Worked on my cousins computer this past few days. The password she wrote (scribbled illegibly) I could not figure out. I have a program that will find the password(s) within a Windows machine. So I used it and in about 1-2 mins I had the password(s) and got everything taken care of for her.

Splitting the fairling
alwrmcusn replied to alwrmcusn's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Added info: I know how to split the fairing, just need to know the size of the hex I will need. I'll just buy a metric set. Giving some thought to purchasing the Cruz M3 kit. More Info: I took a look at possibly trying to change the bulb from the back of the fairing. Ain't no way in God's little green earth I can get my hand in there. Also that mass of cables can not be moved aside to get to the bulb/mount.....I tried and so did my wife. And now for something completely different: Is there a set of replacement bolts that can be used in place of the set that are currently holding the fairing together? -
I need to replace my headlamp bulb. What size tool(s) do I need to split the fairing. I have a hex wrench that almost but not quite fits the bolts/nuts. It looks to be a hex head but might it be a star instead? I'm guessing the reason my hex wrench almost but not quite fits is that I need a metric set?? P.S. I can't believe that Yamaha/Star requires me to remove the fairing to get to the headlamp. Geez, who designed that thing??

All the best to him and his choice. As an aside, I wanted to be a Hospital Corpsman when I enlisted in 1962. Ended up as a Radioman. I was disappointed at the time but it turned out for the best and I did 23 super years.

True Story: about two years ago Hannah and I were suiting up for a ride. Boots, gloves, jacket, helmet etc. Hannah was seated on the bike, I reach for my sun glasses that I usually leave in the cup holder. Not there. I go around back and tell her to lean forward so I can open the trunk. They aren't there either. Hannah asks what I'm looking for and I tell her. She then reaches out and pokes me right in the sunglasses that I'm already wearing!

My two cents worth (and we all know what that's worth ) Vista was supposedly the worst OS in the world. I installed it, had absolutely no problems with it. Now Windows 8 / 8.1 is creating some major dislikes. I installed it, it's much faster and I really don't find a problem with any of it. I just don't find the problems that other folks seem to be having. I tried Linux on a spare machine once. Didn't like it much but it seemed to be working well. Just a personal thing I suppose. When Windows 9 (or whatever) is released, I'll try that one also. Once a geek/nerd, always a geek/nerd EDIT: I forgot this one, Windows ME...installed an ran it totally without incident.

Check with "Wild Bill" Pegram in STAR Chapter 419. He or someone there should be able to provide you with all the info on the area. Check at http://startouring.org/ and click on the Chapter List for Tennessee. Also the STAR KY/TN Ambassador (Jerry Mefford) may be able to provide some info. TNKYSA@startouring.org And while I'm not that familiar with Nashville, I am on the road (I-40 or Hwy 70) between Maryville and Nashville and if I'm available I'll help if I can. Hwy 70 is a great bike road at least down to Carthage, TN. I've not ridden it beyond there.

I got a map patch of Australia from the goldwing road riders website, and one of Europe also.

Hannah and I spent three "New Years" in Exmouth, WA. They do a good party there at the PotShot Inn.

I have two Ram mounts, one on top of the brake/clutch reservoirs. GPS and GoPro. I do not video every ride. Basically I use it for special events, i.e. riding up the BRP/Skyline to STAR days or a new ride that I've never done before. I find it rather difficult to program because it uses a tiny, tiny, tiny LCD screen and the button pushes to bring up the cryptic letters that tell you the various settings are not (to me at least) all that clear. I would like it better if it had a simple on/off switch. Helmet mount provides the least shaky method of videoing. However when you turn your head you turn the camera. The mounts included are very good but do follow the instructions and allow the adhesive to sit in the proper temperature and length of time. Still no guarantees that it will not blow off. There is software that you can find that will remove some of the "jitters" and I've tried it and it works reasonably well. However I reformatted and installed Win 8/8.1 and neglected to keep a copy so I'll have to search and find it again . Polaroid makes a nice unit, and Cycle Gear has a unit that looks very good and has an LCD that is bigger than my thumbnail. The GoPro does a lot, I just find it hard to setup.

"laid back?, In the mid '60's when I was on the USS Dodge County we hauled a lot of marines back and forth thru the Panama Canal for jungle training before heading to 'Nam. I don't think I ever saw any laid back Marines. You folks were mostly full tilt boogie!!

I put a center stand on my 2009 Venture and I love it. It's called a Hannigan kit.

I get emails daily advising me that I have won lotteries or been named as the sole beneficiary. If all of those emails were indeed correct I would have become the most wealthy person on earth several years ago. I could pay off the national debt of every country on earth and still have million$ of billion$ of gazillion$ left over. Tuesday of this week I received an email advising that my eBay account may have been hacked and that I need to reset and confirm my account settings ( I do not have an eBay account). I received notice that I had won the Microsoft lottery. Actually I was notified that I had won that twice this week....lucky me!! A "Sgt Williams" in Afghanistan found my name quite by accident while searching desperately to find a willing person to help him get the (I forgot how many) million$ in gold bars he had found while on patrol there. I guess his fellow soldiers were looking the other way when he found that hidden cache. Maybe they had found their own cache and didn't need any more. A lawyer/president/relative/priest/financial advisor has a representative currently waiting at the airport in Atlanta for my phone call to tell him how to get a package containing XXX millions in dollars that he is carrying to me. I'd be really nervous loitering around the airport with a carton full of 100 dollar bills. Just an aside but most of my relatives live in the south eastern United States. I don't have any relatives in Nigeria. I get emails weekly from various banks who have noticed suspicious activity on my account and that I need to log in, check and update my data. Sometimes that email purports to be from the only bank that I actually have an account with! Odd also that while some of those emails say my account and email have been hacked and the information lost, they somehow managed to get my email address out of the fouled up account. Odder still that when I click to see the senders address it never shows up as the institutions correct name. :no-no-no::no-no-no:

He is in Iceland according to his user info. Their laws may well be different for normal road use over there.
-
I may be wrong but here in the United States those "colored" headlight bulbs would be illegal and therefore would not be found for sale.

Used mine immediately when I retired in '87. Got an associates in business from Roane State.

I've avoided "helmet head" with that hair style for years!! I've saved a fortune on Brylcream I used to buy 2-packs of combs, no more! Shampoo? who needs it? After a shower my hair is dry before I can towel dry the rest of me.
