  1. Some of those plastic cans will disolve about any thing. Good cleaner if you don't have any seals or things like that in the way. Sea-Foam cleans great and you can leave a rubber O-Ring in it for a week and it is same as when it went in. I agree Sea-Foam is getting overpriced. StarTron cost even more but is supposed to require less. A old one that works great is Marvel Mystery Oil to keep a system clean. And it is only About 4 bucks a quart.
  2. Want to check it at that guys garage up there this evening? We might be able to get in there. I know his wife....
  3. You are not the only one!!!!:rotfl: This has been a great thread. I don't think any one is too upset and I love hearing all the different opinions. I'll have to admit money is a big factor when it comes to owning a Hardley but I bet I still know places I could pick a good Basket Case up. Trouble is they locked a lot of those boys up!! I think I'll stick with my 1st Gen.
  4. I saw that ad and couldn't believe it!! Was it all true?? If it was you got a great Bike!!
  5. Glad you found it. That brake fluid is a great paint remover! Don't ask how I know.
  6. At that price its not bad. For less than 200 bucks I can get a TCI that will interchange in all my 83 - 89 1st Gens? But I have to program it?? That puts me in trouble again....
  7. I do the same just whenever I feel like it or think it needs it. But I don't do it at fill-up I usually do it with 1/2 tank or less. I got a bottle of StarTron this morning. Don't really need it now but my carbs ought to be CLEAN!!
  8. I just told the Warden the other day that I wanted to try that!! How about the one that has the whirling brushes in it??
  9. Check the brakes good while you are in there.
  10. I have taken a couple of those old Masters apart and cleaned them good and got them working. They do crud up easy.
  11. Does look sharp!! Like to see the 83.
  12. Did you feel around the tire to see if you can feel anything uneven on it?
  13. She don't back down I just have to slow down and wait on it most of the time!!! And I said most of the time. Everybody has to take a nap now and then!!!
  14. Most of us just have fun with it. We don't really care what you ride just that you ride. If I win Power Ball I'll probally own another Hardley. But you can bet there will be a few 1st Gens in the garage!!
  15. Depends on what is going on with the Bike.
  16. 2nd Gens?? Can't find them. They hide when "Brown Sugar" comes around!!!
  17. And I'm only 39!!! Mine was Rigid frame, raked 47 degrees with a twisted tube chrome 16 inch over Grundy Front end. 14 inch Ape Hangers. No shocks and only rear brake. Chrome spoke wheels a B to clean. Candy Apple Red with Gold Metal Flake. I've seen girls fight for the back seat. It did have a nice King/Queen that kind of flowed up the Sissy Bar.
  18. Run it and keep fingers crossed. While mine was acting up I kept idle screw backed off til it wasn't a factor and it still did it sometimes. I just kept pushing it and a lot of Sea-Foam and it finally cleared up??
  19. I rode Old School Hardleys. The "Newest" one I had was a 56 Pan. I gave up on Hardleys because I got tired of sitting beside the road waiting for someone to come and get me. I built most of these bikes. Maybe it was just me?? Hardley has came a long ways since those days. Not the same bike. And they sure are Purty. Some of them even sound good but I don't care for the real loud sound anymore. And got to mention the Price Tag on anything with Hardley on it is crazy. I'll stick with my 1st Gens and won't have to worry about the Stealers. OK I'm done.
  20. Mine did the same thing and there are a lot of good answers for this. See last post. I for a lot of reasons didn't want to tear carbs down. Pulled line from intake on fuel pump and ran mix of 1/3 Sea-Foam 1/3 Marvel Mystery Oil and 1/3 Fresh gas. Intended to leave sit overnight but didn't get to get back to it for 3 days. Still ran crapy when I first started but the longer I ran it the better it got. I did put a new set of NGK's after I did the soak. I get a lot of comments on this but I have the Fastest 1st Gen in West Virginia!! And it now idles Great.
  21. I have a good small compressor for the trunk for when I can't get at my big one.
  22. Really roughing it to wait it out there. You could be under a bridge somewhere.
  23. I'll have to see if my Wally world has it. Might add a little to my mix.
  24. Venture on a trailer? I ain't got the heart!!
  25. It has been a ride Jack. If I could do it over.........
