Uh,..ride motorcycles? Seriously though I retired in October of 2004. I work as a consultant 3-4 days/month, I ride my bikes, read, camp, target shoot, and generally just "enjoy" life. You'll love it. I always said that if I could figure a way to get 'em to pay me to stay home I could keep myself amused. So far, no problem! Enjoy your retirement!!

I think so too. It's going to be quite a change but between my health issues I think it's going to allow the wife and I to continue to ride together for a long time to come:bighug:

The base price for the kit is $7999. Mine is pretty well "loaded" and it comes to a bit over $13k. They will ship right to your home. Roadsmith says 2 days for assembly if you've not done one before. At Wingding last year a guy road in a Wing and SIX hours later it was a completed trike! They had two guys working on it, and (obviously) they'd done this a time or two before:whistling:. My buddy is an excellent wrench and quite finicky, so I figure 1 1/2 days or so from the time I get the kit. The prices are posted at the Roadsmith web site-check 'em out! (Did I mention the 3 year/Million mile warranty?) If you're interested, call 'em and ask for Doug Lindholm-he is VERY helpful!

I'd strongly urge you to get the auxiliary tank. (I've included it on my kit I ordered the other day). The main reason, for me at least, is that I hope to do some traveling "out west" and possibly alaska one of these days. In some parts of the country gas stations can be pretty "few and far between". The extra security that having more fuel on board in these cases is well worth the cost to me. Enjoy your "new" ride! I can't wait for mine to get in!!

When you check on the various websites you always find folks "gripping" about their their machine(whatever type of machine, car, bike, etc.) In checking a LOT I found most folks happy with all the various models, BUT I did find several folks who were "complaining" about each model, except the Roadsmith. That, combined with the impression the machine made on my last year at WingDing was one of the big reasons why I settled on the 'Smith. I really like the way they're put together. At the show last year I saw one with the body off and it was impressive!

Thanks! I've got a friend who has been a motorcycle mechanic for 30 years who's putting it together. I know he'll do it right (and he works reasonably!

Well gosh Ollie, I dunno? (Actually the "crossbow" from Lehman looks, IMHO better than the bike by itself:whistling:. Man, I HATE getting old 'n crusty. I NEVER thought I'd go with a trike and now I'm very anxious for it to get here. It's like my uncle (who's now 98!) said a number of years ago, EVERYBODY'S going to get old if they live long enough!

Well, I finally did it. Ordered a Roadsmith kit today for my Goldwing! Arthritis and old age are catching up to me I guess and I found myself worrying about my hip when stopping the bike. (Afraid that, especially when I'm two up, the hip will give way and I'll not be able to hold the bike). Anyway, after looking and soul searching I finally decided to spring for three wheels. The Roadsmith's got a lot of features that I really like and is the only trike kit I've found that somebody's not complaining about:)...Anyway, it ships the week of April 9, so middle of next month I'll be "up" on 3!

I have a new Nolan N90 and am VERY satisfied with it. The newer flip fronts are much improved over what was available a few years ago. I personnally like metal latches and pins on my flip fronts---seems more solid than the plastic some use.

+1. I rode a Vision when they first came out. Wasn't keen on the looks, but I loved the way it rode and handled, especially at low speeds! I'd have bought it if Momma had been happy on the back seat......Very nice bike. Congrats and enjoy!

Amen brother! If these "creatures" ? I'd suggest Iran-they'd fit right in (heh, heh, heh). I truly cannot believe any American could be such a piece of crap as to "demonstrate" and denigrate an american hero at his funeral. Truly such people are the scum of the earth. I read somewhere that this so called "church" (and it's truly a disgrace to all churchs that they use that name) consists of one prime jerk and his extended family. I sincerely hope they get exactly what they deserve, if not in this life, then in the one beyond....

I believe they already use BMW powertrains. Bring your wallet though......

Glad you're OK. Those darn retreads scare the heck outta me. Had one come off the FAR side of a trailer a few years ago, went all the way UNDER the stupid trailer and smacked the passenger door of our Sequoia as we were passing the truck. If we'd been on the bike....well I don't even want to think about it.
-
Yup, either that or your units defective. I've got tenders on both the BMW and the Wing all the time through the cooler months. That way there's never a worry and they're always ready to go. Have done so for several years now with NO problems whatsoever.

Well, I did it! A new Roadsmith trike kit is on order for the Wing. Supposed to ship week of April 9 (Dang time has slowed down since I ordered it....). I got it pretty well loaded up-the top line auto leveling suspension, custom wheels and the sidewinders (rear colorcoded bumpers) are the ONLY things it Doesn't have!. Got a decent price for what I'm getting compared to the others I'm looking at and can't wait to try it out! I'll keep ya posted!

Well old age and artheritis are taking their toll and I've got a hip that it giving me fits. In order to keep riding with the wife on back I'm looking at putting a trike kit on my Wing. (I'm getting to the point I'm not sure the leg is going to hold when I touch down at a stop on a full boat tourer with the wife on board, and I sure don't want to drop the darn thing). No problem solo on a light bike, but two up.... Anyway I'm looking pretty closely at the Roadsmith and the Hannigan. At this time I'm leaning toward a Roadsmith, but I'm headed to Hannigan's later this week to check them out up close. I'm looking for the most reliable and trouble free rig, and I like the automotive based components on the Roadsmith. Any thoughts, ideas, experiences? I'd appreciate your suggestions and ideas. Thanks!

I'll second the Aero ropers. They're a little "meaty", but they've kept me warm for several years in some pretty cool temps. I typically ride regularly down into the low 30's, and two years ago left home one morning on a 450 mile ride when it was 17 and the "high" that day was 38.... With that said, my FEET are what I have trouble keeping warm. Finally got some heated battery powered insoles for my boots and that seems to have solved that problem..

I rode one a couple years ago when they first came out. There were a number of issues with the first ones out..electronic controls, twitchy steering, seat covers, etc. Hopefully they got those taken care of in the last couple years. They tend to be kinda thirsty (tests mileage in various magazines has been in the mid 20's) Engine is a Rotax V twin like in an apprillia, though tuned for torque vs horsepower. I thought the handling was "ok", though definitely NOT like a motorcycle (think ATV). I was pretty cool though not to have to hold it up in traffic . I'd consider one if in the market for a trike...

The Trace IS a nice ride. Very little traffic, no trucks. It is not a "technical" ride, just nice and easy going. I enjoy it. Start at Natchez and take it all the way to Nashville. (Be sure to check out the Loveless Cafe on the Nashville end and the old homes/restaurants in Natchez. Once you get to Nashville, check out the Grand Ol Opry and the Hermitage. Enjoy the ride!

Do we have any professionals in the Safe Business?
OldBear replied to ragtop69gs's topic in Watering Hole
Fire caulk. Check with U/L for "fire stop systems". Use a "system" that provides the SAME fire rating (time) as the safe wall and you should be fine.- 19 replies

My bikes have a "countdown" brake light set up: 4 flashes; 3 flashes; 2 flashes; ON. I like it and it DOES get folks attention! Bulb was from Rider Warehouse (Aerostich).

I dunno man, can you say "Hot" or "Heavy"....... I guess, in a straight line, they'd be bad, but I sure wouldn't want to live with one....

VW Jetta TDI or Toyota Tundra 5.7 liter. The TDI's a hoot and gets GREAT mileage! Mid 40's and I drive hard!

That would probably do it....A Voyager is a lot cheaper than a trike conversion and also, I don't know of anyone even "making" a trike kit for a VMax! I admire him for beign willing to get back on a bike after a major crash. Looks a little strange, but hey at least he's riding!
