  1. Could you post the details of the air crossover? Identify the part(s) etc?
  2. My Ram Mount for my GPS screws onto the brake or clutch reservoir. I second the plastic Zip Lock bag for weather proofing. I use the Zip Lock and a rubber band to snug it up. works great and I can still use the touch screen.
  3. The day that Hannah and I flew out of Learmouth near Exmouth when I retired, I heard someone say that it was 123 degrees. Two weeks later when we landed in Knoxville, it was in the upper 40's. Geez we nearly froze walking out to the car!
  4. For djh3, that was supposed to be 900 LT ......oops
  5. I believe it's a Vulcan 900 T. They live and work just far enough away to not get together very often. I sent them a couple of those links. Thanks.
  6. Is there a Kawasaki forum(s) that are as good as Venture rider? I have a cousin who could benefit from having resources for his ride as we enjoy here.
  7. friesman: Thank you for that link, I just added it to my favorites list
  8. Hey speaking of Canadians....how come "Corner Gas" ain't on TV anymore down here?
  9. On the file size: Geez! I shoulda known that. I've been 'putering since 1970 on a Univac 1004! I use a Ram Mount mounting arrangement to mount the GoPro and another for the GPS. I have the shortest post they have to avoid vibration. Still I get a bit of vibration, but oddly it doesn't distract as much when viewing as it looks like it might when we're riding. Our STAR chapter president's daughter uses the helmet mount (looks really clunky and fragile to me), but they did 23 states in 16 days to attend STAR days near Reno this year and the videos they posted were superb! No vibration on the helmet mount but if you turn your head (I do tend to "lollygag" when riding) that is a bit disconcerting for a second or two when you are watching the video.
  10. I enjoy my GoPro. I don't use it a lot, just on select rides. I don't know why but for some reason it sections the video into more than one file. ie...when I view the video on my computer, it will be in four files. View the first, then click on the next to continue viewing the ride, then click on the next and then the next. I don't know why it does not make just one long file video. I'm guessing it has something to do with storing file sizes. I use a 16ghz card.
  11. How do you upgrade a Martin D18? That is already near perfection!! (Fender man myself, but dang...ya shore gotta like all them others )
  12. I think that each of us knows someone who is just like one of the persons on the show. I know in my 68 years I have met and known various people who could be ringers for (pick one) the characters on the show. What I don't know is which character on the show do I remind people of?
  13. You guys are so wrong! The world did end yesterday and we are now all in.........
  14. Oh one more thing, concerning those trunk/saddle bag liners...they would be nice but we simply use those reusable bags that all the stores have. They are usually about $1 each, they are flexible so you can push/poke/prod them into position. They are easily carried and did I mention that they are cheap like me!
  15. for bongobobny: Hey Alwrmcusn, are you married to my wife's twin??? Well, her sister does live up in Parish, NY....so ??
  16. There ain't no single answer to this question! Everyone is different, and I actually mean wildly different! True story: A couple of years ago my wife and I took a long weekend to go visit relatives in Blythewood, SC (we live in Rockwood, TN). It's about a 320 mile ride, and we would be gone for 3 nights...leave on Saturday morning returning onTuesday. The wife took 9 (nine) tops, 7 (seven) pants/skirts and 5 (five) pair of shoes. That does NOT count the outfit that she wore to ride over there! This year we rode the Natchez Trace Parkway. She had pared her packing list down to a much more reasonable amount. She is getting much more adept at motorcycle travel and packing. She just has this idea that she needs.... What she is actually wearing. What she will change into when she gets there What she will change into if we go out shopping/sightseeing What she will change into when we go out to eat What she will change into when we get back from the restaurant Apparently there are people out there who are keeping track of how long she wears something and reports that to the clothing police . .....The next day everything must be clean and not previously worn since laundry day. Apparently she is made of dirt, dust and mud and therefore any article of clothing that touches her body, regardless of how long, becomes "filthy" and must not be put back on to her person . Some (mostly women ) will say I'm an old meanie . I love my wife and have since we met in 1962 but she just cannot seem to be able to go more than 6 hours without changing clothes
  17. I installed Win8, a couple of days after it was released. It's different and does have a learning curve but not too bad. Using it with mouse/keyboard is where most of the learning takes place. Once you get a few of the "never did it that way" features figured out, it's actually a very good OS. It boots much faster but pretty much handles everything that Win7 did. I've found no conflicts with any of my software.
  18. Hannah and I use Consumer Cellular: 750 mins, two phones, two lines, great coverage. $47-$48 per month.
  19. I believe the Gas Monkey bike (Shovelhead) was purchased from a local shop in Knoxville, TN (www.bikerrags.com). Jeff and Pam (owners of Biker Rags) had bought the bike from Wheels Thru Time in Maggie Valley, NC. The show contacted Jeff and Pam, made arrangements to pick up the bike and there were some behind the scenes arrangements made that seemed to want to bypass Jeff and Pam and Biker Rags by possibly saying the bike was purchased elsewhere. I missed the show so I'm not sure how the bike was presented on TV. Jeff and Pam are very nice folks, and I am glad that their bike at least finished near the top.
  20. This is NOT meant to be antagonistic...I have never shifted any bike up/down according to the "recommended" shift points. I rely on my ears and feel to do the shifting. The same with the choke. If its cold enough to require use of the choke I do it fully, then when we start rolling along in about 1/4 - 1/2 mile I just shove it back. As for the shift points I understand their "recommendations" and they are generally correct. However my Venture is not all that happy with a shift from 4th to 5th until it is rolling along about 60-65 mph. It will accept a lower speed but it tends to "criticize" me for my choice if I do it at say 45-50.
  21. JFI: When you record your own MP3's you may find that there is a wide range of "volume" between some of the songs (taken from different CD's/sources). I use a freebie software called "MP3Gain" to equalize the volume and set an output level across the entire MP3 section on my SD card (GPS use) or my MP3 player.
  22. Not a first gen owner and I don't find that specific manual on the site but if you look in the first gen tech section there are a lot of PDF's with what I'll assume is much the same info. There is one link that appears to be a manual but it returns a page not found error message when I click on it.
  23. Thanks for the inputs. I did search for CT's in the Venture sizes and did not find any. I have read about using the rear tire mounted in reverse and I'm guessing that is what I'll be doing. I'm probably going to have it done before the chapter ride to STAR days next year.
  24. I think this has been asked before but I don't find it. Is there a car tire that can be used on the front wheel of the 2nd gen Venture? If so would that be a good choice? It seems to me that it would be okay for a trike to use a CT on the front.
  25. .....Another option that wasn't listed is the special tail lights, instead of using the existing Yamaha tail light and matching it. They have a system that blinks 3 times before a constant light when applying a brake. The Hannigan kit on my '09 has those blinking tail lights and he did use the OEM tail light. There is a circuit board inside for the "blinky" part I believe. I don't recall it being an option however. I had the aux gas tank installed (definite a must have for long rides) but no floor boards. Both Hannah and I are loving our choice to trike our Venture! Just an aside,.....While backing it out of the carport when it was just newly triked one afternoon I had the clutch side handle bar in my left hand and my right hand on the passenger grab rail. I walked it back out then turned the handle bars and started moving it forward and rolled the left rear tire right over the toes on my right foot! I was wearing house shoes. OUCH!!!!
