Steve when mine went south all I had was the radio, nothing else, no dash lights or anything else. In the post http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=512, when I repaired it I did not cut the wires, i just bared them enough to wrap the wire around the bared wire. I heard from someone else they cut the wires and when they did this the radio did NOT work after, but was able to ride home. Also in this repair you still need the key to start the bike, but it would turn over without the key turned on. I assume the key turned on the coils allowing the spark plugs to do there job. The ignition can be pulled apart and you can re use the top half so that you do not have to two keys. Brad

Dumb idea if your trying to get top dollar is too pull some of the expensive options and resell them. Doubt most of the options will increase it that much over the others that are out there for sale. Seems if you have a lot of options it helps to sell the bike but hard to get your money back out of them when selling on the bike. Best of luck selling it and with the wing. BRad

Mistake buying a Venture?
BradT replied to Trainwreck68's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Sir back relax and ride it. They like to be ridden so do not let it sit Not bashing your other ride but you had a good bike and I think you were a little lucky. I think your new ride what ever it may have been would have some small annoying problems, but with the 5 year warranty and a good dealer you should enjoy this one. It's comfortable and rides like a dream generally with little problems. There are a few but these should not be a problem for your dealer and the warranty. Enjoy the ride. I have had both an 86 and now a 99 and enjoyed both. BRad -
I had a bike that sat fours years with gas in it without conditioner. I ended taking it to a radiater company who washed inside of it with a acid bath and then they lined it with a thin film of rubber. Not sure how they did it but they appearantly do it often. Got rid of all the crap, that is for sure and never had a problem again (after I cleaned the carbs piece by piece. ANother person told me to let it dry out good, then through some nuts and washers in it then shake it up. Not sure this would work well though. Brad

I think here There has to be a bunch on here. My wife being one of them. We have had the bike for a three years now and Naugh-T has put on more than 22,000 km, with very little problems I have a electronic manual if needed, I may even still have the link, which can be downloaded, or I could copy it and send it to you. Don't take the tensioner off unless you absolutley need too (leak), they are a pain to get back on. Hard enough when the motor was on the ground let alone in the bike. If it comes off you have to back it off by loosening it but as you press it into place you can not stop untill it is seated and bolted. AS it will tighten as you try to seat it. Have heard these were problems when they first came out but I think there pretty good, on the first gens. Also if you hear adjusting I think you will have a problem. BRad

Hey Phil saw this twice so was not sure you did it twice. Glad to hear you sound like you made it okay. People who stop when you don't expect it gotta tick you off If we would only get some decent weather, we would not ride in this crap. Serious hope your feeling better soon BRad

Maybe the handlebars need adjustment. I can only think that when you turn left your reaching with your right and is it possible, that the your reaching may accelerate the bike so your concerned ? Just a thought ! There seems to be something that is bugging you as left and right are basically the same turns. Brad

Ignition switch or other??????
BradT replied to Red1's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Norm I cut slots in the top of those rounded heads and used a screwdriver. I could not break it but an impact screwdriver would help. I ended up cutting the nut that is welded to the frame off. Brad -

Got 12,500 miles on my last rear tire 404's. Still had a little over 1/16" of tread but changed it out to be safe. No cupping or howling wore quite nicely. BRad

Cindy why do you have such a guilty conscious. Obviously I was thinking it is a real pain to be stuck for hours on a highway not knowing when you would make it home (been there many times with bad snow storms) Brad

Bill same results on the first gen as second gens. I know of three first gens that had a problem. Brad
