I had that too when I first got the bike. Not sure what I did other than cleaned up the grounds and power leads. Pretty much cleared it up. Occasionally I still get it, Brad

Mine has recently begun acting up seems it cuts out. Hoping mine is the same problem. I too get a buzzing and humming in my CB but it has to do with the Intercom. If its too high I can get a real loud shriek when the passenger unplugs there headset. Have no clue where to look for this one. Think it may be a ground wire somewhere. Brad

Met her a few years back when she came over for one of Reiny's rides. There is also Wow Skunk from New York that we met in Toronto. Brad

Naugh-T rides a Virago, but she did ride my First gen once, and she was able to pick up the 2nd gen but not lately the kick stand is leaning a bit more lately and it makes it a bit harder to lift up. Brad

Curious how far you ride to work. If it is cold out, let it idle while getting ready, then a short ride through town to get to work, I am thinking you are actually draining the battery. It sits all day in the cold (what oil viscosity?), and if you don't give it a good run (some higher RPM's) before putting it away, the battery may have drained. This could be normal, with the cold and the charging system. Brad

Can not comment on the car tire but sounded like to little weight on the tongue. I am a strong believer that even at 20 or 30 lb tongue weight it may not be enough, depending on what you have in your trailer or better yet where the weight is loaded. I believe if you have a heavy load behind the tires and compensate it with a heavy weight on the tongue you may still have a tongue weight of 20 or 30 lbs but you may technically have too much weight behind the tires causing that lovely sway. I think it is all about packing. Heavy loads go over the axles, or towards the hitch, then pack around the heavy weighted object. I do not worry about tongue weight I just make sure it is has a good load on the tongue.(it may even be 40 lbs). Works everytime for me and never had to shift the load around and have pulled the trailer many miles without problems. AND following Naugh-T I have to run pretty hard to catch up some time. Brad

High Output Stator from Buckeye Performance
BradT replied to Joopster55's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I am no electrical guru (actually I do not like it) but I did not think most were changing the rectifier. On the second gen the rectifier is rated for 30 amps. But the stator produces 30 amps at 5,000 rpm. My understanding was similar to your comments above however with the higher output stator I assume that you will get the 30 amps at an engine rpm lower than the 5000 rpm. If this is correct then this is where the benefit would come from as most people do not drive around at 5000 rpms. Brad- 69 replies

Well we had another good time at our SCRC Halloween party. There was a few Ventureriders that showed up and here some pictures. BongoBob should have a few to add. Brad

I had one just like it and it is a Canadian model, which was not sold in the states. It is a Std, so no frills, no air suspension, CB, radio or Cruise. Other than that same bike. It is a nice colour though Brad

The decision obviously is yours and only you know if you can make it not. You may want to build up and go out in 2 days on back roads and hit the highway coming home. It normally takes longer if you travel the same speed as you would in the car. I find you have to pick up your speed a bit on the bike to make similar times. Normal maintenance is all that is needed to prepare, and you should be trouble free. Enjoy your trip. Brad

Ford were bad for this. I always used a tooth brush and the cleaner to clean the seating surfaces of where the throttle plate closes. Do this when ever you check the air filter or changing it. BRad

That is after you can manage to turn it on. Brad

Our youngest started feeling bad yesterday, headaches, sore throat, upset stomach and woke up sweating today. Had a fever of almost 102 a couple hours after Tylenol. It does not seem to drop the fever. I guess we just have to watch it Brad

Agree when you go buy a Second Gen ! Brad -
Now that is funny. Wonder if it works for Provinces, A lot of places will charge regular price if you do not purchase the deal. (Corner stores and Zellers). So really Carl how much would you charge for just one ! Brad

Did not find you today, as I drove around looking for you Brad PS. Said way to keep this bumped up to the top but it is working.

Ask her how much she does drink. ? She might have told him she will come back in the middle of the week to buy two more. Brad

I am not jumping on you but I believe this may be a tad harsh. Not that I disagree with your comments on that tire and I know you know allot (more than most) about these bikes and probably ride harder than anyone. To me, N3FOL did not want (or could not afford) to change both tires and it seems to me his decision may have been on the fact he does not want to mix the tire brands. Also his riding style may not require anything better. I am not the smartest here but I run the Dunlop 404's WWW because of appearance only. Not the best tire I agree but it suits me, and my choices are limited (for WWW). I got 22,000 miles on front and there was probably 1/16" left. I changed two back tires in this same mileage, and both were changed before there were worn out. I was going on a trip and wanted to have new tires so I changed them for a piece of mind. I ride two up often and pull a trailer, and ride the highways often. Brad
