After a PGR mission yesterday at Jamestown, TN I followed a Honda 1800 VTX with a CT for about 20-25 miles along some curvy roads. He seemed to be tracking and doing very well, but the tire just appeared (to me) to be "mushy" during corners. It was like the tire was not at normal pressure. On the straights it did not appear to be low at all. I need to own up to being a darksider myself, but then I ride a trike

I have used Quicken, Turbo Tax and their website software for years and years. Intuit has always been very helpful when I've had problems. Have you given them a call to see if they can provide some direction?

I D/L'd the preview version, installed it (USB drive) onto a netbook with 1gb of ram. It worked great. Quick and no probs for me except the learning curve of trying to use an OS intended for a touchscreen on a PC with a mouse input. When it was fully released I D/L'd it and installed it on my desktop. Once you learn how to use it with a mouse as your input method it is not that bad. Faster boot times, and I like the apps that you can get free or low cost (most of them anyway). I still like my iPad2, and I will plan on getting a touchscreen monitor. I have no plans to install it on my wife's desktop. She's confused enough already But the bottom line as I see it, if your current OS is providing all the features you need or want, I really see no compelling reason to move to Windows 8.

Since I retired a few years ago I have found that I do not need to fill the entire day every day. I just found things to do that give me a bit of structure and that don't require a "full time" commitment. I became active in my Fleet Reserve Association branch, I belong to and fill time with my STAR chapter, I joined the PGR. I have a number of things that I do around the house that still allow me and the wife to do short notice/spur of the moment trips and rides. I spend a lot of time on the computer (STAR chapter webmaster) keeping up with old friends from my Navy career, and just playing games etc. I've enjoyed retirement and have not let it turn me into a couch potato. Well,....maybe a little bit of a CP

Of course they are having a sale!....I just bought mine and installed it about a month ago. Anytime anyone needs to know when a sale is going to begin, just wait until I buy something. The sale will start just a day or so later!!

I just put a new Clearview on my Venture about three weeks ago. Nice shield and enough packing in the carton to protect a White Freightliner!

Cougar: That's what they look like on my trike. The calipers appear to be singles, is that correct? Is there a larger caliper/pads that will fit without altering anything? JFI, when the brakes are cool or working properly or whatever the blinky blanky I can lock up the rear end. But apparently when they get a little hot, they just quit!

I had my 2009 Venture triked May 2012. I have had a couple of instances where the rear brakes became completely useless. Riding down to Helen, GA and down the Cherohala skyway. On the Helen trip I thought maybe I was using the rear brakes too much and not the gearbox. The front brake remained effective. So I was VERY carefull about braking protocols on the Cherohala. I find that the rear brakes as installed on the Hannigan kit on my bike work very well but only for a short time. If you use them with any frequency, they fade away. I'm not talking about hard and long brake use, I talking about normal touch and slow useage. And no, I do not ride the brakes. Last week I was riding and stopped at an auto dealer (car pre-shopping) and the salesman was admiring the trike. He was looking at the rear wheels and commented that the brake calipers were very small. He even asked if they worked well. I've noticed that Hannigan had a brake "fix" some time back, but I assumed my kit was after that fix. Any info on this that I should be checking into?

Does anyone know if this works on a Hannigan trike? -

What I did..... Two weeks after I bought the bike new I let it go just past the point of "Oh Sh*%, hang on sweetheart!!" Some minor scratches on the right side of the fairing. Bought new fairing front (mega bucks!!) Stereo problems later required removing the fairing front by the dealer. I found out I should NOT have used Loctite to put the new fairing front on the bike. (very salty naval language in copious amounts!) Put the old scratched fairing front back on. I had the bike triked a couple of years later and now I have.... 1. "How did you get those scratches on a trike, question. I've met several new friends over the explanation 2. I now consider those scratches to be my "P.A.R." (Pay Attention Reminder) I have no intention of fixing the scratches or replacing the fairing front. The way I see it is that I allowed the problem, I should enjoy the consequences

A local dealer did the oil change and I found that K&N oil filters also have that nut on the end, so I bought one for my next oil change. I wanted to make sure I had a good clean oil change because I have a couple of rides including a fairly long one to Kennesaw, GA next Friday. Thanks for all the input from everyone, I will be looking for some of the products suggested for future use.

