  1. That is sooooooo cool. I like the positioning of second horn switch and the looks. Almost looks like it was made for it. Nice job
  2. I've priced tires at JP Cycles, their close to me. I just got off the phone with them and they don't give discounts on tires. He said their distributors give the lowest prices they can and won't reduce anymore. I bought mine from SWmoto and got real good prices even though one tire was the wrong one (Grrrr my fault too, I hate that. God Bless. Mike
  3. OK, I've sat here and read and reread some of the messages here. I think she pretty well gets the point. We can bash Harley's all day for this and that but what it comes down to is the household and not beat up her husband even though we might highly disagree with his approach. Imagine if her hubby read all these messages, As the saying goes "And that's when the fight started" I'm sure his friends are nice people and their minds are loyal to Harleys as ours are to Star. In the end it'll be what she should decide is best for her and peace in the family. My wife rides a Vstar by her choice and hers alone. She bought it and paid for it. I made suggestions but hers was the final decision. I suppose I'll make a few folks here think about my sanity but then again, I never claimed to be the most sane person to walk this great world God made for us. You asked for suggestions so here's mine, tell hubby you love him and appreciate his concern about your bike but would rather keep yours and spend the money on something you both want. God Bless all the great folks on this site and their concern is genuine for you. Hearts are in the right place. Mike
  4. My wife had a Suzuki Boulevard C40, I rode it and could swear I was back on a Harley Sportster. Shook the living heck out of me. How my wife rode it to SD and back is beyond me. She bought the 650 Vstar and swears it's a Cadillac. Think long and hard about that one. Those sportsters are beasts on your body. Perhaps if he's going to insist on you getting a Harley then perhaps a nice cheap Dyna wide Glide???? That might change his mind God Bless, Mike
  5. Not, it's a black wall sorry FLB 78 A lot of Harley's run that size on the rear. Actually, I was at a Harley shop to have it installed and he was interested in buying it for my price but said he didn't have anything it would fit??? Carbon One you got message. Thanks everyone for responses. God Bless. Mike
  6. When I ordered my tire from SWmoto I ordered the front size in a rear tire. Now I think I'm pretty well stuck with a new tire that won't fit anything I know. Anybody have a cross reference for tire sizes for the 150/80HB16 Rear in Dunlop 404's ? Shipping this thing back will cost more then probably putting it on Ebay. Any help will be appreciated. God Bless. Mike
  7. Put me in for 2 and where do you want the money sent? Oh yea, before I do this, do you have a picture of one already on a vest or something to give me an idea what it'll look like ?
  8. Had a 69 MGB GT when I was 17-18 yo. It had a 4 cylinder with overdrive on the column. If you didn't know it was on it always felt 4th gear was slipping at a certain RPM. That car was a ball. If a home is needed feel free to look me up lol. God Bless. Mike
  9. Should've known THAT was coming... I deserved that.
  10. I just ordered 2 tires on the 17th from SW MOTO and their supposed to be here today in Iowa. Seems pretty long since friend ordered a tire the same day sent from California and a different company and got it in 3 days. Tires I ordered were in stock. God Bless. Mike
  11. Actually Monty, I'm sure you'll get more feedback on this since theres so many 1st gen owners on here. They like to remind us how much faster they are and we remind them to keep tightening bolts cause the next thing to fall off might be a fender etc... Hope you get your answer. God Bless. Mike
  12. Here is the complete set that can be found in numerous locations. And as always... remember, if your riding a 1st gen your buying stock in american company, Proctor and Gamble, band aid.
  13. Well Pete, from the looks of things we should be hearing about your travels soon enough and how the elk are doing.JoDee and I are looking forward to meeting Hazel this summer so get your ass in gear and get healthy. Take care bro and our prayers are being said daily for you. Mike and JoDee Glover
  14. Put a couple pictures on initial message in hopes someone will know. Going to be putting them on here and ebay eventually to sell cheap.
  15. Sorry, should have been more precise. It came off of a 99 Royal Star TD. Not a Venture.
  16. I have a seat that appears to be a Corbin studded with back pilon passenger. Curious if anybody know what years it will fit besides 99 which it came off of. Thanks and God Bless. Mike
  17. No Thanks, Mines been done for over a year lol. Actually, I need to send the whole thing in for chroming. If you'd like to see how it was modified from just backrest to trunk and backrest I'd be happy to show ya pics. Perhaps you can improve on it (very likely in fact lol) Have fun, I love the options of windshield, no shield, backrest, trunk, no trunk, solo seat and the list goes on. If someone could come up with a buildable version that's not too cost prohibitive then it's a GREAT idea. I love the extra storage and lights. God Bless. Mike
  18. "Scrape or grind the chrome off" sacrilegious :doh:
