    Double Yellow line and just not paying enough attention. Pick a better spot to pass. Not saying I haven't done things like that but would have had a better eye on cage I was passing and expect him to break the law just like I was. PAY ATTENTION!! And practice braking.

    You could start a lot of places with this. Just start checking connections in cables. And you may have been right in your 1st guess. Check battery to see if it has charge. Check fuses carefully. If it is a old orginal box they can break if you wiggle them hard.

    I'm thinking 83-85 fit and 86 up changes something but can't remember what right now. Just mounting brackets?? E-Bay is still the best place to watch for this stuff. The back rests don't come cheap.

    What Brian said. They don't crap out very often on the 1st Gens. Can be had pretty easy on E-Bay. Progressive on rear although if you want it is a good thing but prepare to pay. I would go with a used stock one from E-Bay.
