Hey Friends, I'm back. Some of you know I've been on the road working since August 09. I havent been riding at all. I have came home for a day or two a few times but the Venture has been sitting in the garage mostly. My wife and I took a 100 mile ride yesterday and got home at 12:00 noon. We were sweaty and beat down. Its a pain to miss out on all the good riding in the fall and spring. Now I have to suffer the heat to ride. It was worth it though. I look forward to meeting more of the good people on this site and more riding. The last time we rode was at Vogel meeting. Happy trails.

Defensive, Defensive, Defensive. Thats why I hate riding through cities. I stay on the country roads. I've still had my share of people just plain dont see me. Thats why I dont speed either. Hopefully I can keep those animals from jumping out too.

I used to have the same problems. It feels like a beast. Tire pressure has a little to do with it. The lower the press, the more sluggesh. I went to the Vogel ride last year and these guys here on this site makes it look like childs play. The dragons tail was a blast. Keep listening to these experts on this form and you'll be fine. I just rode today for the first time in 9 months ( Been out of state working). It felt great to be back on the Venture. I Love it !!

I am happy with my 5th gear on the Venture. Sometimes I use it at low speeds, 45-50, when thats the speed limit. I like it because the bike is quieter (bub's) at that speed, but like all said, no power for acceleration. I normally drive like a Grandapa anyway and usually get 45-48 mpg. If I want to go fast, I climb aboard my V65 Magna and get my eye lids pulled back. The V65 Magna does have a 6th OD gear. How bout that for a Japanese bike, but only back in 1983.

Problem is, We're all Human and all make mistakes. Some mistakes are more costly than others. I'm sure the cop feels terrible. Lack of judgement, inattention, time pressures, lack of sleep, whatever the excuse, there's always a reason that caused an accident. I feel sorry for the rider and the cop. What really ticks me off is drunk drivers, speeders that are known to be killers no matter how you try to explain it. Those people really need to be locked up.

The Pic was taken last Saturday 22nd around 5:00pm on the way to the Winery. We just got through taking a tour of the House. The ride was incredible.

Well Friends, After telling my wife what a great time I had at Vogel, she wanted to go to Asheville, NC. I guess I dont have to tell you how great it was riding around the Estate. I've put over 3K miles on the Midnight in the last 2 months. We're hooked !!! I really cant wait till my wife gets to meet all the nice people on this site.

Hope you take care of your broken rib. BTW, what did you hit your ribs on. I'm trying to visualise you still stting on the bike with it leaning over. Was it the handle bars that hit your ribs or the ground? Either case its a sad story. Glad you posted this. I learned something.

Offensive? Yeah, the truth hurts.

Yeah, it was nice riding behind you South to Greenville (that rest stop). Good luck in Texas.

Glad to hear yall made it back. I found our pics on Killboy on the last page. Pretty good pics, but my mirror was covering my face. Oh well... It was great staying in the cabin with you guys. We saw a real bad wreck on I-26 on the way home. Must have had fatalities. When we drove by, thank godness it was in the oposing lanes, the people were just getting out of thier cages, the smoke hadnt even cleared yet. I still dont like interstates. Give me a country road and a good view. Yes, your car tire worked good on the dragon. I was thinking of installing a Gumbo Mudder. The guys up in the North could even ride in the snow.
