  1. ....and it has an HD label !
  2. Happy birthday from Nancy and I !
  3. I'm the opposite. I feel that hearing what other riders have done wrong or how their accident happened helps me to look out for similar situations. It isn't to fear riding, but to be more aware. Yes accidents happen but if we can avoid them by knowing what to watch out for, helps us. It's like being told not to hold an electrical item while standing in water, to watch the wheels of an oncoming car about to turn left in front of us... knowing what to watch out for is like a psychic experience. Be aware, be safe®.
  4. I buy the trailer raffle tickets knowing that it is like buying a lottery ticket. One person wins, and many people contribute. I don't attend meets for the prizes. I have to agree with Carl...the meets and greets and rallies are a great way to meet other members and put a face to a name. I've had some great conversations with people I've met at these events. Mind you, they do get expensive seeing what other people have added to their bikes. 50/50 draw is similar to the trailer draw. Many contribute and one person wins. I like the idea that 50% goes to the SAF. For draws, I like the idea that you get a keepsake from the event, whether it is a souvenir from the area the International is in or a do-dad for the bike. Instead of a raffle for a trailer, how about a "prize" table where you buy tickets and put a ticket in for the prizes you'd like to win. Could have a box where you can put in tickets if you want to do additional donations to the SAF. 1/2 the money collected from the ticket sales could go to the SAF. Not sure if this would be too complicated in trying to figure out how much to sell tickets for though. One stipulation though....I won't be buying tickets to win Harley clothing. :-)
  5. From what I've read in the past, you want to talk to Dingy.
  6. His profile is http://venturerider.org/forum/member.php?u=3801
  7. The article mentioned that it was at 401 and 6 North. If you say it was at 6 South (for those that don't know, 6 North and 6 South are a couple miles apart off the 401). A CTV news article (out of Kitchener - http://kitchener.ctvnews.ca/two-area-crashes-sends-three-people-to-hospital-1.1495318) says the accident occurred at 6 South
  8. Has to be for stores/hotels that are in both the U.S. and Canada.
  9. This is what the intersection looks like. Not sure if they were headed East or West onto the highway. My thoughts were that they were side by side or too close together. 1st person of the three probably slowed down as they were merging onto the highway and caused the person behind to run into him.
  10. I've entered the trailer draws because I have a Harbor Freight Tag Along and something nicer would be good. It has served it's purpose but something "fancier" would be nice. Mind you, my next trailer I'd like a Leesur-Lite tent trailer. It's true that most of us have gps, cameras, and assorted extras. How about a gift card for an online store or from a hotel chain? With a gift card for a hotel the winner could use it when travelling or even a few weekend escapes.
  11. Copied from the article.... 18 riders travelling together were merging onto the highway when 3 made contact with each other, lost control, and went down. One of the male riders was taken to Hamilton General Hospital with "life-altering injuries" while the other two men sustained minor injuries. From what I saw on the news it looked like cruisers, not sport bikes. This on ramp is fairly long. No other vehicles involved. http://www.thespec.com/news-story/4154924-three-motorcycles-collide-one-rider-taken-to-hospital-with-serious-injuries/ This article is about the accident mentioned that took place in Hamilton - http://www.thespec.com/news-story/4153098-opp-identify-hamilton-man-killed-in-thursday-403-crash/
  12. Wishing Linda all the best with the procedure on Monday. Hopefully your pain begins to subside soon.
  13. Slowrollwv is making these plates for the 2nd Gen. I just got a set from him. They are the smooth ones, not ball milled in stainless steel. He also has brackets to mount air horns on either side below and behind the passenger floor boards.
  14. Did the car that stopped in front of you stick around? If he caused this, hopefully you got his insurance info. Glad to hear that you are okay and that there wasn't much damage to the bike. Hope you had a chance to give the guy in the car a really good talking to.
  15. And Larry's ad for the trailer receiver is http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=3919&title=rsv26amp-3b-rstd-trailer-hitch&cat=24 $125... and you'll need a stinger.
  16. M61A1MECH makes the wiring harness. Nice, clean, easy way to connect trailer wiring without cutting into the bike wiring. Uses male/female connectors and a pig tail. http://venturerider.org/forum/member.php?u=1352 His ad is in the member classifieds at http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=4200&title=auxillary-tail-light-harness-for-royal-star-venture&cat=35 Cost is $13
  17. My '09 didn't come with the cd changer (didn't come with '09's in Canada) but did have the cbus cable to the left saddle bag. You need the cbus cable if you use the iSimple adapter for connecting an iPod/iPhone. I did this for a while until I got my Zumo. When I got the Zumo I installed the BuddyRich cable. I play mp3 files from the Zumo thru the bike's sound system. Using bluetooth on my Blackberry I can make/receive phone calls thru the GPS and talk/listen thru my headset. Highly recommend this configuration. Doesn't use any space in the saddle bag.
  18. You know what they say - what goes around comes around. Just hope how well you treated your ex comes back to you 10 fold. Good guys do finish first and things will turn around when you least expect it.
  19. Tell the Warden we wish her all the best. Hope they finally figure out what is causing her problems.
  20. Hope our members in Nebraska, South Dakota, and Iowa are okay with the tornadoes that went thru.
  21. Good luck !
  22. When you post a question it is important that you also post what year your bike is. Looking at your profile I see that you have a 2nd Gen (2006). This helps in trouble shooting your issue. Also depends on who you ride with. Do they ride 1st Gens? Harleys? This will help get you some interesting solutions.
  23. Thats okay. Don't think I read this one before.
  24. These guys have lots of videos posted of their stupidity. https://www.google.ca/search?q=you+tube+hollywood+stuntz&rlz=1C1AFAB_enCA462CA464&oq=you+tube+hollywood+stuntz&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i60l4j0.5431j0&sourceid=chrome&espvd=210&es_sm=93&ie=UTF-8
  25. Check out the 2nd video on http://www.thepassinglane.ca/2013/10/motorcyclesuv-encounter-turns-ugly-then-uglier.html ...but only if you want to become more upset about this group of riders. As a summary.... lane splitting, blocking intersections, going thru red lights, riding on the SIDEWALKS, wrong side of the road, harrasing anyone and everyone.... They should all be thrown in jail.
