Hurts to admit it but he could be right. But if it is clearing up after you run it a while it is not rings. Just wrong advice. If you like tearing down motors go ahead. I would either check the cylinders to find guilty one or just give each one a good dose of Marvel Mystery Oil and leave sit for a while til it drained off and got a chance to soak a little. Few days would be good. Crank it over without the plugs to clear it before you try to restart. Might loosen those rings up and save you a rebuild. Might not. It very well could be a valve seal. Riding is probally not going to hurt it any more than it has. If it is the rings they may come loose there could be a lot of miles left in there. Most of the smoke may go away if you get them loose. I'll probally get told this is wrong but I DON'T CARE!!

Know this has been here but was just looking again. Someone from Griffin Georgia has a ton of 1st Gen parts listed. Look OK but he didn't get a nibble. Check his shipping costs. About twice what the parts are worth on top end. I would have bid on a couple of those. But I'm probally wrong. I'll just go back to my corner.

Although at around 165 mph my rear tire does tend to shimmy a bit on the bike..... Shift it out of 3rd!! Oh nevermind its a 2nd Gen!!!! Going to be a long winter. Snow coming down!! I balance mine with two cinder blocks, axel and stick-on weights. Never had a problem. But I'm probally wrong. I don't care!!! It works for me!! After reading this I'm going to buy some beads to fine tune with!!! Might feel a little better about 130 mph.

I was ran over in 06 by crackhead when I was on bike. In 09 I was hit head on by drunk while in cage. Destroyed my career. Lost big time in both. Changed retirement picture completely. And I will drink a beer if I'm not going to be riding. But you have to think once in a while. Not good to get me started on this one.

It is a good question and if a answer is found would probally apply to 1st and 2nd Gens. Would be one PIA out of the way when doing Maint.

Mixture Screw Settings
Yammer Dan replied to V7Goose's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Most will find that each bike has its own quirks and this setting is not a good starting point. I set mine at 2.5 and go from there. -
You come and put the clutch in my Saab and I'll put the one in your truck.....

The first words will still be "I didn't see"

Probally get arrested most places anymore but that was GREAT!! Saw a bell ringer the other day that was telling everyone MERRY CHRISTMAS!! I was laughing as I asked him "Aren't you supposed to be using Happy holidays or something like that now? He said "Yep, Are you going to tell on me?" and laughed. Not Me!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!! And Happy Birthday JESUS. Hope you get all you want for your Birthday. It would probally match a lot of our lists!!
