  1. FYI.... weight limit recommended on trunk racks is 20lbs. You will need the support between supports to spread the weight. Remember... your trunk is only thin ABS plastic. As Carl has offered, a stainless steel strip on each side (front to back) on top and inside the trunk will save you grief later.
  2. If you want to do a carb synch, I'm in Kitchener and could either come to you, you could come here, or we meet in the middle. Simple to do... can even do it at a coffee shop. Just let me know.
  3. Did you read the tech article? Its in the 2nd Gen "read only" section.
  4. Keep in mind that the 5 year warranty is transferable and starts from original date of purchase. If you by a 2009 (cherry red/raven) or newer you'll have some warranty left. If you wait until the fall there might finally be a 3rd Gen. Wait and see what the future holds before you decide to UPGRADE from a 1st Gen to a 2nd.
  5. Contact SlowrollWV... he is making them and does great quality. I don't know what he charges for them
  6. Sorry Don... the tents all came down and the circus moved on and all us "clowns" had to leave with it ! Thanks again for another great event !
  7. Sorry to hear about this. You are in our thoughts. As mentioned, keep a positive attitude and certainly use this group as your support forum.
  8. You don't have to disconnect wiring to move the trunk back an inch. Make sure you remove the rubber under the trunk and reposition it so it supports on the bar underneath. It will stick again without doing anything to it. I didn't remove the grab handles when I put my arm rests on. An extension on the socket allows you to reach the bolts to put the arm rests on and then position the arm rests on the grab rails to mark where to drill.
  9. I'm taking a 4 person tent (wouldn't want to put 4 people in it though) and will be just me so if you need hospitality...
  10. Canadian Tire has them on sale for $129 (reg $159)
  11. By the time they update the Venture it will be nuclear powered ! Only kidding... 2014 is THE year !
  12. Freebird - can you recommend two places for breakfast? One for Saturday, one for Sunday. As for time to head out for breakfast... thinking Saturday around 9am... Sunday earlier for those of us getting an early start on the road... maybe 8am ?
  13. Interesting comment in the article : "So he’s as fast as a first-gen GSX-R. Big deal.” But consider this: Electric bikes have accomplished in four years the jump in performance it took gas bikes four decades to achieve." http://www.wired.com/autopia/2013/06/2013-isle-of-man-tt-zero/
  14. Jeff - I'll take one off your hands as well.
  15. For those camping at Don's... I'd be interested in riding off site to get morning coffee/breakfast Saturday and Sunday. If anyone else is interested we can schedule times and place. (recommendations on where is welcomed otherwise even a McDonald's would do) Who's interested?
  16. Don - for those of us camping at your place... just wondering what to expect as far as what happens in the evenings, do you put coffee on for mornings (or have directions to a nearby coffee shop)? Is room service available? :-)
  17. We won't make it this week. Easier for us on say a Saturday morning.... just saying.
  18. Happy birthday !
  19. If you read this out of context....
  20. And dealer assembly leaves much to be desired.
  21. That was funny ! I see I'm not the only one that reads most of the posts.
  22. I've been using 87 octane in my '09 for the past 3 years and occasionally (couple times per riding season) add Seafoam. In the '99 Virago 1100 I used to have, it didn't call for it but I used to use the 94 octane. If I ran 87 octane it would backfire. Going to the higher octane stopped it.
  23. If the deal doesn't go thru... come with us to MD on your Road Star ! You'll see 2nd Gen's, (antique) 1st Gen's, Harleys, Gold Wings.... Big thing is you'll have a chance to meet people and get tips on your new ride (even if it isn't the one you are looking at now)
  24. How long ago did the dealer change your pipes? What did they do with them?
  25. I can't take credit for the idea - B2Dad told me about it at MarCarl's. Where he got the idea I don't know. Shouldn't be a problem painting over the black. Just have to find red to match the inner fairing. From the front you'd see the black. From behind just the red.
