http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=58880
  14. Save people going to the profile... its a 2005 RSV. How many miles/km do you have on the bike?
  15. Carbon One adapter with legs. Puts it at a good height to do "winter work" on it, no jack handle to walk around. Nice and stable !
  16. I have an '09 as well and all I got was "clicking" when I went to start it. Replaced the battery with a Deka AGM and fired right up. If you are on the original battery.... its "expiry" date may have been reached. 9.5 v is too low I believe indicating one or more failed cells.
  17. On your iPod or iPhone you start set it up the way you want it to play (random, the playlist)... then control it from the handle bar controls.
  18. Front FA179HH (2 sets) Rear: FA123HH (1 set) These are the pads recommended.
  19. I use S100 a couple times a year. Makes cleaning the bike so much easier ! http://www.s100.com/index.htm I don't have the whole kit. Just the one where you wash the bike, mist it on, hose it off, dry it, and ride.
  20. Just remember that even when the bike is turned off the bike is still charging the iPod. I try to remember to unplug it if I'm not riding for a few days. Since I got my Zumo 660 I use the gps for music.
  21. When I got mine I posted a write up on it. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=63049
  22. Speedo works off the front wheel I believe.
  23. You didn't buy it?
  24. Out of the vent tube? I wouldn't worry about a few drops. If it was coming from a seal that would be different. Remember... you have a 2nd Gen NOT a 1st. Mind you... 1st Gens are used to replacing parts, leaks... old age.
