  1. Thanks guys. Just got off the phone with Alexis from Butt Buffer Canada. She says, right now, she is looking at a 2 day turn around for seats she receives, either through ride-in or shipped in, for rebuilding. She seems quite knowledgeable and come highly recommended. I think that will be my choice. Rates seem reasonable (less) compared to other seat businesses I have seen on the forum as well http://www.buttbuffercanada.com/ 1.800.891.6946 She does heated seats too.
  2. My 03 Venture's seat is not quite as comfy as I would like. Over time, I guess the seat cover around the stitching has stretched some under my sleek, cougar-like butt. End result is my seat foam is soaked....like ring it out and leave a puddle on the floor soaked. Looking around for solutions. I hear Butt Buffer US & Canada are great options. I just got off the phone with Ultimate Seat and they tell me they do not make a seat for Ventures. So, looking for someone in Canada, preferably Ontario, for ease / timeliness as well as avoiding paying Uncle Sam duty at the border. Looking forward to hearing from you guys on this. Thanks Trevor
  3. Hello all, I has a slight coolant leak under the cylinder "fins" that developed over the winter while in storage on my '03 RSV. From talking to people and reading posts by the fine folks here, I ordered in new plugs and changed all 4. Taking out the old ones, I lost some coolant as expected. The new plugs fit fine and I have no leaks now. The question I have is the new plugs have a female thread in the center of them for a bolt or screw. The old ones were just rubber with no threads. Is there supposed to be a bolt or screw that goes in the threaded portion of these new plugs? Thanks.
  4. Hi group, Dunno about everyone else but been chasing missing bolts, and having problems with the hex / allen key heads stripping on my 03 Venture. While stored in my garage for our great Canadian winter, I noticed both sides saddle bag rail's front bolts missing. Anyone know the part number or a suitable replacement? Also noticed 2 small leaks of coolant under the cooling fins that cover the cylinders on the left side. Took it to a shop who removed them and told me it was the coolant plugs - a quick fix. I got the bike put away just before the snow flew and finally picked up the replacement plugs, figuring I would replace all 4. Well, I did 3. Why? Because the shop who discovered the leaky plugs must have stripped the head on 1 of the 3 bolts. Frustrated that every time I go to do something on the bike, there is always 1 allen/hex headed bolt that is either seized or stripped. I removed the backrest due to getting sore knees from the forward leaning position I was in, despite adjusting it all I could....and had 1 seized bolt, that I stripped the head from trying to remove. Tried removing the saddlebags to switch back to stock exhaust from Barons Custom Bag Slash....stripped 1 bolt each bag. Got the quick release ones (Butlers?). Frustrating.
  5. Just wondering if anyone has put a big bore kit in their venture. I have a 2003. Is there a kit for the Ventures? If you have put one in, what has the pre and post install experience been in comparison? Thoughts on should it or shouldn't it be done. Thanks.
  6. Always - the extra visibility and decreasing the perception that it may just be a car with a burnt out headlight is worth having to change bulbs sooner (which I have not done yet) or whatever draw it puts on the bike.
  7. Got the message after thae new ones came in....greatly appreciated though.
  8. Sorry, never got message until after we were back. Thanks anyways and I will keep you in mind for another trip.
  9. Hey there, Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to check my emails and messages until...well, now, between work and the trip. Due to my bike not being ready for when I was hoping - due to being f*&^%'ed around by parts suppliers, we had to alter the trip. My new shop says the diaphragms were creased and folded up. They managed to straighten them out enough to help the problems. It was still a good ride, leaving the Orillia Ontario area, stopping in at Port Huron for the night, then up to Sault Ste. Marie Ontario for the night and home again. About 1600km for the 3 days. I did manage to find the part in the US. They were all backordered from Yamaha Canada until June 6. I got them from Cheap Cycle Parts. If anyone needs these carburetor diphragms, fyi, they are not easy-to-come-by. Like I said, backordered for about 3-4 weeks in Canada and only 5 available in the US according to the guy at CCP. Thanks to all for the replies and help. Sorry I didn't get back to you all more proptly. Trevor Storey Coldwater, ON:fireman:
  10. Hello all. Hoping someone can help me. Up here in Coldwater Ontario Canada (yes, I do know Dick Shrivels from Coldwater- haha), I have been experiencing progressively worsening fuel mileage, backfiring on deceleration, etc. So, when I had some service done before, by the supposed 5 Star dealer in Midland Ontario (not to name names but if you recall the nursery rhyme about the name of a boy and a girl who "went up the hill to fetch a pail of water), they apparently put the caps on too tight & not straight or something, wrinkling 2 of the carb diphragms and the needle almost sitting sideways (so I am told). Apparently the diaphragms are backordered from yamaha canada until June 6. I have called around to several dealers and they do not have any in stock. I stopped going to that dealer and went to another shop that their service manager went to. He was getting his parts from a Yamaha dealer in Barrie who supposedly told them the parts would be in yesterday, then today, until...hmmm, not until June 6. Any of our US brother or sister venture riders able to get your hands on 2 diaphragms? Part number 5DM-14940-00-00 Are there any compatible aftermarket versions? The diphragms are supposedly not torn, but they are wrinkled. They are putting the bike backtogether so I can use it and day that the performance & fuel economy will be much better but I will need them replaced. This is supposed to be my anniversary weekend motorcycle ride with my wife leaving yesterday with plans to ride around Lake Michigan - but we are now 27 hours behind schedule and the bike will be ready 2 hours from now. She has taken two days vacation and pissed off...good times! Thanks for your help in advance. My email is trevor.storey@rogers.com and goes to my blackberry if anyone has any information or leads that can help me out. Thanks

  13. Hello folks, Very interested in switching to a C/T. I am getting the impression between the darkside forum and your posts that Kuhmo is the choice most preferred. I am having problems finding anyone with a car tire in the sizes I found on one conversion sheet on the dark side net. Which model of tire is everyone going with and can I confirm the size with you please? Any references on who to use up here in the great white north? Any problems with speedometer accuracy? Thanks Trevor
  14. Thanks LilBeaver. Good to know. The heat up here north of Toronto Ontario Canada is no Texas but it has been hot. Response is greatly appreciated.
  15. Hi everyone, A thought that has come to mind after a colleague of mine had some issues with his Honda VTX on a trip..... I have never heard my fan come on, running or after shut down, regardless of how hot it has been outside, how long of a trip I have been on, etc.. I have never had any mechanical issues but wondering from others how often their's run, etc. Thanks Trevor
