I kinda figured that part out from the pix I've seen of the starter. Problem is, except for down in the front, I don't know where the starter is. I was trying to find it today but was so cold I couldn't really concentrate. Hopefully I will have better luck tomorrow finding both ends of the positive link.

For some reason I thought the starter solenoid was mounted on the starter. So where does the wire from the solenoid connect to the starter? The main fuse appears to be good. I can start the engine more often than not but when it won't start it's because there doesn't appear to be enough power to kick the engine over fast enough, very similar to a half dead battery and almost like the hot start problem except that it's not hot.

Good idea, a few years ago I opted for salad dressing on potatoes. There are lots of flavours so they didn't get boring. Then I looked at the label and found out what was in off the shelf salad dressing and that was it for me. No more of that junk. One more thing about potatoes, the skins have a lot of nutrition in them so scrub them bake, boil or steam them and eat the whole thing.

That was my thought too but I seem to recall the manual often recommends 30 wt for lubing quite a few things. I do have some sewing machine oil so I'll go with that. Thanks Bob.

Everything seems to be falling apart over the past week and a bit. Had the choke issue, mentioned in another thread, which now seems to be resolved except for the question of long term lubrication. Starting problems. Turns over great and a few hours later it won't turn over at all. It's like a dead battery but it's not the battery. Got stuck in Victoria last week so the bike sat for 4 days and the engine started just like it should. Went to work that night and got off at 23:30. Wouldn't start. Left it in the parking lot and walked a few miles to catch the last bus of the night and was about a hundred yards away when it went by. Had to walk 3 hours to get home. Gaaak!!! Cleaned the battery terminals first but didn't help much, had to get a jump the next morning. Then did the connection at the case for the negative wire to the starter. Didn't look bad and don't know yet if it will help. Can't find the positive connection at the solenoid. I should know where it is by now but I don't have a clue where to look. Guessing it's somewhere behind something. In any case, if someone would point me in the right direction it would be very helpful. Did I mention it's 44 degrees and feels like 30 with a 20 mph wind blowing down my neck. There's more but first things first. Gotta go to work at 23:30 tomorrow and would like to know the engine will start to get there and back.

So changing what you should eat vs what you have been eating takes a little effort because there is a learning curve. Mostly for the cook so you can put the onus on the warden to prepare healthier food. It's actually not that hard to do just increase the amount of veggies and add in beans or brown rice or lentils with some meat. Most of the fat on a chicken is in/under the skin and then, of course, the dark meat had more fat actually in it than breast meat. Pork loin is very lean. Game meat is also very lean so no Bambi should make it off your property.

That's pretty much right on. Most pasta is made from refined wheat that digests quickly and gets turned into ....sugar.... Surprise, surprise. That is why refined wheat in most breads, cereals and pasta, white rice and there are quite a few more to add to the list that are high GI foods that pre-diabetic and diabetic folks should totally stay away from. Potatoes are often maligned but are actually quite a healthy choice. Most of the problem with potatoes is what is put on them like gobs of butter and sour cream and bacon bits and on how they are cooked, as in fried. An interesting fact I learned a while ago is that cooked potatoes that have been refrigerated turn into a resistant starch that dramatically reduces their Glycemic Index. The same thing is true of rice. This makes left-overs a more healthy choice than freshly cooked. One of the many advantages of the cook once, eat many method of food prep. Casseroles are king.

Looking for opinion

The bikes are Mk II's so no second gear issues. The rest of it is spot on. -
I did pretty much what you suggested Puc. The cable was lubricated a week or so ago. The plungers now appear to be operating properly and the hangup seemed to be in the linkage. There is one area up high on the right side that I had initially missed. Once I got that one the choke worked smoothly and they all opened fully. Yea.. success. Once the solvent in WD 40 evaporates there isn't much oil left behind. Should the linkages be lubricated with 30 wt or with a lighter oil such as sewing machine oil?
-
The right side choke leaver moves a lot less than the left side does. If I push on the right side lever it will move more but I can feel a sticky point. Can it be freed up without pulling the carbs? I've sprayed the linkage with WD 40 and scrubbed with a toothbrush but it doesn't seem to be getting any better.

