I had the 1983 model #208 fast and eats the curves like candy:happy34:Loved that bike very stable and reliability was out standing but has no leg room like the Second Gen. which I love very much I can stretch out and relax on long trips and not worry about my knees swelling up....
-
By the way things are looking there's a lot of folks going over to the Gold Wing & Harley Davidson models. A lot of folks are getting tired of waiting on Yamaha As for me it looks like I'll be going back to the Second Gen. I can get a better deal $$ on a Venture than the Gold Wing & HD plus my knees don't hurt on the Second Gen. like they do on the Wing yet Peg Loves the ride the Wing puts out.. Maybe make a cross breed 'Venture Wing" then the both of us would be happy.... Time will tell............ If there is a NEW 3RD Gen.Venture wonder how far the value $$ will fall on the first & Second Gen.????????

Eck's first photo is how you get down to the air filter and he still ain't done either still have to move wiring aside and remove the filter cover too:headache:

Spark plug apperance question
buddy replied to dingy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Kinda hard for me to tell the color of the plug:think:? possible blackish color? engine maybe just a hair rich? Plug should have a brown to a grayish tan color mine look more like the grayish tan color when I remove them -
Eck thats cold bro. Hey wait a minute I haven't heard from Wild hair either? He did say he was going North.?
-
Boy thats no joke Second Gen. much better ride glad I'm going back but thats a another story:whistling:
-
OK that sounds much better.....

If the first gen. is such a good bike why did you have 4 of them you figure one would be good enough? was you needing parts?

The GL1800 is at the top of the list for best handling & performance for a touring bike but their biggest weakness is their a pain in the rear to work on. If your not mechanically inclined your going to hate working on these things Its bad when you have to remove part of the dash just change out the air filter When I was installing the CB on our Wing Peg came out to give me some ice tea and when she saw I had it all over the garage floor she said I hope you know where everything goes because it looks like a bomb went off:think: I had parts everywhere me being a mechanic I dint think twice about it but for some others it would have been a nightmare To change out the water pump you have to pull the motor. They do have a million mile club and you tell them your Wing has 80,000 to 100,000 miles on it they will laugh saying thats chicken feed so that has to say something about these motors

Sounds like I need to cut out the middle man and talk to Dawn instead:rotfl:

If I dint have the RSTD I buy your bike and yes that is a heck of a deal.HMMMM I may just buy it anyway? It wont last long at that price!!!!!!!
-
I like my 06 RSTD and yes its different indeed I added the 86 First Gen. trunk and Second Gen. hand rails to mine so Peg can ride as well I made my own frame work then I added the HD look alike fairing to it as well still working on it but it sure does ride really good Peg said the 06 RSTD has a smoother ride than the 03 Venture we sold to Monty Looking forward to seeing your new ride:cool17:
-
Only the first Gen. rider get confused wonder why they still riding these old dinosaurs. Dang it now I miss my old 83 beast.....:think:Now I'm cunfused:rotfl:

I been looking for another Gold Wing, Yet I miss that venture too wish I kept it now, but I'm glad you have it since I know you will take care of it!! If I find another 03 Venture in that color for sale I may just jump on it? Sure is Pretty.....

When it comes right down to it you are the one that has to make the final decision on this, family members will give their own opinion on how you should live your life and I see it every time I go see my Dad on my bike he is 75 yrs old and has a pace maker now and he loves looking at my bike saying how much he would love to ride again but his health will not allow it now his wife (not my Mom)told him to stop riding bikes over 20yrs ago and he did, he did everything she said he should do over the years, and now he regrets every minute of it he loves her but he said he missed out on his life of riding bikes and now he wished he had it back. some times I hate riding over there on my bike because he misses riding so much but yet his eyes glow seeing me riding the bike saying I was living his dream now. And his bad health is not from motorcycles but from falling off a tractor trailer breaking his back - oil rig tool breaking and busting up his right knee two car wrecks leaving his left side weak NOT once was he ever hurt riding a bike! goes to show everyday life is just as dangerous !!!
-
Thanks for the info. Bill:happy34: If you ever get the urge to sell it give me first shot. There are two GL1800 I would love to have one is yours and the other is Roadkills Both the same year and same color.

Pat If it weren't for Snowflake I still have that Road killer:headache: With the trouble I had with my knee and hosp.bills at that point in time She talked me into selling it wish I never did now!! You being a good friend and knowing it has a good home helps but I still miss it a lot:(
