I ditto again with Goose. I did the PCW and ordered the replacement clutch plates just in case. After checking the tolerances, I still have the plates cause there was hardly any wear on the plates themselves. I did this at just right at 50k. PCW is also very helpful in talking ya through the process and the Tech. area has very detaled instructions!

On my 01, I used the PCW kit, it came with everything for about $80 bucks, am real happy with it. About an hour and a half job.

thanks Goose, I explained that to him also. But for the price (about $3500) I figured if the motor fell flat out of it, he could part it out and almost break even?

My best friend has been really jealous of my RSV since I bought it. He has two Kaw Drifters and is looking at a 1999 loaded with extras for a REALLY great price. The only issue is it has over 200k on it. Looking at it, it looks sound, clean, never dropped and all the reciepts for maintenance. Anyone have any idea of problems that might arise with buying such a high mileage bike?

well, after readuing this post I went Sat to Wally world and got me a tube. Mine isn't so bad, I'll let ya know the results when I finish!

My 2720 cable came with a speaker wire that has a pigtail that you can get to plug into the AUX on the dash, but then the GPS would only be audible when on aux, but I have been told that you can slpit the faiinmg and hard wire throught the radio there? I've never bothered, just hot wired it into a pigtail from my battery tender on the battery.

I loved the difference and feel on my 2nd gen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I'm just waiting to see how the milage goes?

I just replaced my 404's with Avons. I was only getting 7500-8k outa the rear 404's. So far, I really like the Venoms, haven't had REALLY bad weather yet, but have ridden in the rain. Only thing I noticed is that if felt as if I was riding on a ridge, and fell off to the left or right as I banked? Lost this feeling when I was two up? Might try tire pressure? But otherwise, so far the Avons feel much better that 404's. Won't comment on noise as that is not something I pay attention too. I read this forum daily and appreciate ALL opinions, good or bad, and it just might help someone who is experiencing the same thing realize their particular issues? I consider this forum the best and really do apreciate all the advise/feedback/info that I get. I'm sure some too have grown tired of SOME of my previous rants about factories, (Especially HD) LOL

Ok, been to three stores, all have a syn DOT 3-4 compareable, but no DOT 4 specific? Is the syn.3-4 ok to use?

Rode up Lookout Mtn. over the weekend. Just installed new pads on the rear, cleaned the calipers, etc. Refilled the fluids. Halfway down the mountain, NO rear brakes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now its tough turning hard left or right, 30-40 degrees inclined down with the front brakes only! Sure changes the dynamics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any idea as to where to start to look? This happened once before? Once the rears sat for a bit, I could pump them back up, but got kinda hairy there for awhile!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the directions! Beautiful ride. Cat and I had a great time! Did Ruby Falls, the aquarium, and enjoyed downtown. What a difference from downtown Atlanta!!!!!!!!! We will def. be going back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah, they got cat collars in 17 different sizes, dog bowls, fish tanks, doggie bandanas, HD underware in 147 sizes from XXXXs to 4058XXX.jeans, jackets, boots, sandals, jewelry, glasses, mugs, expresso machines that make it in orange and black, But try and find a timing plug for an 81 shovel,, yeah right.......... never could fiqure out why they sold raingear?????????????

Hmmmmmmmmm.. not sure I ever will, HD has lost all my confidence, they won't even work on my other bike (1981 FLSHS) FTF one of the reasons I ended up with the RSV. Hard to stomach 25K for a ride that is so dificult to get serviced. Hell, I've done most of the work myself on the RSV (Lots of help from Eck and folks here) for 1/3 the cost of the letters HD. Now I ani't dissing the factory, but I ain't into HD cat collars,Ceiling fans and the rest of al that boutique crap. I need tech assistance, and how the hell do that get of when I go for help, all they try to do is to get me to either trade the 81 in or sell me some freakin HD jeans for 100 bucks......................................

LOL its a daily rider, been kicked, boots scuffed,etc. nothing probably that couldn't be buffed, but I ain't into all that................Nothing more furstrating than spending two hours detailing your ride and then its pouring, nope, I quit all that.......... Only two times I wash my bike is when I'm looking for an oil leak or getting ready to sell her......................

Yes, coming up 27 through Rome. I ust might take that route! Hoping to get my daughter from the x at 8 and head out from there. Yes, we're taking the bike!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are planning on doing IMAX and the aquarium Sun before riding home. Thanks all for the info!
