My insurance contacted me and said WRITE OFF.Bike value $3795can. My amount with deductible taken off (my pocket take home ) $3800 They get bike. If I keep bike $2700. They don't care about other things I put on(doesn't add to value)New tire $275/light bar $100/ Rotor covers$150/oil filter adapter $80. Will replace helmet even tho I don't have receipt if I cut off straps. Not sure if they will replace rain suit/gloves and boots if I don't have receipts. Wife wants me to leave bike and get the $3800 and get another. I think I should keep and get another close so I have spares and new parts. Any help?

I am having the same problem. Bike shop says book value for MINT 87 is $3500can. They think that the 2 adjusters that showed up are going to write it off(estimate of $6000can. to fix by shop)Now just have to get insurance to be in office and return my phone calls. Also to know what day it is(their voice mail is 1 day behind) Also had bike appraised at $6000can. when I took out insurance with collision but not sure if that was replacement value or depreciated over the years and policy is unclear. Will find out I guess. Hope we have good luck. I will probably have more problems as I hit another vehicle from behind so it is always the fault of the one behind. Good luck!

Thanks to ALL fellow Venturers for your prayers/thoughts and concerns for my health and suggestions on bike repairs---all-tho after looking bike over and taking pictures it doesn't look promising. Still waiting to get police report so I can give to insurance and also waiting to hear from insurance also.(don't seem to be in hurry to discuss bike). No I wasn't towing my trailer as someone asked me.

Sorry to hear about your crash. I had one later in the evening and know what you are going through. Altho mine had considerable more damage(I have an 87 Venture) it doesn't look good for repair.Too old by one shop but depends on cost from another. Hope have more luck with yours!

Had accident on way home tonight.Truck in my lane was making left but decided to change mind and since I was slowing down at time lost traction with front tire and clipped bumper and taillight with front left side of bike and my hand(going about15 to 20klm)Thought hand was broke but didn't show in x-rays so have to keep iced along with leg that is scraped and bruised. After hitting went to right and in slow-motion I watched as bike broke up and I landed on top of fairing about 5feet away.Left side pretty banged up and not sure what other side is like untill I go to see it at impound tomorrow. Then call insurance(oh joy)Will keep posted.

Clipped taillight and bumper of truck turning from my lane but decided to stop and wait instead. As I was already slowing it wasn't as bad as it could have been.Roads were wet and lost traction at last second. If he had kept moving I would have missed him.Thought hand was broken but it was only badly swollen and bruised as was left leg.Last I seen bike it was in rough shape(windshield / headlight / fairing / broken) but will look at it tomorrow. Will get back with more details

Since Carl rode the trike at Meet & Eat and didn't think he would --------would he now?

I will try and post again but no luck so far.I saw other people post pics that you view them in Photo Bucket. So I signed up and posted Carl's Meet & Great111 on here. Try sleepy2_2008 to view. If this worked I can try and post pictures from before.

Just talked to the owner of an 1986 Venture(plain NOT Royale) in Princeton Ontario for anyone looking in this area. Is kind of pricey . Asking price is negotiable $5500can. ONLY 25000klms(original according to owner) Been sitting for roughly 5 years so carbs need to be cleaned, needs tires and general TLC. Has new battery. Would like to buy myself to keep as low klm bike but no money. Looks to be in good shape for someone that wants low klm bike.

Hey Wizard765 how are things? Tires seem to be all-right so far, seem to track Ok in all weather conditions even rain storms and all road conditions so far. Phantom wife(who so-far only Carl has seen) says she is coming to the meet & eat this weekend(weather permitting.).

I had the same problem (mostly 1up / no trailer / no high speed)last year when I got a "deal" from local shop thinking I was dealing for better Dunlops (409). Was told by other dealer that the 404's were for cruisers not tourers. Put on Metzler's this year.

Horns have lost effectiveness(couldn't scare a mouse) so was wondering how many 1st Gen's have stebble horn on bike. Have seen and heard them on 2nd Gen and sounded great(not sure how police would view them when blown----only when necessary) would the large 30amp relay be a drain on stator? Where would they be best mounted?

I took out 1-Ultra Classic Electra glide(full dressed-one up from Electra glide Classic) Found fairing was too close compared to mine separate turn signals were a pain heel toe shifter was too high to use and didn't look adjustable mirrors on handle-bars were a pain too try and look out of(too close to hands and cose to elbows no gear indicator besides Neutral not as much protection for legs:thumbdown: 2-Fat-boy not used to not having fairing good power-band heel-toe shifter not fitting to be used:thumbdown: 3-Road-king TOO much vibration at idle but not bad ridding windshield too close heel toe same as other's no gear indicator Main opinion is not a likely buy in near future Got back on after rides and didn't even know if it was running-----noooooo vibration and just enuff wind protection for my taste Even tho mine has lots of fairing out front and top heaviness it is the only bike I would have for now:173::173::173:

Went with guy from work to the Rock's Harley test ride yesturday. Don't know why people say once you ride a Harley you won't ride anything else. Was not impressed enough to buy one unless I had amnesia and won the lottery. Was gad to get back on my own bike without all the VIBRATION and hand numbing ride.

Well I think Marcarl must still be in shock after my visit yesterday. My phantom wife finally met Carl ( Marca wasn't home) after we left Norwich Ont. for a drive(in her new Sport Ute) not the bike.(last minute decision). We went out to check his bike to see if I had an idea why his bike might be acting the way it is --but I wasn't much help. She said she would try and come to the meet & eat in May .WE also gave her a look around the shop. We had a good visit for about an hour or so and it was time for Carl to finish up his closing the shop and then go for a ride to check-out his bike. Hope it went alright.

According to the Manufacturer it is a ONE piece unit with the mounting tube in the middle. The picture is of one unit only --showing both sides. Seems to be like the rivco unit. It is about 7/8" thick and the filter(seperately bought) is about 3 3/8" making it about 4 1/4" total and taking rough measurements it seems to clear the chin guard.. I could show it when I receive it(if interested)

Condor I do believe it is the manufacturer I am getting it from as the names are the same as your e-mail's, and he says it is cheaper to ship to U.S. than to someone down the street. Also our two taxes are payed in the shipping.

Hey Condor that's where I Just bought one from yestureday. You guy's save more as we in Ontario Canada have to pay $16.50 for shipping/pst/gst(taxes).Mine should arrive next week. Borrowed extra one off Marcarl as he had an extra.(some mishap he had). Thought for a minnute that as usual I lost out on a bargain but seems no deal on quantity buy.

Who is using an after-market OIL filter adapter on a first-gen(86-93) I had one of the "ears" on the housing(stops housing from turning when installing and removing) fall into the drain pan when I changed oil on Sat. and was fine driving around until Tues, morning when I arrived at work and bike started to drip a little. When I came out after work and started it up it dripped a whole lot (unsafe) so I got a ride home and went back to trailer it home.Put on my repair-table and found it was leaking where the "ear" broke off. Am now looking at after-market adapters to replace it. Found one made out of billet alluminum but not sure about them---don't want to go to salvage yard as they would be as old as mine so could be as much trouble in long run. Any help would be appreciated!!!!!!
