  1. Precisely F...ed Up Beyond All Recognition
  2. So I've been told many times but if it is still necessary to dose with Seafoam it doesn't seem to be very effective.
  3. Farm equipment for use in maintenance of your hay farm.
  4. Exactly, there is so much misleading BS involved in food packaging. There is added sugar in almost everything and enough salt to pickle your heart. Just to make the reading of labels more challenging, there must be at least 15 different terms for sugar. Nutella, for example, is slightly more than 50% sugar. No wonder it is so popular. There is almost a half teaspoon of sugar in a tablespoon of big brand peanut butter. And on it goes....
  5. Not a professional cook but I've been cooking since first grade and I like making things. About 20 years ago I decided to start cleaning up my eating habits. More of an evolution than a revolution, just began substituting food that had less refined carbs and more fiber. After learning about the importance of reading the ingredient and nutrition info on packaging I gravitated to making more of the basic things that I might otherwise buy because I could leave out the bad stuff that is put into much of it. I occasionally like to use mayo but sometimes a jar of Kraft Mayo would be in the fridge for 6 or 8 months and never go bad. There has gotta be something odd there. The mayo recipe is one I found a few years ago. It's so easy, adaptable and healthy that why not make it instead of eating the unknown chemical concoction that the stores sell. Add some garlic and hot sauce and you have a delicious aioli. It's really quite adaptable, by adding some basil you get a pesto flavour. It's a journey.
  6. I suggest you don't ever buy off the shelf dressing because it is so easy to make your own. Here is a recipe for Thousand Island dressing and then here is how to make your own mayonnaise. 1 cup olive oil 1 tsp dry mustard 1 tsp black pepper 1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp lemon juice 1 egg straight from the fridge Mix all ingredients except egg in a 1 pint mason jar. Add egg and let it sink to the bottom. Place a stick blender over the egg and turn it on high. In about a minute you will have a pint of perfect healthy mayonnaise. I don't use EVOO for this just the regular Kirkland olive oil. Easy peasy.
  7. NAPA has Seafoam on this month for CDN$9.00 so I'll be getting a few bottles. Been using MMO for the past 6 months and it's not up to the task.
  8. Bit disillusioned with MMO. After about 6 months of adding 2 oz to each tank the motor started running quite rough. Seemed familiar so I put in my last 1/3 bottle of Seafoam and now it's running much better. Before the MMO I usually added about 1/4 bottle of Seafoam every 4 months or so. Had to get 6 bottles on Amazon so I've got 5 left. Planning on doubling the dose to 4 oz till it's all gone and re-evaluate whether it's worth buying. Seafoam is on sale this month at NAPA so I'll be getting some of that.
  9. Yes, I know what you mean. My BP was good for the past 5 years or so and then about 4 or 5 months ago I went to my Dr and she said my BP was up too and that I should monitor it at least every 3 or 4 days. I got an automatic BP Monitor on Amazon for not very much. Also thought about any recentish changes to my diet. The only thing that came up was that I had been eating Dempster's Whole Wheat Tortillas for a quick lunch or bedtime snack. The filling was just what I might normally eat anyway but they have a lot of salt in them. Stopped eating them and BP went down to where it was previously. I haven't salted anything I cook for about 10 years but there is lots of salt in all processed food so it's still easy to over do the sodium. Salad is a good choice that gets trashed if you put a commercial dressing on it. Full of salt and sugar. Best thing to do is read the ingredient label and decide whether whatever you are buying has too much bad stuff and put it on your no-go list. A registered nutritionist is a good and a convenient idea. I never went there and spent a lot of time researching and became my own DIY nutritionist. There is a lot to learn and unfortunately, a lot of BS on the Internet about what to eat and what not to eat.
