  1. Freebird hasn't posted since 8:39 this morning. We'd either send out a search party for him or be glad he likes the bike. Maybe Don and Eileen are hitting all the local Harley dealers picking up clothing?
  2. Clutch fluid was done at the same time.
  3. Congratulations Don ! Nice bike. Isn't the Road Glide reported to be going thru a make over for next season or 2015? I know the Ultra Glide is discontinued. What prompted you to make the deal now and not wait for the "updated" Road Glide? Are you planning on selling your RSV or keep it?
  4. Thank you to Carl for helping me change fluids and check my brake pads. Wanted to make sure my pads would be good for our trip West next week. My brake fluids didn't appear to have darkened thru the site glass but my clutch fluid had started to change colour at the start of the season. Bike is 3 years old and hadn't done them yet. After doing the replacement of the fluids the brakes definitely have more "bite" to them. Carl had helped me change my rear pads a year ago and still have plenty of pad left for this year's trip. Front pads are still thick and are original with 44,000km. I know it is recommended to change the fluids every 2 years and I'm sure I'm not the only one to put it off... but from this experience, I'd definitely be in the group to recommend doing it every 2 years.
  5. If you need a hand... feel free to give me a call. We are home this evening and on Sunday.
  6. Today was Nancy's last day at school. Now all she has to do is find a job as an Executive Assistant.
  7. Glad everything checked out !
  8. For the cruise... I hold the set button for 2 seconds and let go. No drop in speed. When "resting" your hand on the throttle with cruise set, have slight forward pressure on it (like you are going to decelerate). Might take some getting used to but forward pressure on your hand and the throttle position stays based on the cruise control.
  9. We are in ! Name the time and place. (Homer Watson and 401 Tim Horton's is a good start. Coffee and gas there plus easy for others to get to - Brantford, Toronto, Woodstock....)
  10. Sent you a PM but if you are using the quick connects that came with the lights, get rid of them. I had my lights working for a while, then got the quick flash same as you. I replaced those connectors and everything worked again. The write up I did that you read lists what is needed for the rear LED's and where to connect things. Can't help you with the fronts as I left my front turn signals stock.
  11. I've been working in Woodstock this week and have seen a black RSV coming out of Woodstock two days in a row. On my way back to Cambridge today I saw a Silver one as I was coming into town. Nancy saw a black RSV today on her way home from school.
  12. Congratulations ! Any time you want to meet up for coffee or ice cream... lets set up a meet of the locals.
  13. If it was only dependent on the riders experience and skill then this holds true. Sure, as we gain riding experience we learn more and know what to watch out for. But considering the majority of accidents occur at intersections where an oncoming car turns in front of the rider and "didn't see them"... our survival isn't only in our hands. As for dealers selling bikes that new riders (or old riders) can't handle... if a buyer wants something specific you can't talk them out of it. Only regulations can control the size of a bike riders at different levels can purchase. How many times do you see an outfit on a woman and say to yourself how awful it looks on her. Not up to the stores to police bad taste or bad choice.
  14. As long as it doesn't have friction modifiers seems to be the contentious point. The RSV has a wet clutch. Lot of people use Rotella T6.
  15. LOL - I got the picture.... not a pleasant one... Okay.... skip the Badlands. :-)
  16. Starting to finalize our trip from Ontario to our family reunion in Saskatchewan. This route is still being finished but the idea is to go thru : Ontario/ Michigan/ Indiana/ Illinois/ Iowa/ Nebraska/ South Dakota/ Wyoming/ Idaho/ Montana/ Alberta/ Saskatchewan/ Manitoba/ North Dakota/ Minnesota/ Michigan/ Ontario http://mapq.st/1bHe7QA We have to be in Saskatchewan Aug 15-18th. Leaving home on or about August 2nd. I have to be back to work on August 26th. We aren't going to rush and have been putting together a list of places and things we want to see. We'll be camping for the most part and I've been using Microsoft Streets and Trips to lay out a route. Figure doing about 5 1/2 hours riding time a day, start at 9am, two gas stops plus lunch... finish riding about 4-4:30pm. Any comments on what the Badlands are like for temperature at the beginning of August?
  17. I did a thread on the install of the Custom Dynamics lights. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=77681
  18. We aren't going to start talking about the Ahvro Arrow are we? Best fighter jet to fly in the 60's.
  19. Here are a few more Canadians who have made it big : Sarah Polley Dan Aykroyd Adam Beach Kim Cattrall (for her, you should be willing to keep the Bieb's) Kim Coates Nina Dobrev Jessalyn Gilsig Tom Green (don't know how he got left off the list !) Jill Hennessy Rachelle Lefevre Evangeline Lilly Mathew Perry Russell Peters Ryan Reynolds Alan Thicke Michael Buble Celine Dion Nelly Furtado Diana Krall Avril Lavigne Alanis Morissette Mary Pickford (yes, "America's sweetheart" was a Canuck) Shannon Tweed (1982 Playmate of the Year) Monty Hall Paul Shaffer Burton Cummings James Doohan (yes, Scotty on Star Trek was a Canadian) Margot Kidder (Superman's girl) Norman Jewison Glenn Gould "The Rock" Carrie Anne Moss (The Matrix.... and Keannu Reeves lived in Canada but born in Lebanon) I better stop now.... CSIS (Canadian Security) will be at my door for informing Americans about how many Canadians have infiltrated the U.S.A !
  20. + Neil Young... Most Canadians don't like to mention Justin Bieber. The Americans can adopt him if they can stand him !
  21. A reminder to stay vigilant when out on the roads. Bike crash today near here caused by tire debris from a truck that lost a tire. http://www.therecord.com/news-story/3893041-fiery-motorcycle-crash-closes-hwy-401-lanes-at-townline-road-in-cambridge-for-hours/ Good time to give the bikes a good going over too - tires, brakes, loose nuts (on the bike)...
  22. Are the pictures from Performance Cycle in Cambridge? Good dealer !
  23. Nice pictures of the new ride. Looking good ! You think you've spent a lot of money so far? Let the chroming begin ! There are still some opportunities there !
