  1. I was happy at $435.00 and it did make a WORLD of difference on the ride. Was suprised how easy it was to change out, would have been much happier at $349, but still the improved ride is worth it!
  2. Ok, thanks, then it should go in front of the seat pan? Kewl, hope you and the misses are oki doki.. long time, no see. maybe we'll all get together soon! Chris
  3. Well, mine wasn't that wet, just dry and crusty. But I think its been dry for awhile. Anyways, old shock came right out and new one slipped right in. Didn't have a jackstand so i used two ratchet straps and attached one to each leg of the swingarm and then to the passenger armrest and used that to take the tension off the shock. Question:, my old shock did not have a vent tube and the replacement did? I ran it up along the air fill tube and a self stick clamp was included I assume to attach the rear fender, but???????? Looks kinda hokey? Where has everyone run the tube?
  4. Just ordered a new rear Avon, just over 18500 and probable could get a few more. front is still fine. I have had no issues whatever with them! got my replacement at swmoto for 143 shipped.
  5. SWmototire, $142.50 for rear Venom, 150/90/HB15 Free shipping gotta say, quite impressed with the Venoms. Got 18k on them and just to the wear bars now! Front has plenty on it, just replacing the rear. I went through two sets of 404's and neither got more than 8k. See no reason to switch to another brand!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Hey all, its been awhile since I last posted, probably since the last Meet and Eat in Rome with Eck and Blackjack. Lifes beens nuts here, but anyways, I am pretty sure I have blown my rear shock. I have noticed oil under it and it seems my ride has deteriated to the point that I bottom out on most any bump and sometimes the bike feels a little squirrley in a curve, kinda like a cocker spaniel wagging its tail! lol anyways, I found an OEM for about 550 but I really wanna make sure that I ain't replacing it for nuthin! I have heard that I should not bottom out the shock and I know we've been packing a few more pounds, but it does bottom out a lot,and it seems to float a bit? I plan on a rear tire as well if I can find a venom on sale, hoping to hit the Keys in a few weeks so I have my hands full! Hope all is well with all and we'll meet up again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. I bought a lift adaptor from someone on the forum and have had no issues with it. Don't remember even what I paid , not really caring. Friend of mine saw one on ebay for about 55 bucks. Just wondering if anyone is familiar if they are of the quality that our member makes them?

    Lowers

Long story short, last week I had to take a furlough, so wife and I headed south for a week of r&r in Fl. About 40 mles south of Warner Robbins, Ga. in the dark, 80mph, hit something? Not sure what it was? Desk? Drawer? Some kind of piece of furniture. Anyways, got the bike pulled over to check for damages. Broke both lowers, brake lines, radiator and all look ok, but am gonna have to replace the cowlings, bent the crash bars, but they can be straightened. Any one got any good deals on lowers for an 01 RSV?
  16. Yea, !!!! What she said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. GREAT pictures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thnks for recording this great time! Good seeing you and hope to see ya soon..... Chris and Julie
  18. Hmmm, ok, lemme go look at a 30 amp. The 50 is much bigger and I'm afraid the tabs will make contact with the tank. I think the 30 amp will work, thanks all!
  19. Not to hijac the thread, but redbeard won't be there. he and his NEW fling are heading to Fl. the Wed. before. Julie and I should be there, Catherine is away at NGCSU in Dahlonaga, looking forward to seeing everyone!
  20. Again, thanks for all the help yesterday. I got the wires spliced and bought a 50amp toggle switch as per the tech. library. Question is, I had grip heaters and already have a toggle switch mounted on the plastic cover over the gas cap. I have no idea how many amps it is? It was mounted to heat my grips and had both a low and high setting. I no longer use the heaters and have removed them, but left the switch. Can I us this toggle switch instead of mounting another? Do I really need a 50 amp switch?
  21. See you in Rome my friend!
  22. So many kudos to the very knowledgeable folks here! Had my ignition short out today and between the how too's here in the library, long distance telephone help from Eck and Sleeperhawk, and FLB's quick site pictures and clarification, I got a switch installed to by pass and get the bike going! This site is so full of great members!!!!!!! Thanks all!
  23. ok, kewl! Thanks so much for the quick replies!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. Would it matter if I did it aft of the plug as it seems there is more room for a splice?
  25. Ok, if I see that right, splice one wire to the red one wire to the brown/blue between the switch and the connector and then one wire to the toggle on one side and one wire to the other of the toggle? Toggle switched on, makes the connection?
