I third it. We used it last summer for our 10,000 km (6,200 mile) trip West. You can put in things like : - start of day - how often to take a break and how long each break will be - gas mileage you get, cost per gallon/liter = will tell you fuel cost - how many hours to ride each day, end of day (with flexibility) - start/end/way points (way points as in things you want to see along the way) - for way points you can put in how long you want to spend seeing the sight individually (you might put in 30 minutes for one point, couple hours for another....) The program will show you the optimum route, will show you where you'll be at the end of each day (if you stay to your schedule). Knowing where your end of day stopping point will be you can have it show you hotels/camp grounds/restaurants in the area. The program will also tell you things to see and do along the route (based on criteria you choose - State/Provincial Parks, historic sights, scenic views, etc). We took a laptop along with us and at the end of the day reviewed where we were, adjusted the route based on when/where we actually stopped for the day, added or removed points of interest, dragged the route to roads we learned about as we went, then reloaded it to our Garmin Zumo 660. I installed "Mad Maps" to the Garmin as well and used it to add way points to our route or took side trips as it pointed out things we weren't aware of. (Mad Maps loaded to the Garmin didn't load routes...just points of interest). For planning our trip I used State/Provincial web sites to pick and choose what we wanted to see, added them to Streets and Trips...then removed places that didn't fit our time frame. I also used web sites like : America's Byways National Scenic Byways America's State Parks DiscoverAmerica Firestone Legendary Drives MAD MAPS Scenic Road Trips Travel and Tourism Sites for U.S. States and Territories U.S. National Park Service USA Travel and Tourism Guide, Tourist Attractions, Destinations RoadTrippers I know this is a little more than what you asked.... but for trip planning, I hope it helps ! For any State or Province you are going to, do a search on the internet for the State/Province/City "tourism". Stop as you cross borders at the tourism offices for free maps and pamphlets. Be flexible on your route, what you want to see (add and remove places as you go), factor in rain days or non-riding days. For non-riding days, make use of them to see museums, local sites. I have other travel tips which depending on your experience might help. If you want to chat, let me know.

LOL - okay, lets add another wrinkle to this... During the year, including my home Province, I rode in a total of 16 Provinces/States.

We did 20,000km in 2013

Gotta print that for my garage. Have it as the back ground on my work laptop....have to show the HD riders so they know it is a common HD issue and not just them.

Are they the Signal Dynamics run/turn/brake lights?

Tire Mileage Question
XV1100SE replied to RAm5700's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
In my opinion....E3's front and rear are the way to go. I put the stock size front on but some go with a slightly narrower E3 for handling improvement. -
Congratulations ! Would like to go for a ride but -13c/8F is a bit on the cold side.

I'm in Kitchener as well and have an '09 RSV. Have 60,000km on it and did a 10,000 trip West this summer. Several members in Ontario so you'll have lots of help with carb tunes or help spending money (show you what accessories look like). Carbs are reliable and easy to tune. We were at 12,000' altitude in the summer in 30F temps and absolutely no issues with the carbs. I have a carb tune and also recommend running Seafoam motor treatment thru the fuel occasionally. I use Seafoam for winter storage.

What I would want is something that would connect to the bike's intercom and allow cordless connection to the helmets. I like using the cb during group rides and when I'm on the highway/interstate and would want to know if using this product and bluetooth head sets would provide this capability. To all....a happy and prosperous New Year. Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas !!!

With the subjects that get posted...you can tell most of us are between riding seasons !

That is what makes this forum different. Civil discussions like this can take place. To all on the site..."Happy Holidays", "Merry Christmas", "Feliz Navidad" or whatever is appropriate !

Per stats http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_religious_populations) "The CIA's World Factbook gives the world population as 7,021,836,029 (July 2012 est.) and the distribution of religions as: Christian 31.59% (of which Roman Catholic 18.85%, Protestant 8.15%, Orthodox 4.96%, Anglican 1.26%), Muslim 23.2%, Hindu 15.0%, Buddhist 7.1%, Sikh 0.35%, Jewish 0.2%, Baha'i 0.11%, other religions 10.95%, non-religious 9.66%, atheists 2.01%. (2010 est.)" (I changed the format for easier reading) Based on those percentages...you should only say "Merry Christmas" to 1/3 of the population. That is why stores tell their staff to say "Happy Holidays", to not offend the other 2/3rds. Due to national holidays, most people are off between Dec 25 and Jan 1 so saying "Happy Holidays" covers everyone. If the U.S.A. and Canada were to recognize Muslim or Chinese holidays instead of Catholic them our holidays would be at different times of the year. (following dates/info from Wikipedia) For Chinese New Year you should say "Kung Hei Fat Choy" is based on the Lunar new year and is centuries old : 2014 date Friday, January 31, Horse 2015 date Thursday, February 19, Goat My ancestry is Ukraniane and according to the Julian calendar January 6th is Christmas Eve, and January 7th is "Jordan" or Epiphany. Should I celebrate Dec 25th or Jan 7th? Would you be offended if as the January 7th date I said Merry Christmas then, and not before Dec 25th? Would you consider me odd (no comments Carl ! ) For Muslim's there are two official holidays in Islam: Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha. Eid Al-Fitr is celebrated at the end of Ramadan (a month of fasting), and Muslims usually give zakat (charity) on the occasion. Eid Al-Adha is where Muslims usually sacrifice an animal and distribute its meat among family, friends and the poor. Both Islamic holidays follow the lunar calendar, and thus move each year relative to the solar calendar. The Islamic calendar has 12 months and 354 days on a regular year, and 355 days on a leap year. Wars have been fought on religion. We need to remain understanding of peoples beliefs. Diversity is what the U.S.A. and Canada are built upon...it is the immigration to North America centuries ago that made our countries what they are. When I left work today, I said "Merry Christmas" to those I know celebrate Christmas and "Happy Holidays" to those that I know are Muslim or "other". If one of my Chinese co-workers says "Kung Hei Fat Choy" to me, I'll wish them a "Happy New Year". Sorry for the long post. Knowledge is a good thing and anything we learn is useful. Don't be "tolerant" of others but be understanding and accepting....whether someone is Catholic, Muslim, or Athiest.

Apparently if someone wishes you a "Merry Christmas"/"Happy Holidays"/"Happy xxxxxxxx" you are supposed to say "same to you". When you think about it though, not all religions celebrate Dec 25th as a religious holiday. Why should someone that doesn't have the same faith be forced to take that day off work and work on a day that is a religious day to them? I think diversity should be celebrated....therefore, every day in the year that has some major significance to any religion, culture, country should be a day off work for ALL of us. PAID holiday! We'd have more days off than working days.

I understand the intent of the OP's post but as mentioned by Darthandy... WWII was well under way by the time the U.S.A. joined the Allies. It should also be mentioned that although the U.S.A. played a large role in many of the decisive battles in the Pacific and in Europe, they weren't the only countries involved in the battles nor the sole reason the Axis fell. Even in the Korean war, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan.... it was a coalition of forces that fought and died.

I've had "Original S.W.A.T." boots for about 3 years and they are about the most comfortable boots I've worn. The waterproof ones are definitely waterproof ! Earlier this year I got a pair thru work that are green patch (construction) rated and they are still among the lightest and most comfortable boots I've worn. I did a search and for those people that wear them (cops, airport security, etc) that wear them day in/day out in rough conditions... they wear better than most boots.
