All the bars on my fuel gauge blinked a few times, then only one bar blinking on the empty mark. I pulled it out the sending unit and one wire was broken off and it could have been re-soldered. Very easy to check after draining most of the fuel but you may want to replace the gasket when checking it. You can actually check it with a multimeter, with out removing the tank. Brad

I agree with the fuel additive in the gas and removing the battery, as I fully charge it once a month with a trikle charger only takes a couple of hours, then disconnect it. I personally don't like starting it in winter as I am not confident you can get it warm enough to burn of the moisture. Idling will take a long time to fully charge a battery. This is the way I store them but others ways work well for others. Also if stored on concrete I always put the tires on rubber mats. Brad

Gary I pay just over a 1,000 per bike and it is expensive but it costs the same for the cars. Most insurance company's do not have 500,000 Public liability anymore most are 1 or 2 million. 100 bucks is a good deal but full coverage for an 1983 ??? (is full coverage collision as well ?) Brad

Fuel Gauge acting up on my 2007 Venture

Not sure exactly how it works but believe it is pretty simple. Had a different problem with blinking and needed a new sending unit, Brad- 12 replies

HAHA, I guess I could have fudged the numbers, but didn't. Greg, I can get the big variances with the jumps on two lane roads and sticking to the speed limit. Okay 5 mph over based on the GPS speed. I find that the interstates and running pretty hard really drains the fuel, even worse than city driving. Could also be that the tank was not as full as the last one. Hard to determine an decent average on one tank when the tank is so small. Brad

I was checking MPG when we went away this past summer and then when I got home I just kept keeping track. Attached is a couple of charts with all the fuel records, with a trailer and without. The first page is pretty accurate, but the second page may be off one or two fill ups either way. To those who get higher MPG, I don't know how you do it, but I am sure we do not drive the same. PS. Takes too long at every fill up so I am not checking anymore Brad

The fuse block fit well behind the battery on the plastic cover. Two small screws hold it in place quite well. If you need a picture send me an email at brad.tuckett@metso.com and I will send a couple BRad

Yup need a backrest, as it helps the lower back. IF you do not have riding pegs you can put your foot on the top side of the crash bar above the peddle and shifter, that takes some pressure off. If you like quiet your gonna half to fix the clutch, Wow riding this time of the year must be cool. BRad

Before you do this drive it on a long trip. You may actually like it. Took me a bit to get used to it, but would hate to go back now. In the photo it look like stock pipes and I am surprised you find it loud. Maybe you are hearing some of the engine noise as it is not all covered in plastic. BRad

Why won't this thing run?!
BradT replied to john83's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Agree with Carl. If you only pulled the floats out then it needs to come apart again and further. could soak them in seafoam but might as well just take them off. Brad -
Would never have guessed that one as I have never been there. No problem and sorry we missed you the last time through, next time. Brad

Congrats to you two, enjoy BRad
