Ok Guys time to check your nuts!
XV1100SE replied to M61A1MECH's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
If you are going to be checking the the tightness of the front end.... do the test to make sure the steering head is tight enough. Makes a big difference. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=511 -
Did you put Seafoam in the oil or just the gas ? Seafoam in the bottom end is good too but most wait until close to an oil change then run it for 100 miles or so to flush out the bottom end. If you run it in the oil then you'll get "smoke" thru the pipes.

Please help us pray....

Really glad he has progressed as much as he has. Considering his condition from the accident...he is doing great ! -
Wait until tomorrow. If you haven't played basketball for a while, you'll find out which muscles you haven't used for a while.

gen II lower fairing running lights
XV1100SE replied to HalLootsinator's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Extending out beyond the engine guards would concern me. If the bike went over on its side, wouldn't the lights be pushed into the lower cowling and break it? -
Bad conditions in the area today... -16c (3F) now... falling to -26c (-15F) by Friday morning. Lots of accidents.... - highway 401 between Delhi and Cambridge - 30 car pile up. The light bar is listed as "obsolete" on the Yamaha site. I did a google search and it looks like they have them at http://www.partzilla.com/parts/detail/yamaha/YP-STR-4XY35-40-00.html?gclid=CJ3asOKZ67wCFYY7MgodZF8AAQ - $130 (STR-4XY35-40-00) According to Boats.net the old part number is replaced with http://www.boats.net/parts/detail/yamaha/Y-4XY-H54B0-V0-00.html (4XY-H54B0-V0-00) As Yamaha phases out the Venture accessories, good to get one when you find one in stock if you want one. Also get the spacer - talk to SlowRollWV.

Sorry to hear about your Mother's health issues.

Keeping in mind that I work for Toyota.... The Prius is a very nice car. Can't go wrong with Toyota or Honda vehicles. Even the Korean cars are really good now. As for pet peeves... left lane hogs should get tickets if they don't move over. But, how about the ones that on a 3 lane highway drive in the middle lane and go slower than the trucks in the slow lane? Or the ones where you go to pass them and that is when they wake up and speed up so you can't pass them. I like the hybrid or "Smart" cars....especially when I park my 8 cylinder Mustang beside them. Just the thought of a gass guzzler parked beside a car that "sips" fuel. Parking the RSV beside a Smart car with the same vehicle length... now that is funny. And a comment on cost of a hybrid vs a gasoline car.... yes, hybrids save money on gas, but factor in the cost of replacing the batteries in 7-10 years... it actually evens out in cost of ownership. As for the environment... disposing of batteries isn't very friendly. If you are looking to buy a hybrid that is in the 7-10 year old range.... consider the cost of replacing the batteries before you buy. Oh... and the ones that speed up as I go to pass them or tailgaters who could move to the fast lane..... nothing like dropping a gear and putting the pedal down with an 8 cylinder and leaving them in the dust.

Fuel Pump - Symptons ?
XV1100SE replied to BradT's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have to agree that if the symptoms start showing, fix or replace the pump. Mine cut out no me twice last fall (with at least a month in between). Rather than taking the chance on a 3rd time that it wouldn't restart.... the dealer replaced it under warranty. First time it happened I was doing 90km/h and the engine quit. Pulled to the side of the road and after about 5 minutes of letting it sit it fired up again. 2nd time I was on the 403 doing 120km/h. Got to the shoulder and letting it sit didn't do the trick. Gave the side cover a couple good hits and it fired up. I was just glad that it didn't quit while we were on our trip West and it waited until we got back. If your pump is acting up...do something before it gives up totally. -
New to me bike, has issues
XV1100SE replied to CMCOFFEY's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
As a suggestion, check the dates on the tires. Anything older than 7 years needs to be replaced. Coolant should probably be changed, brake/clutch fluid, and rear gear oil. -
Happy birthday !

Don't know if anyone has told you lately, but Carl.... you are the best !!! If others can't make it on the 15th.... then please go with your original date.

Will Bluetooth work with the 2nd Gen CB's?
XV1100SE replied to YamaDuck's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yamaduck.... When you pair your headset to the iPhone thru bluetooth, you are able to answer calls and listen to music because you have two way audio between those two devces. The issue becomes how to have two way audio to the bike's audio system. The aux jack on the cassette is an input only and not two-way audio. On my bike, I have a Garmin Zumo 660 and use bluetooth to pair to my Blackberry. The Garmin is connected to the bike using a BuddyRich cable. The BuddyRich cable connects to the bike's audio system inside the fairing (input/output). I use a wired connection from my headset to the bike and with this set up I can listen to music from the gps/radio/cassette, talk on the phone, and use the cb. If you could hook up a smartphone to the bike using a cable like the BuddyRich cable you'd need in/output jacks on the smartphone and an application that would pass your audio from the bluetooth headset thru the phone to the bike. Don't think this exists. -
When you say decals I'm assuming you mean the Venture badges on the sides of the tanks rather than the disclaimer stickers. To remove the badges, you can use something like a fishing line and work it under the badge to separate it from the tank. It is held on with double sided tape so a bit of patience and it will come off. As for tank shape....I believe the tank is the same whether it is a '99 or a '13. Not much changed over the years of the 2nd Gen.

I'm not happy. We already have a family event on the 8th and 23rd of March. Can you change it to the 15th ?

Congratulations on the new ride !

Too many members gloating about being able to ride when the majority of us have to wait. A moderator needs to delete this thread. Think we should add year round riding to the politics/religion restrictions.

So that means that the USA has to keep BIEBER !!!!
