  1. In my opinion lugging it is worse than reving it. Also I have never really babied anything I owned expecially cars. Personally I think they run better if they are not babied. Worst thing for a piece of equipment is too let it sit, so enjoy it and ride. I have read some articles on piston rings (high performance), they say they should run hard right away so that they heat treat and harden in position they appy more pressure to the walls and seal better. (I am not an expert so I do not know if this is true.). Brad
  2. I thought Marca said you would argue with anyone ! Brad
  3. Some of these vintages had a problem with an air lock in the tank. ike stalls and won't start. When you open the gas cap you hear air rushing in. Just another idea. Seafoam and a little care it will be good as new. Don't get to frustrated. Brad
  4. Yeah Right I love working on First gens. Squid that exhaust system on the rear cylinders is a real pain as well as the salve cylinder have to rank right up there. Congrats on not getting the gasket bent under the cover, and not knowing untill after it is tightened down Brad

  13. I believe some have said it was possible but I kinda doubt it. I have had the engine out of my 86 (twice) and I honestly do not believe it can make it, over the studs (see first picture) The cylinder head nuts are hidden under the Connecting rod caps (below the Cam). It will not be an easy job to re install the Cam chain tensioner if it is still in the bike. This needs to be removed and then reinstalled after the cams get back in. If your going that far it is not that bad or much more to remove the engine. Brad
