  3. Brad, I (in the past ) have always used the kill switch....however comma....the kill switch has always functioned when I wanted it to on my previous bikes. I like the IDEA of the kill swith being there in case something goes haywire while goin down the road. Buy not sure if I want the grief that comes with this one. I'll make up my mind and replace it more than likely if not, i'll go ahead and solder the bypass and use that switch hole (for lack of a better word) for something else maybe. i dunno
  4. Good idea. I'm printing all this stuff out so I will remember. thanks
  5. Nope, I was pretty po'd. I just screwed it back in there and went home. I havent touched it yet.
  6. YEah i thought of that acutally. The electric part of this is the only thing I have some knowledge of. But it ended up being what I thought, though who knows when the other will go bad.
  7. Oh , i'll have questions....count on that. If I don't do this myself, I will make sure the shop does that. Maybe they'll let me watch and learn. who knows. thanks bunches!!!
  8. I've had my 84 for a week and half now and my switch has left me stranded more times than not. I've used contact cleaner, dielectric grease, a hair dryer, cleaned contacts myself...you name it. Yesterday it left me stranded in the parking lot for the last time. I cut the switch off and spliced the wires together just to get home. that worked just fine. Now, i'm figuring which way i'm going to go . If i can find a new/aftermarket switch that holds up a bit better I may use that. OR I'll put an eject button for the back seat.....still undecided. Good Luck
  9. So i packed the runkill switch with dielectric grease and the stupid thing still left me stranded in a parking lot. So i took the switch out and bypassed it just to get home. I'd like to find a totally new switch somewhere (maybe a better one that handles moisture a little better). Any ideas? I'm not having much luck other than some crappy used ones on ebay that will probably have the same issue. thanks a bunch.
  10. Appreciate the infor guys. That will help. I ride whichever mood strikes me at the time. Sometimes two up on long rides. However, i'm not riding much right now on this old baldie dunlop. I may try taking the wheel off myself but don't know if I trust myself that much. Thank both of you for your help. this is my first dresser of any kind and its a whole new animal. Andrew
  11. Another dumb question but i'm tired of searching online... I'm still figuring all this stuff out about this new (to me) 84venture. I need a new tire. No bike shops in my town...blah blah blah... SO: when shopping for a rear tire...What size should I be looking for and what should I expect to spend for the tire and install (on average). thx y'all a

  20. Ok, just got my 84 venture yesterday. Been a vstar rider till now. I have no book on this bike and i'm kind of lost as to what/where everything is. Any suggestions on where I can go to read up? Also: My throttle is "sticky" and doesnt return to normal resting position on its own which is a "royale" (pardon the pun) pain. Any suggestions on adjustments for that? Thanks!!
