I agree and we will have to raze "Rusty Pinapple", just so that she can get Billy working again. Nice job Kyle. BRad

Normally at 50-60k you will not need to do anything or they will be on the edge of replacement, but when the miles get up there you most likely will have to change the shims Brad

Not a question you may want to ask. If you search around you will see where some of the First genners try and stir up the pot. BRad

Put bike on the jack and remove the bags, should be able to get to all the bolts and remove the shock after that. Raise and lower the jack as needed to remove the bolts and pins. BRad

Had a 81 Seca 750, had lots of time so we went looking for a touring bike so that we could take off for the weekends. We drove all over the place lookin at mostly wings then saw the 86 Standard and really liked it so we ended up buying it. Had some troubles with it and found Venturers met some really nice people and were getting away quite a bit. Came over to VR and have met a bunch of new friends, upgraded to the 99 a couple of years ago and have not looked back. Brad

Check the oil as well, if it is a stuck float the crankcase can fill with fuel as well. Ywill be able to smell fuel in the oil not too mention you may be able to see the oil level increased. This is not good, for many reasons. Brad

Dropped a spark plug and I saw it on the fan housing. I also turned the blade then it disappeared. Had to loosen the fan and swing it away to get it. Sure ticked me off, but then I had to laugh later, when I went for a ride. BRad

BradT replied to BnkrBill's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Nice guy to the new members, tell him you moved the thread to a different section, now when he goes looking for the post in the watering hole, how is gonna see your post about moving it ? BRad -
Then the washers fall off and try and fish those things out from where they get lost and stuck. Best option just see below. Brad PS for some reason 6mm thread comes to mind. But do not quote me on that, but it is metric, just measure one of the ones you have.

finally someone figured out whats wrong with our van
BradT replied to Cinderella's topic in Watering Hole
Cindy it is the same amount of work to get to the rockers arms as it was to replace the intake gasket. Same parts as well. Glad your getting your van back. Dan they probably did remove the rods by loosening the rockers to change the gasket but there is a tool or at least you can make one that compreses the spring enough to pull the rods. Sure speeds up the job. Brad -
Swifty offered up to take my place, in November. Brad

Jeff I doubt you will need to change anything, unless you have 100,000 miles on your bike. These do not need changing I have checked a few at 50,000 miles and they are righ on the manual. Download the manual and you will have all the info so it is a good idea to check them. Yes buckets and there is a little tool required or you can pull the cams up a little 9this is more work). Good luck BRad

Have to admit that was funny ! And I am sure during the next meet (wherever it is) there will be a few more laughs, right Squid ! Brad
