  1. Thanks Saddlebum, that's exactly my plans. We live in the country and have lots of areas to pratice in.
  2. Thanks for the response Puc. Actually, that's why I'm going with dual purpose. So he can learn to ride and utilize bike later to drive to school.
  3. My son (15 yo) is just getting into riding motorcycles and I'm looking for a reasonable dual purpose bike. He hasn't had much practice riding so for his benefit (and mine) I'd like to find a nice 250 reasonably priced. Any folks out there got one in the garage you want to get rid of? Would like to keep below 1500.00 if possible
  4. Glad your OK and bike was an easy fix. But what impresses me the most is your abundant optimism. Impressive to say the least and appreciated for those who can see it. God Bless
  5. Her birthday is the 17th so you still have time. Thank you
  6. Actually anywhere would be great, any states or countries. Just trying to get a large variety to be sent. Wonder if I should edit the title or start a new one????
  7. Bump for a good cause
  8. Following this. 3 times now I have been cruising along for many miles and the engine just cut out. Vapor lock. The last time I disconnected fuel line below the fuel filter and it filled back up. Up and running. No idea why
  9. Thanks guys, it means a lot to them otherwise I wouldn't bother you.
  10. Any and all states would be great. My cousin has a friend who is making a collage for her young daughter and sent me this message "A friend of mine is making a collage for her daughter for her September birthday and wants to get postcards from all around the world. I wondered if you guys would do me the favor of sending me a postcard from your area and say "Happy Birthday Hope" on them. You can send them to me at Vance, 2427 E Park, Pierre, SD 57501." anybody who can assist in this I would be very grateful. If you can great, if you can't then that's ok too. Ride safe and God Bless. Mike
  11. Thanks for for the concern AND the phone calls of help. Turns out it was a vapor lock. While on side of road I pulled gas line to check just for that and filter had fuel. After getting it towed (That is another story in itself) the mechanic did EXACTLY the same thing I did after he checked for spark and fuel line opened up. Bike was running. Finished trip and am now back home as of last night. I really appreciate the phone calls offering assistance (Drawing a blank of members names but will post it when I get phone charged up) Thanks Russ for getting the ball going. Your a good man (even if you are a dirty old bird)
  12. I Might have an extra set. Let me look around. Thinking a friend gave me a pair right after I bought some. Not sure I didn't already pass them on but I'll look.
  13. Welcome Lenny. Hope you stay around and share your travels. As for your question, I think the main solution for many has been leveling links on rear. I installed them and felt it helped me considerably. I believe there's someone on here who builds them. Look around and I think you'll find so many helpful folks you'll be forever clicking the TY button.
  14. Well, looks like my first trip from Iowa is going to be Thunder Bay Ontario and then back around to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. 5 days, 1700 miles or so... talk about cramming. yuck but you take rides when you can get them.
  15. Welcome to one of the best motorcycle groups on the internet Bob. RSTDdog has the right idea. I still have all the parts he had and install them whenever I'm going on long solo ride. Eventually, I plan on getting a new victory and will use that for touring and RSTD will be my solo bike only.
  16. I don't know what the laws were in your state at that time but I'd say you probably made the right decision.
  17. Did I miss how you lost weapon to begin with? Sorry, things like this peek my attention if it's abuse of authority. If it's of personal nature, then just tell me to mind my own business.
  18. Bob, removing the back seat and putting a luggage rack in place completely changes the look of scoot. Throw in the seat rail and the safety chrome really shines up. Now go one more step and install the saddle bag spacer chrome and folks in space will be wearing sunglasses. :big-grin-emoticon: I'll see if I can help locate a luggage rack for ya.
  19. TFinlay, Welcome, were glad your here. We have a lot of members from Canada on this site. You should look around and get to know some. Great folks.
  20. Anybody ever approached them to see if a large amount was ordered we could get a discount? Just curious
  21. EUSA, I'm sure she does some beautiful work, but I have someone who is going to do all the work on them. I just need the shapes and I'm sure that's not something I could ask of her. Kind of like, I'll bring my own steaks and cook them in your restaurant. Just let me use your spices lol.
  22. Does anybody have their mud flaps off their bike right now that could trace the design for me? Just need the shape so I can get some custom ones made. Either a Venture or RSTD will work.Need both front and rear of 2001 and newer I believe. Gladly pay postage. :big-grin-emoticon:Thanks and God Bless. Mike
  23. Thanks anyway. I have a friend who tools leather and would love to find someone who will cut to fit but leave finishing to me.