This morning I D/L'd and installed Windows 8 Preview on an Acer Aspire One. I had been running Win7 on that. We never use that netbook anymore, so I thought why not give it a try. It's running very well but I'm not all that impressed with Win8! Without a touchscreen it requires a lot of extra mouse clicks and "where is..." & "how do I...". I actually had to Google "how do I shut down Windows 8" this morning before I found where to go to do that. I'm pretty sure Win7 will remain on both desktops and my iPad will remain the choice for bike rides.

This is not an accusation: Lots of computer, I'd venture (pun intended) to say that most computers over time get clogged up with lots of junk other than dirt/dust. If the computer is over a couple of years old, you may want to consider doing a clean install of the operating system. That clears out all the old resource hogs and brings it back to an as new status. You might also want to look into your msconfig and see if you have a lot of things running that are unnecessary and can be shut down. And lastly if the machine is over 4-5 years old (not what you wanna hear!) it might be time to ditch it and buy a new one. JMO The reply about the SSD is an excellent fix should you elect to stay with the machine and get it up and going again.

Wow, I never knew there were so many different oil filter wrenches. I also like that filter from Dennis Kirk with the nut built on the end. Does that filter get a majority of "likes" from the forum members? It sure seems to simplify the process for sure!

OK, I've an appointment for a dealer oil change in the morning. In the meantime I'm going to go looking for different filter wrenches. One of my STAR buddies suggested riding the front tire up on a 4 x 4 that has one end cut at a sloping angle (geez! I coulda had a V-8!). Never thought of that. Also JFI I did not put the oil filter on the bike so that little problem was a dealer "extra"! The reason I'm doing this is that my maintenance agreement expired so now my poor Venture is at the mercy of the grand dufus of bike maintenance. Great having this site/forum for help. Sometimes things are just so simple they just never even cross your mind!

I just made my second attempt at an oil change on my trike. Attempt #1: Bought an oil filter, oil and and oil filter wrench. The filter wrench when attached to the socket wrench will not fit onto the filter. There simply is not enough room between the oil filter and the radiator housing. Since I had already drained the oil, I went to get another filter wrench that would work with an open or boxed end wrench. The only filter wrenches were made of plastic. PLASTIC!! The OReilly guy assured me it was designed to withstand the pressure of the wrench on the nut. It failed miserably! Since I could not get the oil filter off. I elected to simply replace the oil and try again later. Attempt # 2: I bought more oil and three of my friends assured me that the oil filter can be easily removed with a pair of large channel locks. It probably can, but there is no room between the carport floor and the filter to allow the placement of the channel locks!. Can someone with a trike explain to me how on earth do I get that #%$#&^ oil filter off! Am I supposed to forever take it to a dealer for a $78 oil change?

Depending on weather, I hope to see y'all and Jerry down there. Address is in my GPS, added a whole bunch of mp3's to the GPS for the long ride We can all maybe ride back part of the way together for the return. -

Mike G I've talked to Jerry M about going. Catch is...it's a long ride for him (and you folks) so he is probably gonna overnight it. I'm talking about going but I'd need to leave about 0430! So I'll be watching the weather for the few days before. The event starts a bit early but I think I can "one day" it -
I'm sure I should have known this but..... I was installing my new ClearView screen which requires removing (at least partially) the front fairing piece. I've had that off once before but this time I notice that there is a knob on the left side way down near the bottom of the fairing for adjusting the headlight. Don't know why I never saw it before.

I believe what he may mean when he said "What difference does it make" is that if the antenna, cable and CB are connected correctly then there should not be a difference in which side the antenna is installed on.

Signed on with the PGR about a month ago. Had my first mission about three days later. Came down with a massive sinus/allergy infection and had to cancel out of my first mission There is another one this friday to welcome the "Saluting Marine" to east Tennessee. I have a very minor surgery in about and hour and a half. I sure hope it doesn't interfere with my second mission
