Canada is the same for importing wooden items. My friend inherited an antique Triumph with sidecar (made of wood) and it was confiscated at customs and he now has to rebuild with Canadian wood. Not sure if the same would happen if traveling thru the country or not.

Had an off and on rainy ride from Woodstock Ont. to Fort Erie this morning.Went to Motorcycle Swap Meet---mostly Harley Davidson stuff(buying parts lost?????) but bought set of 3 leather small bags to fit between bars and windshield on my Road-star for my trip(hopefully to Maintanance Day) and Out Back coats for the Phantom Wife and I.Stopped by Wizard765's place but he wasn't home so had coffee at Tim Hortons and drove to MarCarl's and visited for a while before riding home still in the rain. Luckily I had tonight off or it would have been a lllooonnnnggg night. Was not a bad ride at all very refreshing.

Ingenuity among Venturers is alive all the time! Great idea! Many years of towing and many joyful trips lay ahead for you.

Freebird's Maintenance Day Parts/Accessories Thread
sleepy2 replied to michellea's topic in Watering Hole
Could you give me a quote on clutch-cable/push throttle and pull throttle cables for 2000 Yamaha Road star Silverado? If you could get aftermarket braided covered what would be cost ?Priced ones from Old Bike Barn for Motion Pro Armor Coat SST and Big Bike and they were around roughly $75 --$100.Figured if I could pick up at Maintenance Day I could keep with me as spares. Thanks inadvance -
Kick stand reminder.......again.

Would a grade8 bolt be a better replacement as they are supposed to take a lot bigger side load than grade5. -
Got 'er done!!!!!!!!!

Went to Princes Auto but they don't carry the right angle adapter anymore. Will check with Canadian Tire. Looks OK for coming down tonight but with weather it probably won't be on bike(#$%#%% weather) -
I have used the same type (picked them up at Forest City surplus at lower prices) not Reese brand(did pick up some extra ones when they went on clearance) but works the same. I use this type on my 87 Venture(which is still looking for parts )and also on my 2000 Yamaha Roadstar. They work great . Have put Led lights on trailer so there is less draw on bike electricals tho. Not hard to hook-up.

You said you couldn't get the drill in where you wanted and thought that maybe a right angle adapter (Canadian Tire sells them for around $30 I think and maybe Princess Auto ((will be going there today and will check)) will be able to reach in where you need to go. This afternoon doesn't look good as friend asked to go to London to look for spare hard-drive back-up but will try for Wed. -
I will be attending MarCarl's Meet & Greet in May and will also be trying to bring wife(Who has received the name of Phantom Wife) as she hardly ever showed up with me. Looking forward to meeting everyone again.

I wish you guys all the luck. I thought it was Carl's bike he was working on. What nights and times do you work on bike in case I have a chance I might come down and give some moral support and help.Depends on what wife has on her mind. I can't promise anything but I will try. -
Think Ontario signs are bad then look out if you go to Quebec!!!!

I agree with Marcarl it IS satisfying to build your own! I also built mine by using a York 2000 weight set. Used legs of bench for frame under a cart op carrier . Tongue was made from the bar that went up back of set to hold weights.Bumper was made with stabilizer feet and got axle from old tent trailer my nephew had .Used LED lights to help with battery draw.It might not be the best looking like a store bought one but I built it /it works great and is VERY useful. Good luck with your build!

Nothing bring done right now! mostly because lost out on 2 parts bikes that supposedly had good usable upper outer fairings.Still looking tho even tho phantom wife says "your never going to get that bike fixed and she always thought it was""ugly"" but also why should I fix it if we are going to get me"us" a NEW bike in a year or so! I will believe that when I see it. She says I can buy brand new Venture after car is paid for. NOT REALLY BELIEVABLE BUT I will see.Hope I'm wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got up lost out on 84 parts bike(not where it was for sale)Looks like my luck hasn't changed as usual.then wife wanted to go out for breakfast tried several places and either closed or lined up should have waited in line as 4 breakfasts cost me $100 at upper class motel.Should have known better.
-
Thanks dingy for the reply. I was looking back for any other write-ups but couldn't find anything. I ask because the line I have on an 84 says he replaced his and my 87 probably needs them(was not quite right before accident few years ago).Still trying to find body parts P.s. Happy New Year

Might as well get a set for my 87.I could put them in over winter while I wait to find Outer fairing pieces to fix her up (accident 2 years ago).May even get her back on road next year(miss it alot). When would you like money and how to get it to you? If Wizard765 doesn't mind you could ship mine with his and I would help with shipping and I could have a reason (none really needed tho) for a ride to his place. Ok with you Wizard765???
