  3. Valve covers, The rear is the easy one to do it comes out the left side of the bike fairly easy but the front one is more pain I found the best way to remove the front valve cover is to remove the air filter housing and remove the YICA vacuum booster this will allow you to remove the plastic heat shield covering the valve cover plus give you more room to work with the valve cover goes out the right side of engine just turn here turn there angle here angle there you will soon get it out. I also used form-a-gasket to the valve covers to help hold in the new gaskets and I let the valve covers to set on a flat surface for awhile to allow the gasket to set up good in the valve covers so going back with them is less of a pain that way the gasket won't be falling out on you as for the heat shields I left mine out easier later on when doing the plugs never had any problems with that part but others like to fight with them while your in there might as well move you TCI unit from under the battery box and place it on top of your air filter lid easier later on if need be to service it. good luck let us know how things go buddy

Anyway RedNeck, What ever Big Guy just because you have one of the best looking Second Gen. around with all fancy work done. All I can say is if you ever get tired of your bike you can always ride one of ours if you don't mind being seen riding a First Gen. which does not need any fancy work done. .:rotf: P.S.Your still A-1 in my book Big Guy:)Hope to see you and Wolfie soon. buddy
  12. 86er I did the same thing I pulled off the front avon and put my old tire elite 2 back on ,heck it has 3/32 tread and it does fine with no problems at all.The Avon AM41 still has 6/32 tread left and I did not like the feel over 75 mph.It would not stay in place same as your bike. I will go back with Elite 2 (HOPE) if not - 404 front / Elite3 rear So Cutty you or anybody else wants my front Avon AM41 120/90-18 blackwall with 6/32 tread left give me a PM. Free Tire All I ask is cover for shipping. Buddy
  13. What ever.

  15. Thats the truth Bill.I seen some of the photo's of your pretty toys. And let me say this, the 83 beast knows when to keep its exhaust quiet. In its day and Time, I'd say the (Blue beast -YammerDan) would've had its time running with your pretty toys. My 83 beast has the V-Max Transmission & V-Max Final drive and I still would not test your Toys! But I hear for being stock the fastest Venture of them all were the 83 model's. But yet I still would Love to add the RSV to my Garage. Yeah I know buddy wanting a RSV buddy
  16. Harley Davidson has first dibs.contract locked down as I'm being told.which ever we're out of luck. buddy
  17. May have nothing to do with your bike,Some of the police cars we worked on had a rubbing sound like you were saying. We looked them over and found that the brake pads were causing the noise so we sanded on each end of the pads \ _ / making a small angle to the rotor which in turn rid the sound. This allowed the rotors to run cooler and also added the life of the pads, Since then we went with thermo quiet brake pads with no more brake sound.Sorry Ed hitting a dry hole on my end. buddy
  18. Hey big D, Yes you do have a Great wife.:cool10:Now take her out to eat and spoil her rotten and Tell her how much you Love her for taking care of you buddy
  19. Sorry Thom, Din't see you message untill now.I'm the second owner of the bike,as of now the bike has 76,210 miles.Scott - first owner ran mobil 1 oil in bike So I ran that for awhile but started seaping oil out gaskets-fixed that,So I switched over to Amsoil 10w40 cycle oil did ok engine ran cool & smooth but caused the bike to use some oil .So I asked Eddie my retired cycle mechanic what oil to use for the bike,he said Castrol works great and he's been mechanic on every bike made for 50+yrs.So I been using Castrol ever since with no problems. As for your Q? no I have not pulled my oil pan to check the o-rings,engine runs fine never crossed my mind.I always let the oil warm up first before I ride off and I never hot rod the bike when its cold either.I running Castrol 10w40 right now getting ready for winter here. You as well know Oklahoma weather. It will change over night. Wix filter & Castrol oil every oil change looks good, filter still in good shape buddy
