Anyone comment on how this type of intake would function in the rain?
-
I looked at the pictures on her profile... and you nailed it ! I sent her an email asking where they got them and I'll post here for those interested.
-
Was hoping the owner would come forward them selves. I'll send her a pm and see how she responds.

bump - someone must own these baby's !

Our condolences to you and your family.

Glad you kept your wits about you and sped up instead of slowing down further. You were probably trying to show off to the HD riders to let them know that even after taking a beating, you and your bike kept going.
-
I didn't see one at the time and don't see one in the picture.

Liked the look of them when I saw them. Came across the picture the other day and would like to see about getting a set.

Lot of good suggestions on what can make your ride more comfortable. Few comments by you and others why what your looking at isn't the best choice. Get someone to take a picture from the side of how you are sitting when you are riding... bike needs to be moving, not with your feet on the ground... and post it here. I'm not an ergonomist but I'm sure by posting the pic you'll get additional suggestions or confirmations on the bars or back rest. Minor changes can make a difference. I get a pain in my shoulder and arm when I use a mouse on the computer. Bought a track ball and I don't have the movement that was causing my pain. Even sitting at a computer desk can cause pain depending on height of the keyboard, height and angle of the seat. If I were you, I'd consider a few more minor adjustments before moving on to another bike. What if you do this and find the new bike is worse? A no cost option might be as simple as adjusting the angle of the stock bars. Adding a back rest will make you sit differently which might also be the issue. Maybe it's your wife hitting you on the shoulder for going to fast for her? If the new bike is at a dealer, make arrangements to take the bike for a weekend so you can ride it sufficiently to determine that it won't cause the same pains. If the RSV causes pain at 150 miles, you need to ride the new one at least that far too. -
Don... just imagine... 14,000 members times $12. Wouldn't THAT be nice !
-
I agree. People charge what they want, and people pay what they want. $8 difference is no big deal, and like you say they get a patch. I bought patches from you but haven't even put them on anything yet.

Shhhhhh ! Don't tell Freebird ! (for those curious.... the "other" site charges $20/yr !!!)
-
So now we are going to get a commission for referring paying members? If there was a lot of money to be made in hosting a forum I'm sure we'd all be doing it. I've done a calculation based on what I estimate as the number of paid members, subtracted estimated costs for hosting the site, minus the cost of holding Maintenance Day, dividing what is left by how many hours Don must spend monitoring/managing/updating the site....I don't think I want to tell him how little he is making per hour for his time spent. Good thing Eileen hasn't done this calculation ! I hope Don hasn't figured this out ! To be able to make a reasonable income ($/hr) from running the site we'd need at least 3,400 members or charge the paying members $55/year ! And even then... he wouldn't be able to leave his day job ! If anyone ever accuses Freebird of making a profit from running VentureRiders.org... they are sadly mistaken. What little he does make...he deserves that and more ! I for one am thankful for the time and effort he puts into this site and providing us with everything this site gives us for our $1/month.

I wasn't trying to ruffle Sonny's feathers. I personally don't like his attitude that it is alright to scavenge info from here and other paid sites and not be a member. His deleting posts that he can't dispute (facebook group is no cost to him; hosted sites cost the owner of the site $ to run and membership recoups those costs). I'm actually glad he isn't a member here ! For Freebird and the moderators reading this thread... it's experiences at other sites that make us appreciate what you do. Tolerance and moderation, allowing references to other sites, not deleting posts you don't agree with.... Thank you !

I joined the facebook page and became member 669 and was reading some of the posts. When I read all of the comments posted which were by the page owner and some members gloating that they aren't members but get their info from the "I refuse to pay" sites I had to post a comment. I did NOT attack anyone there, just stated a few reasons why I chose to join an unmentioned site and the differences between a facebook group that doesn't cost the page owner any money whatsoever and a hosted site that the owner of the forum pays for hosting, forum licensing and disk space. One comment that had been posted by a member of the facebook page was that he wasn't a member on the pay site that has a maintenance day coming up but if he lived closer he would go anyway. I posted how it is a free day for members and likened what he suggested to taking a book from the library but not having a membership card. Couple posts from Sonny saying I was telling people to join a paid site. My posts (but not his) suddenly disappeared.... and I was no longer member 669. I did NOT post anything offensive, didn't attack Sonny or any member, simply stated there are costs involved in having a hosted site and that I've gotten a lot of information/support/made friends. I made no mention of a paid site by name nor did I tell people that they need to join a paid site. Talk about censorship. Say anything that doesn't support the page owner's opinion and your posts get deleted and you get excommunicated. I understand that it is his page and all... but really ! If I say I like brand X of a particular part but he likes brand Y... does that mean your opinion gets deleted along with you??? Seriously... I did not attack him nor tell anyone to join a pay site. I typed my thoughts, reread them to make sure they wouldn't be offensive... even lightened a few words to make sure nothing could be taken offensively.

Since this thread started that facebook page is down 9 members to 668.

Until the riding season REALLY starts (was -4C here this morning)... we need these types of threads once in a while to spice up the day !
