best tire recommendation
Mikealiasmike replied to kingtut's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Havent read one person besides me who has used the Pirellis. I got 15k out of last rear tire of theirs. Never have felt more sure of footing on any other tire I've used. Had a Dunlop 404d on and only got 6500 out of it b4 it was toast. Superstore has them for 97.00 delivered. I won't ever go back or change to anything else now. -
Went to dealer today to install a rear back tire and balance on my RSTD. While there I took a Victory Crosscountry for a test drive. Man what a bike. Powerful, balanced, shifted fantastic. Ride was a 8 out of 10. I was hardly in 4th gear doing 75 and rpm's were 2900 with plenty to go along with 2 more gears. Needs a higher windshield because of the buffeting which was terrible. In that last sentance was the ONLY complaint I had. After riding that bike I come to realize I've been riding an anchor. The crossroads or crosscountry will be in my garage next.

I'm heading there this morning just because they truely do care about their customers. Need to have tire mounted on rear and I won't go anywhere else unless it's an emergency. They sell Victorys also and I have test driven the Vision (wife didn't like the leg room) and the Cross Roads, that will be my next bike. Got T-shirts both times and an extra one just for being a customer. Tony the service manager is top notch and has given advice (even to save me money on DIY) he is EXTREMELY knowledgeable about our bikes. When I was looking at the Victorys, I even had service techs ask me if I wanted a salesperson to talk to because they were off somewhere taking care of other business. Now THIS is how a business should be run. Ride safe and see ya down the road. God Bless. Mike

One of your questions was alternative tires. I'm replacing my rear tire with a Pirelli Route66 150/90 15. Motorcycle superstore 96.99 free shipping. 2nd one I've bought. Got close to 15000 miles out of it. Never felt more sure footed then with that tire. Good luck with your quest. God Bless. Mike PS Last tire was a Dunlop D404 6500 miles and it's toast.

Had mine on my bike for several years now. Actually got a quantity buy on some and sold them to members here. Save and now know what speed I actually am going. Was correct to 1/8th mile of GPS on 50 mile ride. Close enough for me.

It's a new sport here in Iowa cause we really have nothing else to offer but miles and miles of corn and soy beans and yes, we were lucky those guys showed up. Could have made for a really miserable day.

Took wife down to river to fish on bike. First off the road leading down to parking area had deep ruts and washout area that would've love to have grabbed my tires, anybody who has lived near a state park knows what I mean. We finagal (sp) our way down to the lot and it looks pretty good for having been flooded a week or so ago so I start to position bike with trailer (had to carry poles, tackle box, cooler etc...) in a position that would be easy to pull right out. lo and behold rear tire drops down 3 inches. Now I mean like right now. Heck, wife stands all of 5'3" and she was flat footed while I appraised the problem and she held up the bike. Appears the sand on top was dry but underneath was like quicksand. It buried my 800 lb plus bike in a second. Detached the trailer to reduce weight on the rear axel and it was'nt gonna move. Luckily 2 guys showed up looking for a beer I think and pulled me backwards out of the mess. If they hadn't came along I wouldve been there till the sand dried or son-in-law came to get us. I've riden dirt bikes many times and pulled them out but none were as bad as this oversized paper weight. And that was my day. Oh yea, then the wife beat me catching fish. I think I need more beer. God Bless. mike

If it's the drivers backrest your looking for, I have one, can't remember the brand but since I got a new mustang seat with drivers backrest I don't need it. Here's the deal if you want. Pay shipping and make a donation to St. Judes for what you think it's worth. If interested PM me. God Bless. Mike

Remember to keep the pictures coming. Some of us would love to take that trip. Ride safe and God bless. Mike

I know what you mean Russ, If I'd had a way of cooking that bad boy I would've. Firm believer in PEOPLE EATING TASTY ANIMALS.

Something bigger? This thing WAS as big as a pheasant. Wasn't a hen pheasant either. But I might add, it wasn't as bad as the guy who took out a turkey. Now that would have been a sight.

I've hunted for many years, not so much lately, but have never gotten a partridge to put on my dinner table. Went to a bike rally in Soldier, Iowa over the weekend. Didn't want to camp this time so rented a motel room about 20 miles out. Was heading back from dropping some things off and there in the road is a partridge starting to cross from left to right. I try to slow down but bird had other ideas. Got up just as I was about to pass and poof, feathers are flying, material (being nice here is all over my boot) Bird hit my highway peg on left side. I say a few choice words thinking there goes the front shroud. Well, all said and done, other then my boots needing a cleaning bird broke nothing, made a mess and Mrs didn't even see a thing on back. Never knew those birds were that dang big. No I don't have pictures but if you want, feel free to head out to Soldier, Iowa and look for some feathers along with another mess that could be described as human made. God Bless and Ride safe. Mike

Didn't say he was "Civil" I said he was a "Servant" to civil people. We both must know him pretty well. Now as for his bride, she's a sweet heart and must work full time to keep him in check.
-
Or you can have it sent here and pick it up at PIP when JoDee and I go there. Sheese, have to explain everything to these civil servants.