Low fat and zero fat products are junk food. Making fat a part of your diet is a good idea but the fat you eat should be selective since all fats are not created equal. The body needs some fat at the right time in order to absorb some nutrients. The bit issue with eating any fat is they have a lot of calories per gram you need to be careful.

Jeepers, unless you had really small portions that meal is probably 3000 calories. Seems to me starving yourself and overeating all in one day is a recipe for disaster. I think you might be wise to talk to a dietitian for a few sessions.

I've never tried to pair a GPS to the Sena but seem to recall that it needs to be set up as if it was a phone so check out the phone pairing procedure in the manual.

One of the nice things about MyFitnessPal is you can paste in the ingredients from a recipe and it will create a nutrition profile that can be saved. Makes it relatively easy to track and adjust your home made foods.

Don't beat yourself up over it. Cutting down is good, just keep in mind the goal is to be pop free. I imagine it is almost as difficult as quitting smoking. Substituting filtered water with lemon or green tea is supposed to help. For me, since caffeine doesn't bother me, I just drink black coffee au naturelle.

The shock was the forecasted flurries going directly to 2 inches. The pic was taken about halfway through. Decided to stay overnight at my friend's in Victoria. In the morning the main roads were cleared but the side roads were solid ice and my bike was on a side road. A little snow in the winter is not entirely unexpected in this area but it is always a shock when it happens. Drivers around here don't have a clue how to manage snow so it's better to stay off the roads completely never mind staying off the bike. Picked it up today. All the snow is gone except in my back yard. That's the good thing, we are now back to the normal drizzles and low 40's. Kinda dreary but I'll take it over days or weeks of snow.

I think we all have pretty much debunked the idea that "diet" pop or for that matter "diet" anything is a good choice to make. Counting calories is only relevant if you are eating nutritious food compared to highly refined junk food. Here is a little article that makes that point. For anyone interested in trimming down a bit or a lot, it is really worthwhile to do a little research on what foods are nutritional. Fad diets are a short term solution but inevitably they grow tiresome, while some are actually unhealthy over a long term. Surprising enough, nutritionally good food is less expensive than fake diet food or junk food.

Supposed to be nice tomorrow so I get to take the bus in to the big smoke and will hopefully be independently mobile by noon. Fingers crossed, that will be the last kick at the can from Old Man Winter.

Would appear the washing machine was not getting enough power and overheated. Depending on how the generator was hooked up it is possible there was too much voltage drop before getting to the washer, extension cords? Also depending on the hookup, your little generator may have been supplying some of its energy to the rest of the neighbourhood.

There is something inherently wrong with this pic taken last Wednesday. Went in to Victoria to visit a friend. Snow flurries were predicted but this is Lotus Land so they can normally be disregarded. Seems the weather fairies got their coasts mixed up and sent East Coast weather deep into the West. While they are sweating in 80 F heat we are digging out. It's just wrong. :snow2: Oh well, enjoy the while you have it. We got a little more this morning but I will hopefully be able to rescue my bike tomorrow.

Life would be pretty boring if you didn't have to compete for anything. Cagers are a blessing in disguise since they make you keep your wits about you. Hope I can still ride if I make it to 90.

Yes they do but only 1000 calories in a day isn't very much. That's about 2 Big Mac's. You would have to be very dedicated to keep that up for long. The minimum that I have heard suggested is 1200 calories. I'm aiming for 2000 calories but I'm also trying to come up with the most nutritional choices to make up those calories. No empty calories for me and no starvation trauma because I don't have to go hungry and I'm slowly losing weight. Another 10 or 15 lbs to go but I'm happy with the way things are progressing and am not looking forward with anticipation to the day when I reach my stated goal.

Bypass Antidive, yes.. no
camos replied to Venturous's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I bypassed the anti-dives on my 90 VR because I was having charging issues. They are electric not mechanical like on the Mk I's. Went to 15 wt fork oil and can't say I noticed any difference in front end dive with 0 lbs in forks. The charging problem turned out to be a dying stator but didn't find any reason to go back to the anti-dives.
