Finally an official Bad Biker Dude!
SledgeHammer replied to Sleeperhawks Mechanic's topic in Watering Hole
Ok, I have given this a lot of consideration. After studying the picture with the tattoo posted by Beer30, I have come to a conclusion. My conclusion is, that a tattoo would look better on Sleeperhawk's Mechanic than on me. How can anyone dispute that? Bobbie, I give you my tattoo. Gene, does the same offer go for Bobbie? Bobbie,I am ready to make my donation to St. Judes. Just decide which tattoo you want and where you want it at.- 44 replies

I have owned both the GW and the BMW. I sold a 2003 K1200LT to buy the RSV. The GW and BMW are both great bikes, but I liked the BMW better. It was much more nimble and had more than enough power for me (a lot more powerful than the RSV). It was like a crotch rocket touring bike. Both the GW and BMW had amenities that I liked. I really liked the power windshield on the BMW. I like that both were EFI. Neither has anything on the RSV when it comes to comfort. So why did I switch? I love the looks of the RSV, the 5 year warranty, and the V-Twin engine. For me, the looks, reliability, and ride of the RSV makes up for it's other shortcomings when compared to the GW or BMW.

"Tell you what Tim, seeing your one Bad Biker Dude, lets do something for say....St. Judes You and I will collect donations and we will get Tattooed at the same time at a given date and location....what do you say.....tough guy ":stickpoke: "Hey , that sounds like a Great Idear ! I'll go one step further and pay for the Tattoos if you allow my son to do it ! My son is a tattoo artist and also does Body Piercings too . Tim , if you are scared , I think we can talk RiderDuke to hold your hand ....":12101: I'm not scared, I just would rather get the tattoo on my Bad Biker Dude Do-Rag And RiderDuke can hold it while it is being tattooed. And I will make a donation to St. Judes. Or maybe I could get a tattoo of a pimple. Or my all time favorite is the eyes of the Ceratopogonidae to scale. Let me think about it.- 44 replies

Finally an official Bad Biker Dude!

Yes, I am a "Bad Biker" Dude and I have my wife's permission to say that. And I am upholding "Bad Biker" traditions. You Know what they are, frequent Dairy Queen stops, lots of Meet and Eats, and gatherings of VR friends. I am a new man. I am a "Bad Biker". Just don't hold it against me that I am to scared to get a tattoo:15_8_211[1]: .- 44 replies

I paid $349.62 for a set of Venoms 2 weeks ago before going to Freebird's maintenance day. They actually charged more for the MT90 front tire than for the stock size 150-80/16. Sure like the handling though. BTW, that is $75 more than the same shop charged me last June for a set of Michelin Commanders installed. It remains to be seen whether it is worth $75 difference to me. There is some improvement in handling, but the real story to me will be how many miles I get on the Venoms.

Sleeperhawk's Mechanic Needs Your Help!!!!
SledgeHammer replied to Sleeperhawks Mechanic's topic in Watering Hole
My pleasure to help a worthy cause, but we need some jail pictures of the jailbird. -
I have both the TLC and BEER30 sets. I like my name on the TLC set, although you can have BEER30's monogrammed. There is no competition between which is more heavy duty. BEER30 wins absolutely. I also like the BEER30 trunk liner considerably better. It is an exact fit for the trunk and holds a ton of stuff. Gene makes his liners to last forever. If BEER30 had been making his liners before I bought the TLC, I would only have the one set. I was impressed enough with the liners that beer makes that I bought them, even though I already had the TLC. You will not be disappointed with them. I don't think you will wear them out. OK Gene, where's my commission?

You can get a holder for just about any GPS to fit the Ram mount. I have used Lowrance, Magellan, and Garmin GPS on my RSV. I have used the same Ram mount and only change the GPS holder. It only takes about a minute to change the holders. Also, on the GPS I mentioned above, the Garmin Nuvi 660, it also has Bluetooth. It has everything the Zumo has minus the XM radio and being waterproof. But it cost only half of what a Zumo cost. Plus the antenna for the radio on the Zumo is about another $175.

Here is an excellent GPS at a very good price. I use it on my RSV and it works very well. It has an FM modulator so you can listen through the RSV speakers or the headset. It is excellent, with only one drawback. It is not waterproof. I cover it with a plastic bag and it does great. It also has an MP3 player and other options. http://www.compubizusa.com/product.asp?pf_id=010-00540-00&shop

Gary, You have given us all good advice. I am just so sorry that your good advice was the result of such a devastating tragedy. Thank you for trying to look out for the interest of other members. Tim

Welcome and let me know when you buy that Venture. I retired in 2004 from the NC Highway Patrol. Greensboro was my last duty station before I retired. So, neighbor, let me know when you are ready to ride.

That is not correct. The antenna for my Sirius is inside my fairing on the RSV. I split the fairing and mounted the antenna on a piece of steel. It has been inside the fairing for about 18 months and works fine there. I use it in my car and truck with the antenna on the dash board. I have both XM and Sirius and the Sirius actually loses the reception considerably less than the XM radio when traveling. Sirius has the ground towers that give you a 2 second delay. That is why it does not lose reception when going under a bridge or something to that effect. They are both good, but I give the reception edge to Sirius. I give the talk radio edge to XM, but sports definitely goes to Sirius. The music channels, for the most part, are even for both of them. I would base my choice on what your listening preferences are. Outside of listening preferences, there is not much differences between the reception or quality of XM or Sirius.

I saw this on E-bay and I am curious. Has anyone tried it? Is it a worth while upgrade or is it money wasted? I am interested if it actually works and improves horsepower. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Venture-Royal-Star-XVZ13-Fan-Switch-UPGRADE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ35594QQihZ015QQitemZ250236674191QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

I saw a gas price at a local service station today for $3.73. I am in shock. All the stations in my area are over $3.50 a gallon.Give it a couple of months and I will probably wish I could find it for that price again. I am out of the pleasure riding for a while. I will ride my bike when I have to run errands and that is about it. My wife and I spent over $600 in gas last month. She has to go to work (70 mile round trip commute for her every day). But I don't have to ride, especially at nearly $20 to fill the motorcycle and a $100 to fill the truck. Time to start doing some serious drilling off our east and west coast and Alaska. For you environmentalist that my take offense, I think my existence is just as important as any other creatures. And yeah I know, it will take several years before the crude will make it to the refineries. So let's get it started.

I agree with what Squidley said. I need to give this a couple of weeks.

To the members who knows me and who don't
SledgeHammer replied to E-Fishin-C's topic in Watering Hole
A sober reminder and reality check. Enough said. Thanks. -
I have had both XM and Sirius. I bought a lifetime membership to Sirius, eventhough, my truck has factory XM. The key issue for me was the sports. I am an avid sports fan and Sirius has the market on most sports, particularly NFL football. My wife currently has a subscription to XM and has had it for 2 years. She is going to switch to Sirius also. XM has more channels (170) than Sirius (125), but I only listen to approximately 10 of the channels on Sirius and it was the same for me with XM. So the number of channels was not a factor. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/08/11/AR2006081100085.html

Wow, what a change in direction this post took! It went from my name change to I was a contender in a jello wrestling match with RiderDuke. Now that's funny. I believe the stage has been set for a good time this week end at the VA meet and eat in Williamsburg. But we need to invoke the Vegas rules. You know, what happens in Williamsburg stays in Williamsburg.
