  1. Sonny... since you are reading this thread.... think you need to lighten up on your stance about referring people on the facebook page to other sties. Whether or not you "own" the page or not, I'd refer people to resources whether or not it is on vr.org, venturers, or elsewhere. Nothing against your page. Glad you are supporting the Royal Stars by having a page. But remember... if I find an answer for a poster that is on another site, I'll let them know where to find it. Same thing goes the other way. If I post a link to your facebook page on vr.org... I'm sure Freebird and the other moderators aren't going to revoke my membership. Think of it this way.... you just got free advertising here. From your response to Mike (Brake Pad), I think you are giving a negative view of yourself. Supporters of the Royal Stars need to stick together and spread the word, whether or not it is vr.org, Venturers, Delphi, or your page. If someone comes here to check it out, there is a free trial period... no one is forced to join. And as you've demonstrated in your case... can get access for free.
  2. Think there is still a problem ! See Sonny thanked you !
  3. Polk speakers are what people seem to upgrade to. Some say there isn't a lot of difference because of the power of the amp, a speaker that size can only do so much. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=16934 http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=48515 http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=47464 What you need is a marine grade speaker.... and possibly an amp.
  4. If you do a search in facebook for "Yamaha Venture" or "Royal Star Venture"... I don't see the VentureRiders group. The listing only shows the one discussed above and one other. Whoever is running the VentureRiders group might want to look into why it doesn't show up as a group listing when searching for the Venture. Ventureriders group has 218 members. The group discussed here has 677 members.
  5. To save others from searching for the facebook page (moderators - delete this post if you deem necessary) : I joined the Ventureriders facebook page but rarely go there. I find VentureRiders.Org to have the friends and info I need. I see nothing wrong with pointing someone to another site if the info they need is there. Supporting each other is the important thing.
  6. ... just another part falling off of a 1st Gen.
  7. If you haven't already done so.... add it to the calendar.
  8. Will depend on weather that weekend. Will try to come down for the meet. Would come down on the Saturday and stay over night.
  9. We are sorry to hear about your loss.
  10. Carl is important since he became a moderator. Now he has someone screening his calls !
  11. Sorry to hear about your Father's condition. We'll be thinking of you and your family.
  12. Might be an idea if you can set it up so that when people join the site or become members one of the options is to add/update location.

  14. Now's the time to upgrade to a Deka ! Difference in price isn't that much.
  15. I think you did it on purpose ! Tell her the Oberlin rated 3/5 BUT Country Inn & Suites by Carlson is a 4/5 !!! Tell her she deserves the better hotel ! If Freebird can arrange a better rate (anyone that hasn't booked a place and is interested in this hotel - post here and maybe he can get a better rate)... I'll book here.
  16. Since there is no room at the Oberlin Inn.... Has pricing been arranged anywhere else? Doing a search of hotels in Oberlin... http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g50795-Oberlin_Ohio-Hotels.html For Elyria hotels .... This one was ranked #1 : Country Inn & Suites by Carlson Elyria 645 Griswold Road, Elyria, OH 44035 Ranked #2 Red Roof Inn & Suites Cleveland - Elyria 621 Midway Boulevard, Elyria, OH 44035 BTW.... Quality Inn ranked #9. (formerly Comfort Inn where we've stayed before) Quality Inn Elyria Ohio 739 Leona Street 44035 800.228.5150 (?) 440 324 7676
  17. I was replying to dunvilsteev. Sometimes when you are searching for a topic it is good to reopen an old thread. Lot of things discussed before can save time.
  18. Old spark plug or I found a screw that matched the threads to pull it out. To put new one in, just use the plug or screw and push the new one back in. No hammers needed ! With the number of Ventures individual dealers sell their mechanics don't get a lot of experience with them. Look how many get assembled incorrectly. Try explaining the "fake fins" !
  19. I still think you'll end up with a 1st Gen Venture in your stable.
  20. Think this is the one I picked up last year. Pretty sure the tach reads 2x the actual rpm (plug fires 2x per cycle) so I just divide by 2. http://www.harborfreight.com/lcd-automotive-multimeter-with-tachometer-kit-95670.html Make sure you are on cylinder 1. Think you are supposed to be a certain distance from the plug on the wire too.
  21. Sorry to hear about your ordeal Glad you are okay and the bike didn't take major damage. On a positive note though Carl... this time you did remember to put the kick stand down at the gas station. That alone is a good start to the season !
  22. Sorry to hear about the appeal. On the other hand, glad you found another job !
  23. I have one of the Pennzoil plier type oil filter wrenches. Find it easier than using the other types of oil filter wrenches with bands that go around the filter. http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4420134 The phrase "grip it and rip it" comes to mind. No slippage or trying to get a handle in the right position to tighten a band around the filter.
  24. Welcome to the forum ! (if that is your bike ... your antennas are reversed)
