  1. Unless you are carrying a lot of weight and need more than 30psi in the rear shock, go with the Progressive 30psi pump. I've found that the 60psi is too difficult to do the front shocks since it is a high volume pump and even a slight pump is hard to control a couple psi. The 30psi gives you better control. You want both front shocks to be as close to the same pressure as you can.
  2. Owners manual says max 7psi on a 2nd Gen. If it works for you then so be it but just want to make sure others know what Yamaha says is max psi.
  3. ... and when ordering, try the code "rswarrior" to get a 5% discount.
  4. I did a write up on the install of the run/turn/brake lights. Hope it helps with your install. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showpost.php?p=619134&postcount=9
  5. The cop just wanted to get a better look at your 2nd Gen !
  6. What dealer had the bike? Was it Performance Cycle? They are good to deal with. Do you have the bike now or when do you get it?
  7. Congratulations !
  8. Keep in mind there was no option for choosing having to replace the shock ZERO times. Of the people that have replaced their shock... most people said once.
  9. I'm the one that did this mod and can say that it didn't degrade pulling the trailer. Moving the box back 4 1/4" doesn't sound like much but does give some adjustability to weight loading.
  10. Congratulations !
  11. Somebody has to say it.... so you going to get a 1st gen to slow you down ?
  12. How's the bike running? Finding a difference with the carb tune? How is the steering after the adjustment?
  13. Hully Gully (London) has an '09 for $14k. 14. Would have been cool to have her autograph it where it can be seen. Could have had a picture of her air brushed in and then sealed. Then of course you'd want a picture of her with you beside the bike with her autograph on it. Just saying....
  15. Read the reviews here : http://www.yelp.com/biz/stockers-motorcycle-parts-and-salvage-chula-vista http://listings.homestead.com/info-stockers-motorcycle-parts-chula-vista-ca http://www.bbb.org/san-diego/business-reviews/motorcycles-dealers/stocker-s-motorcycle-salvage-in-chula-vista-ca-1014220/
  16. Larry (Carbon One) makes a bracket and wiring harness that makes it easy and looks good !
  17. Rest of the group must have been behind him. Can see he was thinking how he was going to fit in a u-turn and off-roading !
  18. 32,000 miles is nothing. Bike isn't even broken in yet. 4 cylinders are different from vtwins. You should expect 200,000 mile + with oil changes, regular maintenance. Gas mileage.... U.S. gallon about 38mpg
  19. Keep in mind that if the tires are worn or steering head is loose slow speed maneuvers and cornering won't feel quite right and can be corrected. Hopefully you read the "what to look for" in the 2nd Gen read only section.
  20. Nice thing is with the 2nd Gen... 2000, 2003, 2013.... all the same except for colour ! BTW... anyone have an extra rubber piece that supports the trunk ? Peter is missing his.
  21. Attached picture are from the right side of (my) bike but they show the parts in question. Do I have the right part numbers?
  22. To add to this... the "nipple" that you take off the carb to do the synch that is just a cap... think it is "4XY-14118-00-00 . CAP" is pretty well cracked right thru on at least one side and the "tubes" that are above the carbs have surface cracks (possibly deeper). Think that part is: 4XY-13586-00-00 JOINT, CARBURETOR 1 4XY-13596-00-00 JOINT, CARBURETOR 2 I'll post pics of the "joints". If I'm off on the part numbers please correct me.
  23. Glad I could help ! From comparing exhaust with Peter's bike to mine (his 2003 to my 2009)... the pipes look the same but the back end look like they've been drilled out. Peter can give a count and hopefully a picture... but looks like about 10 holes in each pipe. They are not circular like they were drilled but look sort of like a guitar pick in shape, all with the smaller end closer to the centre of the pipe. His bike has a nice "rumble"... but I'm wondering if early bikes or aftermarket exhaust would be like this. If aftermarket, it looks just like the RSV pipes. Could so many holes (about 3/8" in diameter) be part of the backfire issue?
  24. It was posted here before... do a search for Consumer Reports... Found the thread - http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=76912 .. and the Consumer Reports link http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/magazine/2013/05/most-reliable-motorcycles/index.htm http://news.consumerreports.org/cars/2013/03/motorcycle-reliability-survey-shows-what-goes-wrong.html
  25. Hope the recovery goes well.
