Do you run 87 octane or higher? Run the tank low and then put in a 91 or higher octane gas and see if it still happens. If it is an exhaust leak I would think you'd still get some popping. If you don't, could be plugs or carb set up. Also... check to make sure all four cylinders are firing. Each pipe should be the same temperature coming out of the cylinders. Maybe one isn't firing right? Cheap thing to try is Seafoam. Run the tank low (below 1/4 tank), pour in a full can of Seafoam at home, ride to a gas station 5 to 10 miles from home running off the main tank, and then top up the tank.

Plug an audio cable into the gps and into the aux input on the cassette. You could even do the aux splitter and have the gps connection to the aux inside the fairing. Another good option... BuddyRich cable. If you have a smartphone with bluetooth and a headset, you can even make/receive phone calls !

On my '09 the seat nuts can be taken off with either a wrench/socket or allen key. Passing lights - if Yamaha instructions were followed then it is a little push button switch to the left of the accessory plug on the back of the fairing on the left side. If instructions were followed as posted here then it wouldn't use the OEM push button and would also have a relay in the power line.

The aux plug under the drivers seat is a strange plug. I did't bother tying into it. I put in a cigarette lighter (non-marine that hasn't had any problems in 2 years even in heavy rain) and with in-line fuse directly to the battery. You could run it thru a fuse block. I don't recall... but think the fuse I used was 10A.

The little screws holding the hinge for your trunk lid work loose. Pop the cover off (one screw holds it on) the hinge and tighten the screws occasionally. As noted in my previous post.... do not use Locktite on these screws since it is close to the ABS plastic. Couple people can't get their trunk lids to open to a full vertical position. Some lids won't go beyond a 60 degree angle (or so). I know some people have fixed this and hopefully they will post how.

The bolts that hold the plastic piece around the ignition are the same size and you don't have to remember which of the bolts on the battery cover are fake. Locktite SOME of the bolts but none that are near the ABS plastic. As posted here before, Locktite will eat away at your plastic.

Okay.... so now we know 1st Gen owners can spell. I've corrected it.

I'll take the easy one... hold the "set" button down for a couple seconds and release to set the speed. 1st Gen's might be a little faster... but at least the 2nd Gens were made in THIS century ! Other tidbits... - headlight adjuster for up/down is knob on back of the left side of the fairing - headlight adjuster for left/right is a threaded rod on back of the right side of the fairing - left side of bike below riders seat is a round plastic cover. Take that off and you can install an accessory (cigarette lighter) outlet (wired with fuse to battery is great for using a compressor) - U.S. bikes have mph on upper side of speedometer and lcd panel displays km/hr. Canadian bikes only show km/hr on upper side of speedometer and lcd panel only has the "needle" - need to remove gas tank to change spark plugs - trunk can be moved back about an inch to give passenger a little more room

Finish points - Niagara tour - Wizard maps and guide - do I put the trailer on mini gas BBQ for road side lunch? Riders bring their item for BBq? - will put a cooler in for beverage? - find a place between niagara and niagara on the lake for lunch?

If you ever take one of Marcarl's rides... you get used to gravel, farmers fields, u-turns... Depending on how much riding you've done on gravel/sand... practice a bit beforehand if you can. 3 miles isn't much... but once you are into it there might not be an easy way back.

Steve... you, I, and Barry (bluebarry) can meet in Kitchener (Homer Watson Tim Horton's) and go from there. You had mentioned a stop in Paris and then Caledonia... times to be determined based on who is joining us. If you are bringing the bbq and a cooler... should each person bring what they want to eat? Or are we going to make it a pot luck kinda thing?
