I can hear the whine on my RSV even with the Bub mufflers at 65-70mph. Most of the time I just tune it out with the radio and enjoy the ride. I run Rotella T 15w40 and the bike seems to like it shifts great with no problems but I will try the 5W40 Rotella T syn. next oil change and see if it helps with the Whine?

These XVZ motors can take some heat!! My 83 had the gauge and the fan would not come on until around 220-230F but would cool off pretty fast and shut off as for my RSV the fan hardly comes on but when its does it doesn't run for long both hardly ever came on for me and I never once worried about it! These motors are built pretty dang good. Now if you want heating issues my Friends Ultra Classic now theres you some heating issues before he did some adjustments on his fuel mixture his oil temp gauge was reading 300-390F and it was burning him up pretty good got to the point he hated setting in traffic due to the heat was cooking his legs. He still has heating issues but not as bad.. Yep Who ever designed these XVZ motors were a head of the times.... Let the motor do its job while you enjoy the ride.........

If you ever get the chance to work on a GL1800 Gold Wing you'll be happy as a dog in a bone yard to work on your Venture. GL1800 Gold Wing = to check the air filter you have to remove the dash- false tank area-radio system-seat-side panels -etc - etc thats just for the air filter.... Don't get me wrong Gold Wing is an excellent bike and I wish I still had mine but the Venture is much easier to work on...

OH Boy you did it now......... Rotella T 15w40 and Super Tech 6607 Looking in trying out the 5w40 Rotella T syn next oil change before the trip to the HUB Rally Valvoline GL5 diff.lube..... as long as its has GL5 spec you will be OK

When I worked at Wallie world the safety data sheets stated super tech was made by penzoil. And our O'Reilly guy states their oil is made by warren oil? go figure.. who knows?? And as for Fram filters...No thank you I seen to many of their filter element come apart. I'll stay with the Super tech filter so far so good.

I agree sounds like the drain tube is plugged up you can pull the tube off the fire wall and most likely this will let it drain out, like stated it is plugged up with anything from a spider Webb - mouse bedding - June bugs - just about anything will plug this drain tube. easy to clean just pull the tube clean it out and stick back on. If you have no drain tube attached to the fire wall use a air hose to clear the tube by sticking the air hose against the tube and blow it out slowly or use a coat hanger and make a small hook out of it and clean it this way as well I done a few in the past........ Mike I ride with a guy once in a while who rides off center on his motorcycle to either side and doesn't even know it until we say something anyway his rear tire looks like this feathering on the sides and the center is smooth..... its kinda funny following him some times because it looks like he might fall off..... I'm out of popcorn so I got me some ice cream instead..... Actually I had the Run flat Kumho CT on my GL1800 GW and it had an excellent ride!! we rode with a fellow member going to Tennessee on their RSV and their regular Kumho CT was giving them fits RSV was all over the road could not keep it straight yet I had no problems what so ever with my CT, Seeing all the trouble our friends had with their CT on their RSV I decided for our RSV I'll stick with the MT.. Once the CT was replaced with a MT tire their problem went way.... Funny how some have no problem what so ever with the CT on the RSV yet others have nothing but trouble with theirs?? Note : the run flat CT has a very stiff sidewall so that made a big difference compared to the regular Kumho CT. theres no Run-Flat available for the RSV.....