  10. Just to be clear, 12 cups with 1/2 teaspoon of sugar works out to 6 teaspoons of sugar which just happens to be the recommended limit for a person on a 2000 calorie diet. That is a bit of a concern since there is no way to get totally away from the sugar that comes naturally in food. Most processed food has gobs of sugar added which makes it even more difficult. For example, Campbell's Cream of Mushroom soup has 28 g of sugar which adds up to 7 teaspoons of the stuff.
  11. Seems to me most soda pop contains caffeine so drinking more coffee should help out with your caffeine addiction. Of course, the way some people like their coffee is almost like a dessert. I drink coffee all day, probably 12 or more cups, but it's black with a scant half teaspoon of sugar so not a lot of calories.
  12. That's what I was thinking. You probably have enough land to come out ahead without having to mow or invest in a tractor. You want to ride something, get an ATV or two that you can write off on your taxes.
  13. I get it, makes sense. But, what about hay? It's kinda like grass and needs to be mowed at specific times. There might be someone in your area who does hay and might be encouraged to mow it for free or even for a cut of the produce.
  14. Now that you have decided on a tractor, I'm curious to know why you have so many acres to occasionally mow. Just mowing instead of cutting and bailing hay. How about some four footed mowers like sheep or cows? Might be a bit more work but there is an income in there.
  15. Thanks for the ideas. Mine is not leaking so I think I'll put some JB Weld on it just to strengthen the area. If it starts to leak I'll get a new one. I did bend the guard back to its original position but one of the attachment points on the lower frame got torn so it got bent back into position too but it needs to be re-welded. The guards have been modified so they are painted. Since some of the paint got chipped off when I was bending it back into position, the whole thing will be getting a re-paint.
  16. So I understand from others. Don't sweat it. Cutting down is beneficial so even if you have a few a day you are still winning and will get used to it. Then you can cut back a bit more. While working on the soda situation don't forget to watch for added sugar in the foods you eat. It's a package deal...right.
  17. Wonder if you can get a Yamaha Service Advisory to swap out the V-twin for a V4? That would really fix your new bike.
  18. So I guess it's not PVC then. I would have tried the ABS patch just because it is so easy to do. I wonder if anyone has tried patching that elbow with JB Weld.... or something else?
  19. Good to know, when I look at it what comes to mind is PVC but that's totally unscientific. Good idea about grinding the guard.
  20. A little while ago I mentioned having a bad week. Part of it was my VR got blown over which jammed the engine guard into the plastic elbow off the water pump. It now has that crease that so many Ventures seem to have. On the up side, so far it is not leaking. My question is what kind of plastic is the elbow and can it be repaired?
  21. Best thing to do is Google diet soda. There is a lot of hype on the Internet but this link gives a very balanced view of the effects of diet soda. My view is that there is nothing good about diet anything because the sweetness feeds sugar addiction, even though containing none, by desensitizing the taste buds which leads to extra consumption.
  22. So what, is the Warden on strike or are you batching it? Here is some info on choosing better for you Chinese food. http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/healthy-living/use-your-noodle-the-real-chinese-diet-is-so-healthy-it-could-solve-the-wests-obesity-crisis-873651.html https://www.womenshealthmag.com/food/healthy-chinese-food https://www.livestrong.com/article/408467-is-chinese-food-healthy-to-eat/ Starvation is not a very good way to lose weight and an occasional cheat night is is not a bad thing in the long run.
  23. Hahahaha, love multi-purpose products. I'll check it out, JIG-A-LOO is available at Canadian Tire. Thanks again Puc.
  24. Hahaha...that's the idea. Came across this related info tonight and thought of you. Hee-Hee-Hee. Anyway, if you don't want to hire a dietitian then a reasonably accurate general knowledge of recommended practices is very helpful.
  25. Awesome Puc, I see both of them. I was laying on the right side of the bike with my head stuck between the wheel and the engine and could not see that starter connector. It must have been hidden by the coolant drain. Should have checked from the other side of the bike but was too cold to think straight. I'll be getting at them tomorrow. Your video was perfect and a valiant effort to boot. Thanks a bunch.
