  1. You sure Carl didn't call ahead to warn them of your arrival? You did abandon him and Evan.
  2. This has been asked before... V7Goose gave a great answer : http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showpost.php?p=199929&postcount=10
  3. http://www.wheels.ca/news/honda-announces-1-2-million-racing-motorcycle/
  4. Did you make the trip?
  5. Are you planning on heading thru S. Western Ontario? If so... lot of members here and an excuse for a meet and greet.
  6. Looks great !
  7. That's because the disatisfied customers are no longer customers !
  8. Its probably an issue caused by a previous owner... but is the '07 still under warranty? Depends on when it was purchased. Congrats on the new bike ! Soon you'll have more 2nd Gen's than 1st !
  9. Hope things go well ! Take care of yourself.
  10. Glad it was such an easy fix. Sometimes we look at the worst possible solution without trying the simple things first.
  11. Happy birthday to both
  12. I bought Ride Like a Pro and Ride the Dragon Like a Pro a few years ago. The instructors are a bit "cheesy" but lot of info. I think it was worth it.
  13. Think the 89's were pretty good. Someone with 1st Gen experience will chime in I'm sure. Very low mileage for a touring bike. $500 you can't go too wrong. Standard stuff... check for cracks in the plastic, test electrical if you can, check dates on the tires.... Several 1st Gen members in SW Ontario that would be able to offer advice and assistance probably. There is a meet and greet at MarCarl's this Saturday in Brantford that you should attend if possible. http://venturerider.org/forum/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=328&day=2013-5-25&c=1 For known problems with 1st Gens, read the two threads here - http://www.venturerider.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=86
  14. 1 mens large, 1 medium (if you are doing ladies sizes too... one ladies medium, if not a men's medium will do)
  15. It is "maintenance" day. 2nd Gen's only require light maintenance. If it was called "Rebuild and Repair Day" then that would be for 1st Gen's.
  16. Remember when they used to say if you drilled a hole straight thru the Earth you'd end up in China? Well... that's the hole. He is now in North America !
  17. Canadian bikes only have kph on the speedometer. U.S. bikes have MPH where ours shows kph but their lcd screen displays kph. They get both.
  18. I don't think that mileage is that bad. As mentioned, as long as it was looked after with regular maintenance you won't have any problems. This is a 4 cyl don't forget, not a vtwin. As mentioned, check the shock, tires, find out when brake/clutch/coolant were last changed... Lot of members in the Toronto to Woodstock area. If you haven't seen the post for it yet, you should try to come to Carl's this Saturday to meet some of the members. http://venturerider.org/forum/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=328&day=2013-5-25&c=1
  19. I'm in Kitchener if that works for you. There are some other members in Barrie and Toronto that might be closer for you though. If they don't chime in or have an adapter I can help you out.
  20. One advantage of the sloped front is sound from the exhausts. Sound deflects by the shape. If it is a straight up front the sound deflects back to the bike.
  21. Speaking of people that don't know how to park... We went to Wendy's the other night and parked on the drive-thru side. Not very many cars there so lots of empty spaces. I make sure I park in the centre of the parking spots to give lots of room on both sides of the bike. Come out after dinner and there is a van parked right beside me... even though there were still lots of free spots on that side of the building. The front of the van was centered in their slot but the rear of the van was 1/3 of the way into my spot. Lots of scratches and dings on the passenger side of the van. Don't know who it was but was so tempted to do something to their van. Wouldn't gain me anything and they wouldn't notice one more scratch or dent.
  22. Things do change from one Milenium to the next you know.
  23. We haven't had enough rain lately to wash it ! Didn't have a choice but to pull out the hose. My daughter was over washing her car so figured may as well since everything was out. Its 81F (feels like 91 with humidity) and sunny here today. Calling for rain the next couple days but can't count on the weather people ! Posted this thread so others can avoid what I almost did.
  24. Long weekend for us Canadians. Been to work, went for breakfast with friends, got some riding in. After a couple thousand km so far this season, a good time to wash the bike (between gardening chores) and make sure everything that is attached is still tight. Rinsed off the bike, cleaned it with soapy water, started rinsing it off. Did the left side first, went around to the right and turned the handlebars to the left so I could spray the back/underside of the fairing. I've done it this way many times but this time the bike suddenly came straight up, clear of the kick stand. I started to lean the bike back over to put the weight back on the kickstand but it went a little further than what I thought it should so I straightened it back up again. Here I was, on the right side of the bike, hose still in hand, knowing that the kickstand must not be all the way down. I was lucky though, Nancy was doing things in the front garden so I was able to have her come to my rescue. Sure enough the kickstand had swung back and had I tried leaning it any further over the bike would have gone down. At the moment it didn't strike me to throw my leg over the bike. Probably because the seat was all wet from rinsing the bike off. Nancy put the kick stand forward and I was able to put the bike back over onto it while still being on the right hand side of the bike. Mental note....be on the kickstand side of bike griping the handlebars with both hands when turning the handlebars and not mounted on the bike.
  25. Sorry to hear about your bike Miles. Hoping the damage is minor.
