Peg said if we dint have the Farm & Bills we would be moving to Arkansas! Yes it beautiful Country. It would take sometime to cover every road there. Some members have been living in Arkansas for years and still have not covered every road. Peg & I have been there 3yrs running and still not covered half of what is listed. There will be plenty of roads for everyone to ride.

A fellow I know has a HD sportster?anyway. He said the reason he trailers his is its not very comfortable so he trailers it where he needs to go then rides around then trailer it back home. He said that the trailer is his life line as well since he could not trust his bike? . He has around 3,000mi now, bike is 6yrs old. Told him my old 83 has 82,000+ mi he had to see it to believe it. Told him Peg & I came back from ST. Charles M&E on our RSV with close to 2,000mi and 603mi of that was on the last day driving straight home. Told him about our (Ambassador A.K.A. Wildhair39) has well over 300,000+ on his Motorcycles.... He said we were nuts.

Help.... will not run
buddy replied to cookieman's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
You said like the Fourth of July??? as for sparks or what? Does the engine turn over? or what? We Need more info. Several things can keep it from running. (Side stand switch) bad - (pigtail for pickup coils) bad connection - (kill switch) contacts acting up. (fuse) goes weak when under load. (ground wire or hot wire) loose or weak connection. -

oil pressure light came on
buddy replied to mother's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
My 83 did the same thing scared the heck out of my but my oil level was OK so I kept riding, did this a few times then the light stayed on. Found it was the bad soldering in the monitor display system. I went in and redid all the soldiering and everything is excellent now. Buddy -
Whats the use of having 5 gears when you can break the speed limit in second gear? I never rode the older wings but I seen a few of them with 200,000+miles on them so that alone tells me they have pretty good motors. As for the Venture I seen several with 165,000+miles and still on the road.As with any older motor there will be more maintenance involved as long its kept up they will last for many many years. I have the 83 Model and I still pull the front tire off the ground in first & second gear they have that much power for a tour bike(Father of the V-Max motor). I also like the way the Venture handles the road. Just like a sport bike lay the Venture on its side in the curves and almost touch the road and still have control. And as for me the V4 motors are pretty easy to work on due to the open area. Also The GL1800 Wings have went with the Venture design of the Timing chains and valve shim bucket. And I'm really impressed with GL1800's handling on the road just like my 83 Venture but only newer,so That tells me the Venture was way ahead of its time in the 80's. If Yamaha had done more advertising in the early days and listen to its customer the Venture might been the touring king today instead of the Gold Wing? But theres another story coming soon - Third Gen.Venture XVZ1800?

John we been praying and glad everything OK. But be careful on the medicine. They tend to make you say things that are not to be said.. Don't ask me how I know:headache: Sharon don't take it out on John if he tells you things like how he ate all your cookies and blamed the cat, or how he hid the remote control from you so he could watch his cartoons, or how he kept moving your drinking glass behind your back making you thing you are going nuts. He could not help it:starz: it was the Medicine. Did me no good Peg knows everything now:starz:well almost everything:rasberry: John Take care and get plenty of rest and do what the Doctor tells you and we will see you real soon. Sharon you get some rest too. Peg & I well see you both real soon.. God Bless....... Buddy & Snowflake

Well I'll be missing the Meet again this year but this time its my right knee. Doing a MRI on June 3 . I messed it up when I was changing out a water pump on a cat motor in a dump truck, move a way my knee was not intended to move and something popped bummer...... I was going to ride up with Snarley Bill & Roadkill and maybe some of the other family members next week, but there's always next year....I hope. Everyone have fun and eat plenty food for me and send some photos of the pond monster too..... Buddy

Well I found the problem, When they installed the Progressive Springs they did not bypass the anti dive unit. And in this case the anti dive plunger was sticking closed and causing the left fork to stay stiff all the time. I found the answer over in GWRRA.org tech forum. By removing the plunger valve cap from the anti dive unit and installing a nickle this allow the right amount of clearance to free up, and by pass the anti dive unit. Drill a hole in the center of a nickle and placing it between the plunger cap and anti dive unit this allowed the left fork to work freely again. So in all it only cost me 5 cents to fix my problem. Well I finally got around and played with the Venture today with a bad right knee, hurt it at work so I been walking around like a old bull rider. I go in June 3 for an MRI. Anyway I checked the module and it seems OK see no hot spots in the backing plate and all connections seem OK. checked all wires that I could and found no problem, I did find that my #3 coil is dead and my #4 seems a bit weak so it sounds like my coils are taking a dump. From what I read this Sounds like a common problem with these Second Gen? rear coils going out... So Now I'm looking at replacing the rear coil so I can get this Venture going and sell it to pay doctor bills and get out from under another cycle payment. I will let you know how things turn out with the coil replacements... Buddy

Peg & I took the 01 Wing out for a ride tonight and I have to say these Progressive Springs in the front are awful hard, and makes the ride very uncomfortable. I noticed the front end was hard when I test drove the Wing, it was rough and figured I get used to the stiff ride, But I have to say this is enough for me. I did the bounce test with the front brakes applied and I could hardly get the forks to move down any and I weight 230lbs, man these things are stiff. As for going down the road I can see them move some over rough roads but not much and the front end feels hard as a rock, you can feel every crack in the road. Also did a power brake they go down maybe 1 - 1 1/2" does this sound like their way to stiff? I never had progressives before and I'm going in the forks and see what I can do to get a smoother ride. I just may go back to stock set up I loved the ride the 08 put out. I did notice that the 01 Wing with progressive springs handle the roads better in MO & AR than the 08 Wing did . But I rather have the smoother ride affect.... Has anyone did any changes to the Progressive Springs to get a smoother ride? Buddy

We're heading out at 4pm today, waiting on Peg to get off work. Heading up to MO. today Then swing back down to the Hub tomorrow. Hope to be there at or before 4PM with Baby Blue (01 Gold Wing). RoadKill came up with the name Baby Blue. Blue is the color and its Peg's new baby so the name stuck.... I may be heading into some rain this coming weekend on Baby Blue. So I have all my rain gear ready just in case. Peg is caging it so I will be the only one getting rained on. Peg thinks that's kinda funny. See y'all soon Buddy
