PS-- If I'm not mistaken, our Ambassador rides a 1st Gen also, doesn't he!? Can't mess with our elder statesman! Yep Dan he sure does. When we were in Eureka springs last year who lead the pack ? First Gen. Second Gen. followed up and they did excellent in the turns as well I have to give them credit for that. But the First Gen. just out performed the Second gen. all the way around Wild hair 39 - rustyrecycledtoy - bigin were leading the pack, they made those turns look easy. I myself was back in the pack, had Peggy with me so I had to take it easy on her, but I did get to do a couple of wheelies with her. So how many touring bikes do you know of that can do a wheelie with two up? Don't get me wrong I do like the Second gen. very much would Love to own one some day for touring the country. But for pure power and beast performance I'll stick with my 83 beast! buddy -
Thanks for your input even tho I bought from them before. They have good parts, slow shipping, and when it comes to replying to my emails - They don't!..... Since they came to this family group maybe they will improve their service? Will call around first and see what comes up. buddy

I noticed the other day that the 83 was smoking some on high rpm's sitting in the garage did some checking and found that my diaphragm's had pin holes except #4. Also checked the plugs all but #4 was trying to foul out - wet fuel. #4 excellent shape. diaphragm's that had pin holes also had traces of fuel in them except #4 which was dry. So what I'm asking is will a bad diaphragm cause the plugs to stay wet with fuel? #4 diaphragm is in good shape and the plug look great as well tan color. If not what would I be missing to cause the plugs to stay wet ? maybe float levels to high? plugs -caps-wires replaced first of last season - carbs synchronized What's funny is how well the beast runs too. good idle runs out good no dead spots just noticed it started smoking on high rpm- fuel. buddy

same as the guys on tool list but a few other items I carry "small long rope" in case a bike dies I can pull it to a safe area. "spark plug air hose" use for adding air to a flat tire " NASA warming sheet" help you stay warm on out of way area's "shake-up flash light" no batteries needed "old cell phone" w/charged battery 911 use only do not need a cell phone provider for 911 service. these are small items and do not use much space. buddy

Hey Chuck hope you can make it this year we missed you last year, Rosebud is thinking of getting together sooner maybe around March here in Okla. hope it works out - would like to see you. WPredock - Bill is hoping we can get together at the Same Inn this year or pretty close. Last year we were spread out and at times was hard getting together in the mornings for breakfast and riding times and yes there are plenty of Hotels-motels-inns, and yes this time of the year they most likely be booked solid again. This Year bill is wanting to get a head start and hope we can be closer together this time. Any body thinking of coming Go ahead and make reservations at the Edelweiss Inn - Cindy has set the blocks for the venture riders - no money down. So later on if you are not able to make it just turn your room over to another rider or due a cancellation. This way you'll have a reservation set aside for you now and you can get everything else worked out on the up coming months. Bill Thanks for planing another get together at Eureka Springs, Looking forward to seeing your ornery face again my friend. buddy

I know the meet is not until Sept. but being a biker town and a famous tourist town it is very wise to set your reservations now instead of waiting and hoping if there's any rooms left. Edelweiss Inn is one of the best Inn's in town and always full, Plus Cindy & Bryan are some of the nicest folks you could ever meet and they do excellent service and very biker friendly as well. Around behind the Inn is very quiet and wooded area along with a wood deck with tables and chairs which over looks deer coming out in the evening to eat grass. We had a blast last year and looking forward to seeing the family again. Ron&Peg

Hang in there LA, At first you scared me to thinking you were buying a second Gen. But this is good news, quiting smoking saves you money plus adds years back to your life which means more riding time. Sure did help me but it took 3-4 weeks to get the smoke out of my lungs. I said a prayer & quit cold turkey its the only way to go. Hope to see you soon LA untill then GOD Speed. If you need something to pass the time just pester Red Neck . buddy

I have an extra seat for the 83 Venture that I bought first of the year. I'm wanting to recover it in black velour cloth and at the same time install gel pads. I was going to have the local shop do it but after seeing their work I better off doing it myself which stinks as well. Do we have professional seat re-builders in the family? If so I would like to see if any of you could help me out. I'll pay for all shipping cost and items needed for the seat If money is needed up front for materials this is no problem either. Would like to have it done before June or July so this will also give someone plenty of time to rebuilt it. Give me a PM Thanks Buddy

Thom, Sounds like your going to be ordering some head gaskets:( & V-Max cams. You know if you had not moved out of Oklahoma I could give you a hand but since your not....enjoy that warm weather as your working on your motor while i'll be freezing my end off over here. buddy
-
Sorry to hear about your motor Thom, Also sorry to say yes you would need to pull your motor to remove the head or heads, If your wanting to go all out install some V-Max cams as well. One thing mine 83 does not have is the cams. Do have the trans & final drive V-Max but not the cams. Hope its just the oil ring on the water port sleeve buddy

Hey Bro, Must of been nice to Momma this year to score that nice unit? Then I got to thinking? did Teri really get that for you or for her? so to be asking where is it going to be mounted driver side or passenger side? Teri you spoil him to much and Michael you have the best girl around spoil her rotten too, hope we get to see you both soon if things go well we might run together up to Eureka Springs next year you can show off your new toy to me and Peg then. Merry Christmas Ron & Peg

Merry Christmas Red Neck Now remember not to shoot yourself in the foot. Last thing we want to hear is how you hurt yourself playing with your toy gun. And remember too much drooling on the gun will cause it to rust as well. I'm happy for you big Red. Merry Christmas my freind....... Buddy

I do not have photos on the computer yet. But I have installed a 12 disc CD player in the left saddle bag of the 83 Venture, cord remote on the steering panel and Peg has the cordless remote in my driver backrest bag. Been used for the last two years with no problems. Well post photos tomorrow afternoon. buddy
