I don't think Bob is old enough for a 2nd Gen yet.

Depends on how close the 2nd Gen is. Usually not a concern!!
-

Bidding on TCI
Yammer Dan replied to hdroyer's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I don't use a snipe but I have a lot of parts in my Parts Room that I grab with last second bids. If I see something that I know is hard to get or going real cheap I will throw a last second bid at it. Got a whole bunch of parts that way. Made a lot of people mad probally. I really need those parts. Come in handy at times don't they Dale?? -

redux - 1986 carb problem
Yammer Dan replied to ahunt2412's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
To do a "Soak" Mix about 1/2 Sea-Foam and !/2 fresh gas in a can bottle or whatever. You need about 1/2 pint of mixture to make sure you get it done right. Need a length of cheap fuel line about 12-18 inches. Pull left side cover to get at fuel pump. Clamp off intake line to fuel pump with small vice grips. I don't turn off at petcock because they are very easy to break on these things. Remove intake line and hook up length of fuel line. Put other end in bottle/can of mixture. Start Bike. Let it run til you are sure all carbs are full of mixture. It is better if you drain carb bowls before you do this part. It helps to be sure each carb is getting mixture. After it has ran til you are sure all carbs are full of mixture. Just shut it off and leave it sit at least overnight. I have let them sit 3 or 4 days. Not going to hurt anything. Fire it back up dump rest of mixture into tank and ride it like you stole it. This has been known to drown a plug til it won't fire back up now and then but it will clean carbs. Need to sync them. -
I do try to handle them carefully but I have one that has seen a lot of use and a couple on the shelf still in box from 5 buck sale.

swmoto.com is good as are several places. I got last ones from JakeWilson and Dennis Kirk had a thing that they would beat anybody's price by a buck. Just show them the ad. Just check ads and watch shipping. And watch on here. When we get a good deal we can't keep our mouth shut.... -
Good news Boss! Glad it is doing good. Which side was it we need to sneak up on???

redux - 1986 carb problem
Yammer Dan replied to ahunt2412's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I'll give you 10 bucks for it.... It couldn't be much. If a jet is completely plugged pulling it is only way to get at it. Tyhe 86 i got from Skid was a great running machine. Til the day I got it. Really what had to have happened is Skid put some bad gas in it and parked it when he got 2nd Gen. Didn't start it enough and left sit a lot. Then I got it and must have put some more of the bad gas in it. I did everything I could think of but didn't want to get into those carbs on a bike that had been known to break 50 MPG. I was ready to give it back!!It took about 4 Sea-Foam treatments to get rid of it. But it now runs as good and I think a little better than it ever did. She took care of those 2nd Gens and Road Stars when she was ailing. Now..... So hang in there. My # is listed here and a few others that can get you thru this. never did see you say. Did you do a good Sea-Foam soak after you put them back on?? -
Might work. Harbor Freight has a Float Charger on sale not for about 8 bucks. Works Great.
-
Maybe I should put some smoke on "Brown Sugar" so those 2nd Gens could keep track of me??? Nice Clip Jack.
-
I got a set of mufflers on the "Blue Beast" without chrome on the bottom. Got my attention first few times!!

:sign yeah that:Thats what I was thinking. I know some are probally tired of hearing this but 20 bucks worth of Sea-Foam. Do a good strong soak use it heavy for a few tanks. Run it like you stole it and 90 per cent of our carb problemes are cured. I'm thinking something is still plugged.
-
If you drink enough they ALL look good.
-
That had to smart but did it make you any smarter?? My big problem any more is getting up and down.
-
My neighbor has several of these under his Bike. They sure do look real!!

Takes a long time to wipe those away Gene. Sorry you had to see it.

Thanks for the offer Earl but I don't think I'll need any help. " Brown Sugar" running almost perfect and I'm working on that almost!! If she is stone cold and you snap throttle wide open sometimes she will stumble a little before she tries to jerk you off the seat. Most of the time you just have to hang on and worry about keeping that front wheel down in the 1st three gears!!
-
And put them out to pasture just when they reach their prime!!
-
Only in your dreams!! " Brown Sugar" and I had a little look at a few things. She is READY!!
