Curious did you ever check the ingrediants in the BBQ cleaner can. ? The reason I ask is some of these compunds can actually break down the quality of the rubber. SO for all please read label before purchasing as it may not be good for Rubber or Aluminum (as Juggler Mentioned). Brad

What kind of Trailer ? TO carry the bike, or to Tow behind the bike or other. ? Lots of people start with the Harbour Freight Trailers, then put a plastic roof top carrier on them. Brad

Chris mine just stopped working. Stopped for gas and when I turned it the key there was nothing but the radio. Not sure the part number but the one I saw on Ebay that said it was for a Venture would not fit our bikes. I believe it was for a Tour Deluxe, which are not the same. Brad- 5 replies

Now that would be an idea. Make a weekend meet and eat. Not sure which would be better after the ferry and run to the Sault or through Sudbury. Brad
-
Brad what were your thoughts on the Tobermory ride we went on, that is where he would catch the ferry across then up to 17. ? You can bypass Toronto that way. PS Toronto is not that bad in a car or bike, just watch where everyone else is. ALso be prepared to ride fast. Brad

My family is in the Sault, and when we go I stay away from the Canadian side and run across Southern Ontario and up the 75 through Michegan. Boring but better highways for me. AS it was said the Ferry is nice and the Ride up past hwy 400 is in my opinion very nice. Once you hit Sudbury you can Visist E-Fishin-C if he is not somewhere else on his scoot, but you travel 17 West and it is a nice ride as well. Enjoy. Brad

Chris take a look at this thread http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=2628 post #9 and you can see I had to cut a slot in the bolt heads to get the bolts out. I ended up cutting the weld nuts off the bottom as they were still very tight. I used a Dremmel tool and a cut off blade. Brad- 5 replies

Seems to me you were just saying there was no line on the Ebay auctions. So shouldn't your comment be "Show me the money" (quote from Swifty). Brad

Sorry to hear, hope your not seriously hurt. Take care and I hope your insurance comes through. Keep us posted on your condition. Brad

Sorry I forgot to mention it was in a cage. I was trying to point out I thought it was my own doing with some chemical cleaners. That was scary enough pulled me into the other lane. I saw Swifty's rear tire (86 Venture) go flat at about 70 mph that was scary as well, more for him though, I am sure. Brad

Jack. just a question. Your rims look nice and clean would you be spraying them with some sort of rim cleaner. The reason I ask is because on my van I was spraying my aluminum rims and the raised white letters with an aluminum cleaner, and I think they wrecked the rubber in my tires. I had one front blow out at 80 mph, the other front went flat in the driveway after a 400 mile ride (two weeks later), and when I had the other two removed they were not far off of splitting the side walls. BF Goodrich replaced them under a pro rated warranty, but I started thinking about it after and wonder if it was the cleaner I was using. I stopped using it and have not had the problem again. Brad

Brother in law had Three 500's one worked. IT was a fun bike, actually took it for my road test, the lady doc'd me marks because I never switched gears soon enough because of the noise I switched gears at 3,000 rpm. . Blew the engien and had a h*** of a time getting one of them of the other engines to work. It was a serious timing problem, that was not adjustable. Anyway have fun restoring them and be careful when he gets them going. Brad

I know little to nothing about GPS's. So I was wondering what you thought is a good GPS for bikes. Preferebly one that is priced reasonable. Would like to know what features one should look for, and what options would be beneficial to have. Thanks Brad
-
Just curious what you would recomend for a good GPS for the bike ? I know the Prices vary quite drastically but I was curious a good one that is is relatively inexpensive. I knoe little to nothing about these so please mention what options or features you feel would be important. Thanks Brad

Gary Maybe it was just colder when we were kids Maybe your correct as the battery was always in a vehicle and of course it was probably not fully charged or drawing a little. I was raised in the Sault so I know the temps your talking about. Jeepers sounds like my dad walking up hill both ways to school:rotf: I think I will still remove them and charge them up once a month. Brad

When I was living up North I have seen batteries freeze, they swell up and crack. Maybe not in this area. Brad

How far South do you have to move ? Wait then I would have to pay for Health care ! Brad

I put the seafoam in the tank, and run it for a bit. Park it and take battery out. (charge it a few times over winter and do NOT put it on concrete. Another good thing to do is give it a good bath before it goes away. Brad
