Thanks for the info Rick, hate to read these things. We'll be thinking about Bob and his family.

Had a knee done a while back...its true, the harder you work it the quicker it gets back....that's not to say it aint gonna hurt a little....but she'll be good as new in a few weeks. Best of Luck

that is a sweet job. I especially like the windshield ...think I'll use some of my extra lights from when I did mine and 'borrow' your idea.

I don't think the PD I called caught him, I didn'thear anything yesterday. I'm going back to the victim on Tuesday when I go back to work witht he in car vid to seee if the girl who saw him can ID him. Then I'm gonna do the paperwork, get a warrant and send it to Rhode Island State PD to pick him up. What's great is that even though he'll get relatively cheap bail from our court, it will take 2 or 3 days to go through the extradition process and then we have to send fugitive squad for him so he'll be in custody for about a week before he even gets here. THEN he gets to see MY pretty face and I think I'll hang the no helmet ticket on him just for good measure.

I'm kinda POd and wanted to vent a little so bear with me..........today, I happened to pull over a guy on a Vulcan. What attracted my attention was that he had no helmet on and NY is a helmet state (No debate here OK??). Anyway...the guy had come over on the ferry from New London CT (CT is a no helmet state) and rode about 15 miles without a helmet before I saw him. We chatted for a few minutes and I told him he had to get a helmet on before he could go. Nearest shop to get one was about 15 miles away. I told him to call wherever he was going and have someone pick one up for him. I didn't write him any summonses as he seemed to be decent enough (Just kinda dumb since he didn't check to see if the states he would be riding through required helmets) and I left. A few hours later I got called to a local body shop (right up the road from where I had stopped the guy)where one of the mechanics had parked his Harley in front of the shop when he got to work and when he went to go home...yup...his helmet was gone! One of the secretaries said a guy who matched my guys description walked into the shop and asked if there was anyplace he could get a helmet. He left and she heard his bike start up and leave. I can't believe that this POS would pull this stunt. I guess he doesn't realize that I have his plate number, as well as his picture from my in-car video. Needless to say he has a message on his answering machine and the local PD where he is destined was advised. Hopefully they'll catch him wearing the helmet and lock his sorry butt up. The nerve of some people.

Peace of mind rules. I changed my first set out at 10,000 and had plenty of tread left. I just knew I didn't want to worry while I was 1000 miles from home. Love my Avons, and will change them out at 10,000 not matter how good they look. Just my 2 cents

Drat!! Had I known this was happening, I would have volunteered myself. I have been wanting to get another one, just don't know what. If it will get more money for St. Jude's, I'll volunteer to be the third 'victim'. Heck, if the numbers get high enough, a head shaving might even be in order. (Just don't tell my wife) Keep us posted on this Brad, I'm in for at least $100. I'll send it when the time gets closer (still paying for renovations to the house)

I use the Laser, it is AS accurate as radar. It is actually a little MORE specific in that, used properly, it can 'hand pick' the target, that is, if a motorcycle is next to a tractor trailer, the Laser can actually get a reading on the motorcycle where the radar will almost always lock onto the truck. Laser is target specific, radar is size specific. As far as fighting it, I don't know how it works there, and I don't know how big the troopers are on trials. Here, if we don't show up on trial day without an adjournment request, the ticket is usually dismissed. And if you go to court and talk ot the prosecutor, you can sometimes get the numbers knocked down. Like I said, that's here, not there If it was me, I'd pay it and slow down. Like Brad said, cheaper than taking a day off and taking a chance. Clear as mud??

I've pulled my trailer quite a bit, first trip out, I actually bottomed out the ball to the hitch and almost got pushed into the shoulder of the oncoming lane. As hard as I tried, I simply could not get the bike to lean far enough to turn all the way through. This was at about 35 MPH in a 60 or 70 degree turn. Not overly aggressive but everyone riding behind me thought I was losing it. Luck was with me and I was able to pull out of it. The day we got back, I ordered my swivel hitch and will NOT pull a trailer without it.

Welcome to the dark side young Skywalker.................

Hmmmmmmm...I wonder why I don't have this problem. Is it a height thing? I've never had a glare problem with mine and now I'm wondering why.(not that I WANT the problem though)

Ouch Craig, Good thing you were paying attention. What did the truck owner have to say?

Sorry to hear about your misfortune Boomer. Glad it's not worse

Not actually too far from here, I have to check the work schedule but might be able to make it.

Glad to see you're back in the swing of things. Wonder if those stupid deer whistles work on hogs???

I got the 15" Clearview with the vent and love it. I look right ove r the top and get plenty of air with the vent open. As for the buffeting, there is more and my wife noticed more but all she did was start using ear plugs and the rest of it doesn't bother her so I consider it something I'm willing to deal with.

Want to add extra brake lights.......need ideas please!
VTirelli replied to mashley's topic in Watering Hole
Yep, came with everything. Adds a nice touch, not really bright but every lil bit of light helps back there. I think it was about 50 - 75 bucks. -
Good for you Bob!! I'm sure it feels great to be back in the saddle again.
-
Back from my truck driving days, I always downshift. Rarely use the rear brake unless I'm in a hard braking situation or pulling the trailer.

Quite true. Over thepast 25 years, radars are made with a hold button that keeps the signal off until activated. In NY (not sure about other states), we are trained to estimate speeds to within plus or minus 5 mph. So if a vehicle isn't within that estimate, I don't even activate it. The tickets are actually issued on the visual estimate. I've had trials where the radar was actually thrown out but the estimate was upheld. As far as laser 'detectors', I'm just curious how they work since the lazer is only a beam of light, wouldn't it be going off all the time sincelight is coming into the windshield all the time? (I have yet to see one of those work.)
