  1. Absolutely right. So... battery voltage can be low enough to lose the clock and trip settings but keep the radio presets.
  2. Not cheap and not totally sure they'll do what you want... but take a look at Kuryakyn Magnum Quick clamps. http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/3/13/121/19210/ITEM/Kuryakyn-Magnum-Quick-Clamps.aspx Engine guards are 1"
  3. I run 36psi front, 40psi rear.
  4. Just saw this today as well. Missed it when we were on vacation. Glad you and your wife weren't seriously hurt. I'm sure you've been counting your blessings every day. Hopefully you can post an update on how the two of you are doing and what your plans are for a replacement bike.
  5. 2nd that. The aftermarket "wide" shields extend to the end of the chrome trim
  6. Got a call from the dealer....they are ordering a replacement pump and will have it on Wednesday. He said that the points are worn unevenly and although he could clean them up he preferred to replace the pump. Interesting.... he said that it isn't easy to get warranty claims thru.
  7. Just replaced my front tire which was an E3 with another E3 (both are 150/80). I got 35,000 km /21,750 miles) out of the front. This is a combination highway/city driving. I'm happy with the E3 !
  8. This spring I had to replace my battery too. Bike would turn over but not start, Trip odometer cleared.... but battery presets were fine. Put a voltmeter on the battery and it showed 10.4V. Good battery is just under 12V (I believe). If the battery has some juice it is enough to keep the radio presets. I don't know if the trip odometer had cleared before I tried starting it or not (under load of starting the amperage/volts might have dropped too low to keep the trip odometer). Anyone know if the radio has a separate rechargeable battery to keep the presets or does it draw from the bike's battery? I'd say your battery has gone bad and you need to replace it. Look at the Deka batteries...that is what people here go to.
  9. On the weekend my '09 RSV cut out on me. This is the 2nd time since we got back from vacation. Typical symptoms... under higher rpm's engine sputtered for lack of fuel. Turn key on and no "clicking" from the fuel pump. The bike would start with choke on but would die if I gave it throttle or turned the choke off. Didn't matter if the petcock was on main or reserve. After 10 minutes stopped, turned key on and it clicked for 8 to 10 seconds then started and ran normally. I called the dealer this morning and just dropped the bike off at the shop. When I called earlier they said it could just need to have the electrical contacts cleaned. They'll clean the contacts and/or test the pump but being an intermittent issue cleaning the contacts may not resolve the issue. Will post again to this thread to let everyone know how this works out.
  10. always impressed when I see them do those courses
  11. Only tsb is for the 2007 model year... tighten cylinder head bolts
  12. Congratulations !
  13. Not 100% sure... but is that Evan riding away with it? Yes.... it is ! See pic in : http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showpost.php?p=769219&postcount=1 Evan... you starting a collection ? You should have stopped by when you were in Kitchener
  14. Need to check for looseness in your steering head. Put the bike on a lift with the front wheel off the ground. Turn the handle bars 45 degrees to the left (cables will bind if you turn to the right) and let go. If the steering holds the position then it could be tire related. If it moves on it's own, you need to tighten the steering head. If you can't find the write up on tightening the steering head in the read only section let me know and I'll post the link.
  15. Sorry to hear about what you and your wife have gone thru in the past month. Wishing all the best to you and your family in the coming days.
  16. If the tire person slits the tire... doesn't that void any kind of manufacturer warranty? I know when tires are made there are sipes designed into the tire. I wouldn't "add" additional ones.
  17. Napa has both on sale. Buy 2 Seafoam, get the 3rd free - works out to $8.86 each Fluid Film - $9.99
  18. See if you can get info from the dealer on the wiring change. They must be changing the power feed so it is on a switched circuit and not live all the time. The CB circuit is live all the time and if an iPod is connected to the iSimple adapter it is charging all the time. This is the battery draw they are trying to affect. Since the iSimple became a standard part of the bike in the 2010 model year they must be be changing the connection to a switched circuit. See if you can get the TSB number from the dealer.
  19. See the thread I did on installing the Custom Dynamics run/turn/brake lights - http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=77681 Another option for tying in under the seat is to use the harness available from M61A1MECH. See his ad in classified.
  20. There was to be no discussion on why he left. From articles the rider : 60 years old (another story says 59) "He took his helmet off and his hair was singed," adding the inside of the helmet showed obvious signs of being hit by lightning. This link has a picture showing bike and rider http://www.kptv.com/story/23352247/ride-the-lightning-man-on-motorcycle-hit-by-lightning-bolt-on-i-5 The man from Tenino, WA has not been identified See pics of bike - Honda FB6 I believe - http://www.katu.com/news/local/Motorcyclist-struck-by-lightning-along-I-5-in-Washington-222578571.html
